Assyrian palace found in Mosul!

Assyrian palace found in Mosul!

Last seen when Nineveh flooded.

Assyrian palace found in Mosul

By Craig C. White

ISIS destruction in Mosul has unearthed Assyrian King Sennacherib’s palace from the time that God destroyed ancient Nineveh with a flood (612 BC). The palace ruins were found underneath the Shrine to the biblical Prophet Jonah. ISIS used high explosives to blow up the Shrine to Jonah in 2014 when they took control of Mosul. Iraqi soldiers have entered the now buried palace by way of ISIS tunnels. The soldiers reported that the two story structure is in eminent danger of collapsing. This is the palace that is identified in Nahum 2:6. Evidently the flood of 612 BC buried Sennacherib’s palace.

Nahum 2:6 The gates of the rivers shall be opened, and the palace shall be dissolved.

The Prophet Nahum predicted the flooding and plundering of the ancient Assyrian capital city of Nineveh. Today the ruins of Nineveh lay within the Mosul city limits. Nahum says that God would destroy the place where Nineveh was built with an overrunning flood. Nahum may also predict the flooding of Mosul in northern Iraq. Nahum says that the inhabitants of Nineveh would be gathered together when their destruction came. Today the Iraqi Army has pushed ISIS close together in western Mosul. The Mosul dam is in danger of busting. If Mosul is going to flood then it seems that now would be an appropriate time!

Let’s notice that Assyrian King Sennacherib’s palace has once again been seen by human eyes after 2,600 years. Just like 612 BC this palace has resurfaced at a time when Nineveh (or modern day Mosul) is once again under siege and also in danger of flooding. If the Mosul dam breaks then Sennacherib’s palace will most likely be dissolved once again and for all time. Do you think that God is trying to tell us something? Is anybody listening?

    Craig,

Whenever Archeology confirms the biblical accounts of history, It builds my faith and it should confirm to the church that prophecies within the scriptures are the Words of God. Inversely, it amazes me that when some scientist claims to discover some microbe of non confirmed, millions of years old according to failed dating methods, piece of evidence supporting a Godless origin of the world and universe people are quick to believe. More than ever, this new discovery lends proof that God did send His Prophet ti Nineveh.

The significant thing is that a temple that hasn’t been seen since it was flooded and destroyed has been unearthed on a day when it is in danger of being flooded and destroyed. God is reminding the world about what happened in 612 BC. God is reminding us about Nahum’s prophecy.

Thus says the Lord of hosts:
If you will walk in My ways,
And if you will keep My command,
Then you shall also judge My house,
        And likewise have charge of My courts;
I will give you places to walk
        Among these who stand here.

    Craig,

The unearthed temple is very significant indeed. Today fresh warnings were released by engineers about the possibility of the Mosul Dam collapsing at anytime. The report said that even a 20% breach would be disastrous to Mosul, and a complete collapse would be worse than dropping a nuclear bomb on Iraq.

Please remember a flood could also mean sending an army in to destroy Isis, keep up the good work Craig and always pray for wisdom and understanding

Hi Nathan. Thank you for your comment.

Sometimes in the Bible the term “flood” can refer to an overwhelming invasion by an army. But sometimes a flood refers to a flood of water. This is the case in Nahum 1:8. Nahum says that God will destroy the ancient Assyrian capital city of Nineveh with an overrunning flood. In 612 BC God destroyed ancient Nineveh with a flood of water. Today Nineveh is called Mosul in northern Iraq. God may also be about to destroy Mosul with a flood of water.

Nahum 1:8 But with an overrunning flood he will make an utter end of the place thereof, and darkness shall pursue his enemies.

There is more talk of water in Nahum 2:6. The gates of the rivers will be opened. Today the gates of the Mosul dam have broken off of their hinges.

In the verse below, the “palace” refers to a building large enough to accommodate a gathering of many people. I think that Nahum is being very accurate here. ISIS in Mosul will be gathered together in a large auditorium when the flood hits! Today ISIS is making their last stand in the Great Al Nuri Mosque in western Mosul’s Old City neighborhood.

Nahum 2:6 The gates of the rivers shall be opened, and the palace shall be dissolved.

The verse below literally says that Nineveh will be like a water reservoir for many days. ISIS leaders will command the people to stand and fight but nobody will listen. Anybody left alive will flee.

Nahum 2:8 But Nineveh is of old like a pool of water: yet they shall flee away. Stand, stand, shall they cry; but none shall look back.

In 612 BC God first destroyed Nineveh with a flood of water and then three armies ransacked the city for two months! Today the Mosul dam is in danger of bursting! Water water everywhere!
