Who is fighting in Syria? – Map: It seems that Turkey, the Muslim Brotherhood, and the U.S. want Syria’s President Bashar Assad gone! This is a further effort to unite the Middle East under the extreme Islamist Muslim Brotherhood’s mantle! We have all been told that Syrian citizens are rising up against President Assad. Not true! The rebels call themselves “The Free Syrian Army”. They consist mostly of Libyan jihadists fighting under Turkish leadership on the field. Their General is Libyan. The “Free Syrian Army” is supported by the Muslim Brotherhood.

Iran and Sudan are represented in Syria by Hezbollah militia. Hezbollah is pro-Assad and is fighting against “The Free Syrian Army”. Lebanon is also pro-Assad and is acting as a base of operations for the Hezbollah militia.

Turkey has the real military power in this fight. Jeremiah 49 predicts the destruction of Damascus, Syria’s capital city. I think that Turkey will eventually invade Syria and destroy Damascus.

All of the nations mentioned in Ezekiel 38:5 are now fighting in Syria. Ezekiel 38 tells us about an invasion into Israel led by Turkey. This invasion is referred to as the battle of Gog and Magog. Gog is Turkey. Magog is its ruler. Also Isaiah chapter 10 tells us about a future leader who will invade Syria and then Invade Israel just like the ancient Assyrians did in 700 BC. This leader is called “The Assyrian” in Isaiah chapter 10. I think that after Turkey destroys Damascus they will lead all of the armies listed in Ezekiel 38:5 (Iran, Libya, and Sudan) in an invasion into Israel.

The Turkish led invasion into Israel called the battle of Gog and Magog in Ezekiel chapter 38 is the major prophetic event of the pre-Tribulation period. It Identifies “The Assyrian” and sets end time events into hyper-drive!

there are many who disagree with you regarding Magog….tell me….
how is one supposed to separate which is correct. you and others have spent many years and countless hrs. studying the scriptures. I do not have time for that.
who do I choose ? I therefore have a 50/50 chance of missing the boat and being mislead.

Anxious to solve this puzzle.? Will you help?

    1. Hi Philip. We all must study to see if what we are taught is correct. I think that Meshech, Tubal, and Magog were princes that were set over provinces in the land that we call Turkey today. So I think that the chief Prince in Ezekiel 38 refers to an end time ruler of Turkey. I think that Turkey will lead an attack into Israel. https://hightimetoawake.com/princes-of-turkey/

  1. I think Iran is currently supporting Assad ( Even assisting Hezbollah) … In this regard, it will join Turkey allies later according bible prophecies.

What is their point of view now?

It seems to me that the fulfillment of Isa 13 may be as a result of the clash between pro-Russian Iranian forces and Turkish forces. In the close reading of the prophecies is the result and not necessarily the combatants.

    1. Hi Stephanie: Thank you for your comment. First off I think that you mean Isaiah chapter 17 and not Isaiah chapter 13. Isaiah chapter 17 is about the destruction of Damascus, Syria. Isaiah chapter 13 is about the destruction of Babylon which is southern Iraq today.

Isaiah 17:1 The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.

Isaiah 13:1 The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see.

Russia and Iran have given the Turkish Army permission to enter Syria. I don’t find a military clash between Turkey and Russia found in Isaiah chapter 17 (the destruction of Damascus), or in Jeremiah 49:23-27 (also the destruction of Damascus), or in Ezekiel chapter 38 (the Turkish led invasion into Israel). In Ezekiel 38:5 Turkey leads Iran, Libya, and Sudan into Israel. So it is doubtful that Iran will fight against Turkey beforehand.

Ezekiel 38:5 Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet:

Iran and the Syrian Army are now in southern Syria causing trouble for Israel. Israel wants to avoid starting a regional war so they must tread somewhat lightly against Iran and Syria. Israel certainly doesn’t want to destroy Damascus. Nowhere in the Bible does it identify Israel destroying Damascus. As a matter of fact the Prophet Jeremiah describes the northwestern Syrian cities of Hamah and Arpad (Arpad is called Tell Rifaat today) being terrorized before Damascus is destroyed. The Turkish Army is in northwestern Syria and they are beginning to terrorize these cities now. Since the destruction of Damascus begins in Hamah and Tell Rifaat; it is evident from Jeremiah 49:23-27 that Turkey will destroy Damascus.

Jeremiah 49:23-27 Concerning Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad: for they have heard evil tidings: they are fainthearted; there is sorrow on the sea; it cannot be quiet. 24 Damascus is waxed feeble, and turneth herself to flee, and fear hath seized on her: anguish and sorrows have taken her, as a woman in travail. 25 How is the city of praise not left, the city of my joy! 26 Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the LORD of hosts. 27 And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall consume the palaces of Benhadad.

A similar scenario happened in 734 BC. Back then Israel asked Assyria (northern Iraq) to help fight the Syrian Army. After Assyria conquered Syria then they invaded northern Israel (2Kings 16-17). I think that this will happen again. I think that this time Israel may ask Turkey to help fight the pro-Syrian forces on Israel’s northern border. After Turkey destroys Damascus then they will lead the forces that are now fighting in Syria (namely Iran, Libya, and Sudan) into the Golan Heights of Israel. Ezekiel says that Turkey will lead Iran into Israel.

Iran is a Syrian ally. Iran and Turkey are on opposite sides of the Syrian war but make no mistake; Iran and Turkey have been getting along very well over the past several years. Since Ezekiel 38:5 describes Turkey leading Iran into Israel we should expect to see Iran join forces with Turkey soon.

Ezekiel 38:13 Who is the merchants of Tarshish and all their young lions? (What countries does this refer to. Thank you. Cathy

    1. Hi Cathy. The Merchants of Tarshish refers to southern Lebanon. Tarshish was the rock island fortress just off the coast of Tyre. You can see it on Google maps. Tyre and Tarshish was a busy shipping port with a well protected harbor and fortress. The Prophet Jonah tried to run away from God by getting on a ship from northern Israel to southern Lebanon headed for the rock Island fortress of Tarshish. https://hightimetoawake.com/the-merchants-of-tarshish/
