Animal sacrifice is an everlasting statute

Animal sacrifice is an everlasting statute

Christ our passover is sacrificed for us (1Corinthians 5:7)

By Craig C. White

God established animal sacrifice as an everlasting covenant with the nation of Israel.

Lev 16:33-34 And he shall make an atonement for the holy sanctuary, and he shall make an atonement for the tabernacle of the congregation, and for the altar, and he shall make an atonement for the priests, and for all the people of the congregation. 34 And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as the LORD commanded Moses.

Animal sacrifice does not take away sin but it is an action of trust and obedience towards the God of Israel.

Heb 10:4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.

Animal sacrifice symbolize the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made on the cross.

Heb 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Jesus gave his life in place of our lives to pay our debt for our sins. The wages of sin is death.

Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Animal sacrifice will be an everlasting memorial to remember God’s provision for reconciling condemned men with a holy creator.

Heb 9:26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

Jesus Christ is our sacrifice for sin.
