ISIS leader al-Baghdadi killed in a large security convoy?

“Quiet, and likewise many”

By Craig C White

There has been a lot of buzz lately about the whereabouts of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. Some say that he has left Mosul and is traveling town to town hiding in small villages west of Mosul. Some people say that al-Baghdadi is still in Mosul. The latest unconfirmed report is that a large security convoy of forty SUV’s, jeeps, and a few tanks possibly carrying al-Baghdadi has been completely destroyed by Iraqi airstrikes and by Shite militia while it was driving through the ISIS held Iraqi town of Tal-Afar to the west of Mosul.

I think that Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is being identified in Nahum 1:11. Nahum says that there is a wicked person who has “come from” or possibly has “traveled outside of” the city of Nineveh (or modern day Mosul).

Nahum 1:11-12a There is one come out of thee, that imagineth evil against the LORD, a wicked counsellor. 12a Thus saith the LORD; Though they be quiet, and likewise many,

Verse 12 is describing the security team that surrounds the wicked person who has come out of Mosul. The phrase “quiet and likewise many” means that they will be completely set up with the proper equipment and also be fully staffed with personnel. This sounds like it is describing the large security detail that is protecting Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Nahum 1:12b yet thus shall they be cut down, when he shall pass through. Though I have afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more.

Verse 12 goes on to say that just as this security team is fully equipped and staffed, they will also be fully destroyed (or killed). Nahum even tells us when this will happen. It will happen “when he shall pass through”. To pass through means to cross over. So this could be saying that ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi will be traveling in a large well equipped security convoy when Al-Baghdadi along with his security convoy will be completed wiped out, possibly while crossing between Mosul and points west.
