Like Babylon; Like Mystery Babylon

Mystery Babylon may also take Israel captive.

Rev 17, 18, & 19

by Craig C. White

There is a city called Mystery Babylon on earth at the time of the Great Tribulation. It isn’t the city of Babylon in Iraq today, but it is a lot like the ancient city of Babylon. The city of Mystery Babylon is on earth today and ready to fulfill it’s prophetic role.

Ancient Babylon took captives only from the nation of Israel. This happened on three occasions in 597 BC, 587 BC, and 582 BC. Babylon besieged Judah and Jerusalem and took captives back to the city of Babylon. There is a city called “Mystery Babylon” spoken of in Revelation 17:5. It exists during the end time tribulation period. Like Babylon; Mystery Babylon may also take Israel captive.

Rev 17:5-6  And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.  6  And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.

From Rev 17:18  we know that Mystery Babylon is a city. In the verses above, Mystery Babylon is drunk with the blood of saints and martyrs. The word saint means consecrated or set apart. The word martyr simply means a witness. These are people who have stood for God and have been killed. They may be the people of Israel or gentile believers. I think that they are both. The city has killed so many of God’s people that they are drunk with their blood.

Rev 18:4  And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

Before the modern city of Babylon is destroyed; God’s people are called out that they may be saved from its judgment. So we know that God’s people are in the city. They may be Israeli captives during the Tribulation period.

Rev 18:24  And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.

Revelation 18:24 indicates that a great many of God’s people were killed in the modern city of Babylon.

Rev 19:2  For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.

God avenges the death of his people by destroying the city. God uses Iran to destroy it in one day! Just like when Persia (Iran) overtook the city of Babylon in one day in 539 BC (read my commentary Mystery Babylon: Party till you Perish). The modern city called Mystery Babylon is a lot like ancient Babylon.

During “the Great Tribulation” the Israeli people will be bought and sold as slaves. They will be dispersed to several nations. It may be that some of the people of Israel will be taken captive to the city called Mystery Babylon.

Amo 8:6  That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes; yea, and sell the refuse of the wheat?

Joel 3 describes Lebanon as it sells Israeli slaves to Greece.

Joe 3:3  And they have cast lots for my people; and have given a boy for an harlot, and sold a girl for wine, that they might drink.

Joe 3:6  The children also of Judah and the children of Jerusalem have ye sold unto the Grecians, that ye might remove them far from their border.

Below, those in Lebanon who own them will kill them. The slave merchants will say, “Blessed be the Hebrew God because I have become rich selling the Israeli people; and their own leaders don’t care about them”.

Zec 11:5  Whose possessors slay them, and hold themselves not guilty: and they that sell them say, Blessed be the LORD; for I am rich: and their own shepherds pity them not.

Zechariah below tells us that half of the people in Jerusalem will be taken captive.

Zec 14:1-2  Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.  2  For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

So we know that many of the Israeli people will be taken as slaves during the great tribulation. It may be that some of them will be taken captive to the city called Mystery Babylon.

You may already know that I think that “Mystery Babylon” is very possibly the city of Dubai (read my commentary Dubai; a Case for Mystery Babylon). God’s people are killed in the city. God’s people are found in the city before its destruction. Dubai already has a vast slave population. It may be that some of the captives of Israel will be taken to Dubai.
