Gog is Turkey! Magog is it’s Leader!
Today Turkey has a leader that fits the Magog profile.

Bible prophecy teachers say that Magog in Ezekiel 38 refers to Russia. But from my house I can’t see Russia! That view of Magog came about by transcribing “chief” (or the Hebrew “rosh”) to mean Russia. Transposing Hebrew words into English phonetic equivalents is not proper bible prophecy interpretation technique. That technique is not used elsewhere to interpret bible prophecy. Rosh means first or primary. Magog is a man who settled in the land of modern day Turkey.
Eze 38:1-3 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, 3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:
Verse 2 tells us that Magog is the “chief prince” (or most prominent) of his brothers, Meshech and Tubal. So Noah had a son named Japheth who had a son named Magog who settled Turkey. Gog is a shortened version of Magog.
This isn’t the first passage where Magog, Meshech, and Tubal are found. Let’s look at Genesis 10:1-3.
Gen 10:1-3 Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood. 2 The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras. 3 And the sons of Gomer; Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah.
Jeepers, all those weird names are listed in that short passage! Magog, Meshech, and Tubal are people. As a matter of fact they are relatives. Magog, Meshech, and Tubal are brothers. Togarmah is Gomer’s son. They are among the first families to resettle the world after the devastation of Noah’s flood. They all settled together in today’s Turkey. Isn’t bible prophecy fun!
Today Turkey has a leader that fits the Magog profile. His name is Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. He became Prime Minister of Turkey in 2003. He is a devout Muslim and has an ingrained animosity toward Israel. He also has a volatile disposition. He has been over-zealous in his public hatred and provocation toward Israel. While most Middle Eastern despots are being besieged and exiled, Prime Minister Erdoğan is popular and gaining in popularity.
High Time to Awake 
I agree with you Ezekiel is referring to Turkey and not to Russia. Turkey is already considering itself a leader in the Islamic world, opening one embassy after another in Islamic African countries and picking up Islamic causes.
I have a hunch that Turkey’s destruction – as described in Ezekiel – will actually come at the hands of Russia – their centuries-old enemy.

Turkey may suffer a set back when they invade Israel (Ezekiel 38) soon after they invade Syria and destroy Damascus. Other than that they will be successful in their world conquest. I think that Turkey will finally suffer at the hands of Jesus Christ in the battle of Armageddon (Ezekiel 39).

My personal opinion is that Turkey – and Islam – will collapse when they invade Israel.
The Antichrist will not be a Muslim as he will oppose ALL religions (2Thessalonians 2) and it will be his armies that are destroyed by the Lord at Armageddon.
Again, this is my personal opinion!

I have heard the arguments about a Muslim antichrist and I am very skeptical about them.
First and foremost, 2Thessalonians 2 says he will be opposed to all religions.
Secondly, those who claim a revived Ottoman Empire is the 8th “head” are ignoring several kingdoms and empires that have had control over Israel (Byzantine, Arab, Mameluk, British).
The ancient church fathers (google St Hippolytus) thought he would be a Jew, of the tribe of Dan, from Babylon. I think that will be the case, with “Babylon” being a symbolic Babylon i.e. either Rome or New York.

Given what has happened in Turkey in the past 10 days makes this article even more relevant now. I am not sure that Erdogan is the antichrist, I think someone else will come after him. Please tell people about 1500 military people and their families being held hostages in Turkey at a nuclear base, it is not being reported in the media. Go to debkafile for more information about this. And pray for those hostages. Prophetic speculation is interesting but it should not occupy us so much that we do not evangelize or pray for those in peril. There are many good Turkish people held in prisons now, universities and clinics closed, doctors unemployed. Turkey has become completely Islamo-fascist. Brothers and Sisters, pray,pray,pray! And stay informed.

Thank you Amiela. I am aware of the US troops and nukes that are being held at Inkirlic airbase in Turkey. I have shared that story on facebook. Please believe me when I say that I am not speculating when I tell you that Turkey President Erdogan is the Antichrist. That is an important message because it informs Israel and the world that a terrible time of trouble is coming. It also informs Christians that Jesus is coming for them soon. The resurrection and rapture are near.

yes you may well be right, can you explain how we know that Turkey is Magog especially as to Meshech and Tubal, can we see from the bible that these people actually settled in Turkey? If we could prove that from scripture then I think we have a air tight case here. If we cannot then it’s just conjecture, I believe you may well be right here.

Hi Alan. It’s more than conjecture. We can tell from history that Magog, Meshech, Tubal, Gomer, Togarmah, etc were all provinces in Turkey. Look at your Bible map.
Magog is the “chief prince” or primary governor among the provinces of Turkey. Turkish President Erdogan is the primary governor of Turkey. Erdogan is the end time invader of Isreal. Erdogan is the Antichrist.
Erdogan admitted that Turkey entered Syria explicitly to remove Assad from power in Damascus. Erdogan has already called for every Muslim nation to conquer Jerusalem. Hezbollah from Iran and Al-Qaeda from Libya have already announced their intentions for a joint invasion into Galilee. Every nation that is listed in Ezekiel 38:5 is fighting today in the Golan Heights of Syria. Antichrist will rule by PEACE and destroy many by peace, sign a 7 year peace agreement with Israel during the first half of the tribulation and then after the abomination of desolation he will turn ugly and talk with great pride and vile again Christ, Israel and Christians. So I’m thinking he will not talk vile until the second half.
Also AntiChrist will be very religious and honors a God of forces (war). This perfectly describes Allah of islam. In Daniel.
He will come out of the Grecian side of the Roman Empire, the Eastern side which includes parts of the Middle East and will be Turkey. Gog magog.
