Three types of Salvation

Salvation in the bible can mean different things.
1. The word salvation is sometimes misunderstood in scripture. Yes it means personal deliverance from sin, death, and eternal punishment. Jesus died so that we can live. His blood was shed so that our sins could be washed clean. Jesus brings spiritual salvation (deliverance) from sin.
Heb 5:9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
2. Salvation in the bible also refers to the deliverance of church age believers from participation in the Great Tribulation. Jesus will raise the bodies of believers from the grave. The church will be taken up to heaven. This is called the Rapture. When Jesus comes for the Rapture he will deliver our bodies from the wrath that is to come on earth. Jesus brings physical salvation (preservation) for his church from the Great Tribulation.
2Th 2:1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
The phrase “High Time to Awake” comes directly out of Romans chapter 13 verse 11.
Rom 13:11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
The apostle Paul assumes that we know the time, or that we understand the season. If we do understand the season then we must stir from our spiritual sleep and become alert. We must be prepared for our “salvation”. In this verse “salvation” is not our spiritual rebirth but our physical resurrection, rapture and gathering together to meet Jesus Christ. In this way we will escape the wrath that is to come on earth. Salvation from wrath on earth is also explained in Romans chapter 5.
Rom 5:7-10 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
3. Salvation also describes the Deliverance of the nation of Israel from complete annihilation at the end of the Great Tribulation. Jesus will come to Jerusalem just in time to save the last remaining Jews there!
Psa 14:7 Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! when the LORD bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.
Jesus brings salvation (rescue) for the remnant of the nation of Israel at the end of the Great Tribulation. In the verse below Jesus strengthens the Jerusalem remnant in order that they may escape their enemies.
Isa 40:29-31 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. 30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: 31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
