US appeasement of Turkey is making things worse and worse
US has taken the weaker position

The United States is relying on Turkey to exercise US interests in Syria and northern Iraq. Namely the US wants Turkey to keep Iran and Russia at bay in Syria. So far the US has allowed enormous leeway for Turkey to do almost anything that it wants. Unfortunately the Kurds and Yazidis are suffering for it. The US has adopted a hands off approach in northern Syria and northern Iraq. This has left the Kurds and Yazidis to fend for themselves against the Turkish army and against Turkish backed Al-Qaeda forces. The Kurds have largely been driven out of their homes and land. The US has not intervened even as Turkey has dammed up the Euphrates River starving the remaining Kurds of water. This week the US sided with Turkey in naval drills defending eastern Mediterranean Sea oil rights against Greece and France. Would the US go to war against Greece and France? I certainly hope not but the US has taken a position of not opposing Turkey at some cost.
Coddling their NATO ally seems preferable to allowing Iran or Russia to gain a stronger foothold in the region. I believe that ultimately the US is banking on Turkey to remove Syrian President Assad from power in Damascus. In its efforts to appease Turkish President Erdogan the US has taken the weaker position.
This week US envoy for Syria and the anti-ISIS campaign, James Jeffrey said the US had “proved our value (to Turkey) in many fields outside of Syria.”
Jeremiah 49:23-27 describes Turkey as they attack northwestern Syria and then destroy Damascus. The US will get its wish but the results will be calamity of Biblical proportions. Turkey will turn Damascus into a ruinous heap and then Turkey will invade northern Israel.
