The Russian Bear is Growling!

Russian bearThe Russian Bear is Growling!

Soviet Reunion

By Craig C. White

Somehow the Russian place in bible prophecy is compelling. But too often we see bears where there are none. We also overlook the bears that are there.  The Russian bear will have its place in end time prophecy, but it probably isn’t what you thought. Hey, I see a bear! Where? Over there!

Dan 7:5  And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.

In Daniel chapter 7 the bear represents Russia. As a prelude to the final gentile world empire Russia will gain territory along its southwestern border. Russia has been active in this process for the last twenty years. My guess is that we will soon see a dramatic culmination of this process. A security alliance called the CSTO was signed into force in May 1992. It includes Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Russia also has aggressive economic alliances with Belarus and Kazakhstan. Today Russia and Belarus are on the verge of converging.

In Russian president Medvedev’s state of the union address in Dec 2011 he proclaimed Russia’s intentions of a Eurasian Economic Union.

The foreign policy portion of Dmitri Medvedev’s final annual presidential address was short and moderate…The only clear and bold priority Medvedev emphasized was post-Soviet integration – the Common Economic Space, which will turn into a Eurasian Economic Union by the year 2015. But 20 years after the Soviet Union’s dissolution, Russia hopes not for a reincarnated empire, but for something more modern, inspired by the European experience of the second half of the twentieth century. Iranian naval task force has docked in Sudan

Iranian naval task force has docked in Sudan

In The News

Iranian naval task force has docked in Sudan. This shows the close military relationship between the two countries. Sudan (Cush), Libya, and Iran join Turkey in the Middle Eastern Invasion into Israel called the battle of Gog and Magog. Read my commentary titled Magog Made Easy.

Eze 38:1-6 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, 3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal: 4 And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords: 5 Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet: 6 Gomer, and all his bands; the house of Togarmah of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many people with thee.

We scratch our heads over this section of bible prophecy because so many of these names are unfamiliar. Please note that we are talking about the land of Magog in verse two. As we will see Magog is a man. Notice that there are three names that are very familiar. Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya. They are today’s Iran, Ethiopia (includes Sudan), and Libya.

I think the battle of “Gog and Magog” is a battle that happens before or during the tribulation. The way that world events are unfolding lead me to think that the battle of “Gog and Magog” may start very soon. Turkey will lead Iran, Libya, and Ethiopia-Sudan in an invasion into Israel. Jesus will plead with the invading nations using the forces of nature until he comes in person to utterly destroy them.  Do not worry! God will fight for Israel! The battle of Gog and Magog is one of the wars that must happen near the end.

What is Life about?

What is Life about? What is Life about?

God’s Great Expectations

By Craig C. White

What is Life about? The curious thing about life is that after you find yourself in it, you discover that there are already a lot of other people there. In life it is not so important where you live or what you do for a living. You will not take your house or your money with you when you die. The important thing in life is that you have loving relationships with the people you meet; I think you will agree. But, What is Life about?

Ecc 5:15 As he came forth of his mother’s womb, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing of his labour, which he may carry away in his hand.

What is Life about? In life the first person you meet is God. Before you were born, while you were yet in the womb; somebody was there with you. God was there. God gave you life and a spirit. He made you, member by member. He fashioned your bones and muscles, and covered them with flesh. What does God think? God has very many kind thoughts toward you; and has great expectations that he would know you.

Psa 139:13-18 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. 14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. 15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. 16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them. 17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! 18 If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.

What is Life about? Here is the answer. That when you meet God, you would know him. This same God is very righteous and hates wickedness. He will surely judge those that reject his meeting.

Psa 139:19-24 Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men. 20 For they speak against thee wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain. 21 Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee? 22 I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies. 23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: 24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

The God you met is a person but he is not a man (Num 23:19). He does much greater things than any man can do (Eccles 8:17). He is separate from mankind. He is holy.

Ecc 11:5 As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all.

The same God that made you also made the world and everything in it, all by himself. He knows the answer to the question, What is Life about?

Isa 44:24 Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;

When you walk outside you notice the world. You see grass and trees and sky. You see stars at night and think “Wow that is big and very beautiful!” You ask yourself, What is Life about? Every person sees the things that God has made. Because we see creation we know that there is a creator. God is shouting, “I made this; know me!” What is Life about? That when you see the things that God created, you would seek him. Because we all can see the things that God has made, we are all accountable to know and honor him. God says that nobody has an excuse!

Rom 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

God is the first person you meet in life. At first he is very quiet; at times though he can get very loud. During your life he calls for you, and knocks at the door of your heart wanting you to let him in. He is very persistent, but the choice to answer the door is yours. What is Life about? That when God knocks at the door of your heart, you would let him enter.

Rev 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Just as you were born, God promises that if you answer him he will give you new life; everlasting life. You will be born again.

Joh 3:3-8 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. 8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

Because we have sinned we have lost something of our life. God promises to restore our life to be everlasting if we will believe that he is there and call upon him. What is Life about? That when you hear the word of God, you would believe in him.

Joh 5:24  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

What is Life about? Here is the answer. That when you meet God, you would know him.

What is Sin?

What is Sin?

Christ our righteousness

Matthew 5:20-48

By Craig C. White

What is sin? Is it disobeying God’s law? How much can you sin and still be OK with God? Jesus himself tells us how righteous we need to be in order to be accepted by God and avoid hell. Turns out that if we sin even a little we are condemned to hell. The Good News is that we can become not condemned! In other words, God will forgive us of our sin. We can only be saved by believing Jesus Christ and asking God to forgive us of our sins (John 5:24). God then applies Jesus’ righteousness for our own righteousness.

Mat 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

What is sin then? How much can you sin and still be OK with God? Wow, the Pharisees were very pious yet they won’t be in heaven? The Pharisees were the leaders of the Jewish religion. They kept the Ten Commandments! Did they sin? Well I guess everybody sins a little. The Pharisees won’t be saved!? Hmm, then who can be saved? Below, Jesus compares the standards of the Old Testament law of righteousness to God’s standards of personal holiness. So there must be a difference between the two!

Mat 5:21-22 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: 22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

What is sin then? Murder of course is sin. But is anger and insult really sin? Can anger and insult really be punished by hell? Then I am probably going to hell. How can I be saved?

Mat 5:27-28 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: 28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

What is sin then? I figured an Adulterer might go to hell but even someone who thinks about it; Even if I just look at pornography? I am doomed for certain. Can I be saved?

10 Days to the Rapture

10 Days to the Rapture

10 Days to the Rapture

Precious fruit of the earth

Revelation 2:10

by Craig C. White

The Rapture is preceded and followed by the salvation of many souls. There are two periods of time when great numbers of people are saved and brought into the Church. The first was when Jesus preached to Israel and his disciples preached the gospel throughout the world. The second occurs at the end of the Church age, before and after the Rapture. The harvesting of many souls culminates during the Tribulation (Revelation 7:14). These periods are accompanied by three things.

1) The Preaching of the gospel (Luke 4:18, Revelation 14:6).

2) The Saving work of the Holy Spirit.

3) The Persecution of the church.

All of these things happened two thousand years ago. All of these things are happening today. The Church today is suffering terrible persecution, especially in the old world. Persecution of Christians has been elevating starting around 2005. In many countries Christians have been killed and have been disallowed assembly. In the midst of the most anti-christian countries God is saving many souls. I think God is saving whosoever will come to him to deliver them from the time of Tribulation that is soon to come on all the Earth (Act 2:21).

The first 3 chapters of Revelation are Jesus’ letters to the Churches in Asia Minor (namely Turkey and Greece). Many Bible commentators have assigned time periods to each of the seven churches mentioned in Revelation (Rev 1:11). We are not instructed to do so. Instead each letter is addressed to “He that hath an ear”. So each Church message contains edification and correction for churches of all time periods.

To the church in Smyrna Jesus wrote:

Revelation 2:10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

The early church suffered persecution at the hands of the Roman Empire. The later Church is now suffering at the hands of the reemerging World Empire. Just as the early church had “tribulation ten days” (Revelation 2:10). I think that the current tribulation of the Church will last a relatively short period of time, perhaps on the order of ten years before the Tribulation begins. This is not a hard and fast rule. I am making a judgment based on Revelation 2:10, plus the recent rise in Christian persecution, and also on the contemporary formations of world governments (read my commentary titled The Leopard is Upon Us), and also on the gathering battle of Gog and Magog (read my commentary titled Magog Made Easy). In other words I see end time prophecies on the march.

I would like to point out that the ten days of suffering that Christians will endure may also describe a relatively brief period of persecution that will happen at the time that the Antichrist is revealed just before the Resurrection and Rapture. Revelation 2:10 was written to the Church in Smyrna which is in Turkey today. So Rev 2:10 may be addressing Christian persecution specifically in Turkey. Turkish President Erdogan has declared war between cross and crescent, between Christianity and Islam.

James tells Christians to patiently wait for the latter rain and the fruit of the earth.

Jas 5:7-8 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. 8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

James is telling us to wait for the saving work of the Holy Spirit and the harvest of souls in the latter church period. We should wait patiently for the Resurrection and Rapture. The Church today is being severely persecuted; world governments are a wreck; and God is saving many people in improbable places.

Note: There is a national turning to Jesus by Israel at the end of the Tribulation. (Zec 12).
