Ezekiel 38 describes a Middle Eastern invasion into Israel. It is called the battle of Gog and Magog. Most teach that this battle is led by Russia. It is high time to rethink that position. Every nation that is listed in Ezekiel 38 is now fighting in Syria! This battle is led by Turkey!!! The first phase of the battle of Gog and Magog may begin very soon!!!
Gog is the land of modern Turkey. Magog is its leader. Ezekiel 38 describes a Turkish led invasion into Israel.
Ezekiel 38:5 Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet:
Ezekiel 38:5 above describes the armed forces that will join Turkey in its invasion into Israel. Turkey will be joined by Iran (Persia), Ethiopia (The original Hebrew word is Cush which describes the land south of Egypt. Cush represents present day Sudan), and Libya.
Ezekiel 38:5 also describes an event that is happening now! The Free Syrian Army is fighting against Syrian President Bashar Assad and the Syrian army. The Free Syrian Army is advertised as being Syrian freedom fighters, but they aren’t. They are a band of foreign jihadists fighting to install Muslim Brotherhood leadership in Syria.
So, what current event is Ezekiel 38:5 describing? Soldiers from Turkey, Iran, Sudan, and Libya are all fighting in Syria today. The Free Syrian Army is made up of mostly Libyans and is fighting under Turkish leadership!
Reports are mixed, but the rebel army fighting against Assad and the Syrian army may consist of some 300,000 troops. Their General is Mahdi al-Harati, commander of Libya’s Tripoli Brigade. The fighters are not Syrians from Damascus or Aleppo but they are imported jihadists. The Syrian people are working to identify and remove the foreign fighters. In the field the vast majority of “freedom fighters” are under Turkish command. The fighters are professionals who fought in Afghanistan, Bosnia, Chechnya, or Iraq. The largest contingency of the Free Syrian Army is made up of Al Qaeda terrorists from Libya. Add to the mix jihadists from Iraq and Jordan and you have the Free Syrian Army.
How many Troops are likely to turn to Invade Israel? The Turkish Army is amassed along the Syrian border. The Turkish Army has over 400,000 troops but only has an estimated 54,000 on the Syrian border. The Free Syrian Army is fighting against Syrian President Bashar Assad’s regime. The Free Syrian Army is made up primarily of Libyans along with some Syrians and Jordanians. There are about 300,000 soldiers in the Free Syrian Army. Iran and South Sudan are represented in Syria by Hezbollah. For some reason nobody wants to admit that Hezbollah is present in Syria. Nobody wants to say how many Hezbollah soldiers are in Syria. However reports say that their numbers are increasing. I heard early reports that some 10,000 Hezbollah soldiers were in Syria, but judging by the damage that they are doing I think their numbers are closer to 50,000. The Iranian Army also has a presence in Syria. Also many Sunni Sudanese militants have joined one of the several Al-Qaeda factions that are fighting in Syria. So there are perhaps 500,000 soldiers available to Invade Israel. That is not counting the 300,000 active soldiers in the Syrian Army. Since Syria is not mentioned among the Armies that invade Israel in Ezekiel 38 we won’t include their numbers.
In Ezekiel 38:6 below, Gomer and Togarmah are people who settled in today’s Turkey. They are joined by “many people” in their invasion into Israel.
Eze 38:6 Gomer, and all his bands; the house of Togarmah of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many people with thee.
In Ezekiel 38 Turkey leads the bands from Iran, Sudan, and Libya into Israel. The Turkish army is now conveniently amassed on the Syrian border.
It is my contention that the Turkish led Free Syrian Army will destroy Damascus as prophesied in Isaiah 17:1 and Jeremiah 49:24-27, and then possibly turn south a few miles into Israel. The stage is now set for the first part of the battle of Gog and Magog described in Ezekiel 38. This is a situation that the church should be watching. It is High Time to Awake!

High Time to Awake 
At present, you state Turkey is leading the jihadists now fighting in Syria. The jihadist rebel/Al Kaida professionals you say joining Turkey are mainly from Libya, and some from Ethiopia/Sudan and Iran. I am curious to know how you know Turkey is in charge of these fighters in light of the fact you state the Turkish fighters are not the predominant nation fighting in this group? Of course, the news media has not mentioned these details at all.

The news media has mentioned that many of the Sargents in the field fighting with Al-Qaeda are Turkish. Look to the BBC, The Guardian, Haaretz, and others. The fighters from Iran and Sudan are Hezbollah. They are fighting against Al-Qaeda (Aka: The Free Syrian Army). All of this information is readily available through most news sources.

I do believe , Ethiopia mean in the bible probably far more different than the what we have now the modern state of Ethiopia . Take a glance all these member of allies are the modern Ethiopian historical enemies . Directly or indirectly they had been sponsor many wars against Ethiopia. No one can trace what similarity can be found between Ethiopia , these country mentioned in the allies . We know according to the Bible , Ethiopia is the area which is encompasses the river “Gion” , probably river Nile . How vast is this area covers. How many modern states are come as modern states. Eritrea and South Sudan came as independent modern states in the past 20 years only. Let God bless Ethiopia.

Hi Addis: We are told about an end time Turkish led invasion into Israel in Ezekiel 38. Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya will join Turkey in this invasion. Most folks know that Persia is the ancient name for today’s Iran. Libya is easily identified as today’s Libya. But when it comes to identifying Ethiopia we may falter. It seems obvious at first but the English translation is somewhat misleading. The English translators chose a convenient title for their day but the nation of Ethiopia didn’t exist at the time that Ezekiel wrote his prophecy!

The name Ethiopia is only as old as about 400 AD. That name was given long after Ezekiel wrote his prophecy (Ezekiel 38:5)! The name Ethiopia comes from the Greek word “Aethiopia” referring to the people who lived south of Egypt. The original Hebrew word translated as “Ethiopia” in the English bible is the Hebrew word “Cush”. Look it up in your concordance! Cush was one of Noah’s grandsons who settled the land south of Egypt (Genesis 10, 1Chronicles 1). Sudan is the major nation today that is located directly south of Egypt. Ethiopia is southeast of Sudan. When you read “Ethiopia” in the English bible you can be certain that it is referring to the modern day nation of Sudan!
By the way all of these nations are represented in the forces fighting in Syria today! It seems likely that after the destruction of Damascus, Syria that these armies will turn south into Israel led by Turkey! It is High Time to Awake!

Present-day Ethiopia is a mostly-Christian country (largely Orthodox but there are Evangelicals as well).
I think the ally of Turkey will be Sudan which is now predominantly Muslim especially after losing its non-Muslim south.

You are right all the way with your deductions and biblical observations. The time of Anti Christ is now. The devils instrument is lying in wait on the Turkish/Syrian border, ready to attack. I just sent an email; but, thought of one more thing. In Daniel 11, when Antichrist invades North Africa, it says he will conquer Egypt. It also says the Libyans and Ethiopians will “be at his heels” or ” at his steps”. I take this to mean they will be allied with Antichrist. Would this not give some support to the fact that the invasion led by Gog is the same as the invasion led by Antichrist in Daniel 11? If the armies of Libya and Ethiopia (Sudan) are destroyed in the invasion of Gog, then who are these that are coming with Antichrist in Daniel 11. Could Ezekiel 38 and Daniel 11 not be talking about the same invasion?? Thanks

Hi Tom. You are one sharp cookie! I give you a lot of credit. You should be teaching. I think Ezekiel 38 happens first near the beginning of the tribulation. Then Turkey Iran and sudan invade Egypt near the end of the first half of the tribulation. Sir, something wrong here..are you sure the Persian (the Iranian) are fighting against Magog and his Allies (the Al-Qaeda) ??
So far i know the Persian are not Sunni Islam and they fighting against the Al-Qaeda Army (Sunni Islam) you are right but in Ezekiel 38:6, the LORD said : ….many peoples are with you. and in Ezekiel 38:9 the LORD said again to Ezekiel before Magog´s Army coming to Israel :
You will advance, coming on like a storm. You will be like a cloud covering the land, you and all your hordes and many peoples with you.
many peoples = Persian, Cush, Libyan (Ezekiel 38:5)
But the Persian today (Iran) are not Magog´s Allies..because they are not Sunni Islam.

Both countries are Sunni Islam countries.
Afghanistan & Pakistan are part of the Persian Empire once…Long time ago…the Indo Aryan People (the Persian) lived there Centuries ago.

Hi Jazzy. That is a very good observation. Iran isn’t fighting against Turkey directly. Hezbollah fighters from Iran and Sudan are currently fighting against Al-Qaeda in Syria. Ezekiel 38 says that they will join Turkey in an invasion into Israel.

Do you think that Turkey may be using the Kurdish fighters to push ISIS back into Mosul, then after succeeding in Kobani, they may set their sights on Damascus?

Kobani is very close to falling. Turkey probably likes that ISIS (Al-Qaeda) is fighting against Assad.

I think with the fact that Russia is now leading the fight in Syria they cannot be eliminated from the Battle of Gog and Magog. I further do not see Russia being lead by any Turkish military regime. However, I do see Russia, the great bear, leading this large army.

Hi Gary. Ezekiel 38 does not identify Russia in the battle of Gog and Magog. It does however identify the ruler of Turkey.

It is important to recognize that the Gog and Magog of Ezekiel 38-39 is quite different from the one in Revelation 20:7-8 . Below are some of the more obvious reasons why these refer to different people and battles.
1. In the battle of Ezekiel 38-39 , the armies come primarily from the north and involve only a few nations of the earth ( Ezekiel 38:6 , 15; 39:2 ). The battle in Revelation 20:7-9 will involve all nations, so armies will come from all directions, not just from the north.
2. There is no mention of Satan in the context of
Ezekiel 38-39 . In Revelation 20:7 the context clearly places the battle at the end of the millennium with Satan as the primary character.
3. Ezekiel 39:11-12 states that the dead will be buried for seven months. There would be no need to bury the dead if the battle in Ezekiel 38-39 is the one described in Revelation 20:8-9 , for immediately following Revelation 20:8-9 is the Great White Throne judgment (20:11-15) and then the current or present heaven and earth are destroyed, replaced by a new heaven and earth ( Revelation 21:1 ). There obviously will be a need to bury the dead if the battle takes place in the early part of the tribulation, for the land of Israel will be occupied for another 1,000 years, the length of the millennial kingdom ( Revelation 20:4-6 ).
4. The battle in Ezekiel 38-39 is used by God to bring Israel back to Him ( Ezekiel 39:21-29 ). In
Revelation 20, Israel has been faithful to God for 1,000 years (the millennial kingdom). Those in
Revelation 20:7-10 who are rebellious are destroyed without any more opportunity for repentance.

Hi Daniel. You are correct. We can draw distinctions between Gog and Magog in Ezekiel and Revelation. We can even draw distinctions between Ezekiel chapter 38 and 39. Actually I think it quite obvious that the Prince of the Rosh refers to the Russian Dictator Putin, the Father of modern day Christian Eschatology, Hal Lindsey, asertained back in the early 70’s that the decendants of Gog and Maygog are now the present day Moscowvites. That and the very name, Russia, means people of the Rosh. Another reason for believing we are dealing with Russia here is that Ezekiel 38 is mainly about a former world superpower trying to reestablish itself as the major, dominant economic influence in its immediate southern sphere of influence (the Middle East).
In fact the mention of such nations like Iran, Ethiopia, Libya, Syria and the like reinforce this opinion given that, today, they already gravitate towards Russia in their political leanings, much of what Ezekial 38 describes now being refered to in the news (how Putin wants to re-establish Russia as a major world player in international affairs).
And if all that isn’t enough I find it significant that Putin’s first name is “Vladimir”, Vladimir meaning quite literally “Prince” (as in “Prince Putin of the Rosh” perhaps?).

Hi Jim: I am familiar with the view that Magog represents Russia. I like Hal Lindsey but he is wrong on this one. Who is “Magog” the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal? The word translated as “chief’ in Ezekiel 38:2 is the hebrew word “Rosh”. Is Magog really Russia as so many Bible teachers say? They say that the Hebrew word “Rosh” means Russia. Rosh might sound a bit like Russia but the Hebrew word Rosh means “first or primary”. Nowhere else in Bible prophecy is a verse interpreted by identifying an English homophone; or a word that sounds the same as another word. The Hebrew word “Rosh” doesn’t identify a nation at all.
The nations that you mentioned are not the nations that Ezekiel mentions. Syria is not mentioned at all in Ezekiel chapter 38. The Hebrew word that is translated as Ethiopia in Ezekiel 38:5 is the name “Cush”. Cush settled in the land south of Egypt which is Sudan today. Meshech and Tubal are Magog’s brothers. they can be found in the genealogies. Magog, Meshech, and Tubal were the first princes that were set over provinces in the land that we call Turkey today. Magog, Meshech, and Tubal were the names of provinces in the land that we call turkey today. Look at any Bible map. Magog the “chief prince” of Meshech and Tubal is the “primary governor” of Turkey. Military forces from Iran, Libya, and Sudan are fighting in the Golan Heights of Syria today! Turkish President Erdogan has declared to the Islamic world that the Golan Heights must be taken away from Israel. The Turkish Army has already entered Syria. Soon the Turkish Army will enter Syria in force. They will first fight against Hamah and Tell Rifaat as foretold in Jeremiah 49:23. Then the residents of Damascus will flee and Damascus will be destroyed.
After the destruction of Damascus then Turkish President Erdogan will lead the forces that are now fighting in the Golan Heights of Syria into the Golan Heights of Israel. This is the battle of Gog and Magog that is described in Ezekiel chapter 38. By the way, Turkish President Erdogan is the Antichrist!
Russia has a place in end time Bible prophecy but it is not described by Ezekiel. Russia is the bear of Daniel 7:5. Russia will create an end time Russian Union.
