The falling away of Satan precedes the revealing of the Antichrist

2 Thessalonians chapter 2:3

By Craig C. White

2 Thessalonians chapter 2 is not about the apostasy of the Church. Nor is it about the removal of the Holy Spirit from the Earth during the Tribulation period. It is a reminder to us to remember the teachings of the Old Testament Prophets.

2Thessalonians 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition.

Paul is not revealing any new prophetic information here. He is reminding us about the prophecies of Isaiah (Isa 14:12) and Daniel (Dan 9:27). Isaiah tells us about the falling away of Satan from heaven, then the Antichrist defiles the temple in Jerusalem in the book of Daniel.

Isa 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

Dan 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

These are two events that precede the Tribulation. Paul is assuring the Thessalonians that the Tribulation had not yet begun. They haven’t missed the Rapture!

The man of sin is revealed as he sits in the newly built temple in Jerusalem claiming that he is god (2Thessalonians 2:4). This doesn’t mean that the Antichrist will not be identifiable beforehand. Today it has become obvious who the Antichrist is! Turkish President Erdogan is the Antichrist!

Paul reminds the Thessalonians to adhere to the teachings of the Old Testament!

2Thessalonians 2:15-17 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.

The falling of Satan from heaven restrains or comes before the Antichrist as he sits in the temple. Remember that Isaiah and Daniel told us all about it! 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 isn’t about revealing new prophecy but it is about remembering what we have already been taught by the Old Testament Prophets. I hope that we have finally begun to understand 2 Thessalonians chapter 2.

  1. I wonder if satan has already fallen from Heaven. The way things are going in our world, it seems like he has already fallen. If he hasn’t, I hate to see what it will be like here on Earth when he does! I don’t understand why everyone doesn’t see what is happening, even some preachers whom I have showed articles to about Turkey don’t see it. Why do you think that is?Why aren’t more people watching?

    1. Hi Jennifer. I also wonder if Satan has fallen from heaven to earth yet. I wonder if his fall is an event that will be very noticeable to the world. I would think that Satan’s fall must be clearly identifiable because the Apostle Paul lists his fall as one of two events that precede the Tribulation. The other event being the revealing of the Antichrist as he sits in the temple of God showing himself that he is God. Or perhaps Satan’s fall will be evidenced by the revealing of the Antichrist as he sits in the temple. It wouldn’t surprise me to see a great flash of lightning coming from heaven landing in Turkey. I agree, when Satan falls things on earth are going to get much worse. It is possible that Satan will fall just before Jerusalem’s great tribulation which begins in the middle of the seven year tribulation period. Perhaps the Church will be in heaven already?

You asked why don’t more people recognize that Erdogan is Antichrist. Because people don’t really care about God.

  2. Hi Craig enjoying reading everything on high time to awake but not sure on your interpretation of Satan’s fall surely isiah 14 is talking about his initial fall from heaven as lucifer son of the morning he is no more lucifer surely, as he is now called the devil and Satan who deceiveth the whole world revelation 12 we areintroduced to a woman clothed with the sun and the moon under her feet which also takes us back to Joseph dream when the moon and the stars made obeisance to him there the nation of Israel was born by Joseph exaltation in Egypt so clearly this is Israel a great red dragon is introduced depicting all of Satan’s murderous activities and how he took a third of the angels and cast them to the earth and went to destroy the woman who brought forth the man child surely he tried to accomplish this through herod who tried to kill our Lord at his birth but he was caught up to God and his throne dealing with our Lords ascension to heaven so we are given a behind the scene scenario of what took place through herod and who was behind it namely Satan as we are also introduced to his fall as in isiah 14 scripture will back up scripture while I do believe that there will be demonic activity before our Lord returns I’m not sure about this falling from heaven again he is here and he confronts us face to face that’s why we need to have on the armour blessings

    1. Hi Ian. Thank you for referring to scripture in your comment.

In 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 the Apostle Paul identifies Satan as empowering the Antichrist.

2Th 2:9-10 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

Revelation chapter 12 identifies Satan falling sometime before the residents of Judea flee to the wilderness for three and one half years. This happens in the future during Jerusalem’s great tribulation.

Rev 12:12-14 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. 13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child. 14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.
