Saudi Arabia and Iran in Bible Prophecy

Saudi Arabia is the odd man out in the Muslim world. 90% of the population is Wahhabi (Sunni) Muslim, 10% are Shia Muslim. Saudi Arabia is ruled by the Saudi Royal family and Sunni Al-Qaeda terrorists fight against them inside of their own country. Saudi Arabia is hated by Iran and also by Turkey. In Turkish President Erdogan’s speech in November 2014 announcing the formation of a new Islamic Union he called Saudi Arabia the enemy of the Islamic Union.

Saudi Arabia is the arch enemy of the Shia Islam dominated nation of Iran. In Yemen Iran is supporting Houthis (Shia) militia as well as Al Qaeda (Sunni) terrorists to take over the nation. It is unusual that the Shia and Sunni factions fight for the same side. In Yemen it is to Iran’s advantage to destabilize the nation even if it means that the Sunni Muslim Al-Qaeda terrorists assist. Al-Qaeda is fighting in Yemen in order to expand its Caliphate. I am certain that Yemen will fall to Iranian control but then it will no doubt break out into a Shia vs Sunni battleground.

Saudi Arabia is fighting in Yemen because they don’t want their neighboring nation to fall into their enemy Iran’s control.

The war between Iran and Saudi Arabia in Yemen is not specifically mentioned in the Bible but it is a preview of the wars to come during the Tribulation period.

In Revelation chapter 9 I think that the Shia Muslim population declares an all-out war on the Sunni Muslims. Four nations located along the Euphrates River will march to war. The vast majority of Shia Muslims live along the Euphrates River in Syria, Iraq, and Iran. The Shia population as of 2009 is estimated to be 200 million. I think that you may be able to add the Kurds to this fight because historically they have sided with Iran.

Rev 9:13-16 And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, 14 Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates. 15 And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men. 16 And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them.

Iran is the aggressor in Yemen. Iran will also be the aggressor in a full scale Shia vs Sunni Islamic war. Worldwide 85% of Muslims are Sunni. So the Shia minority will rise up against the Sunni majority. This happens during the Tribulation. Iran along with Iraq and others will go to war with Saudi Arabia, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan and perhaps a few other nations.

I think that the city known as “Mystery Babylon” will be destroyed by Iran, perhaps with the assistance of the Kurds; just like ancient Babylon was destroyed by the Medes and Persians. I am certain that Mystery Babylon is a city in Arabia. Mecca is the number one suspect since it is the seat of Islam.

Isa 21:2 A grievous vision is declared unto me; the treacherous dealer dealeth treacherously, and the spoiler spoileth. Go up, O Elam: besiege, O Media; all the sighing thereof have I made to cease.

Elam is ancient Persia or modern Iran. Media refers to the Medes or roughly the area of Northern Iraq, and Eastern Turkey. Today the Kurds represent the ancient Medes. Just as they destroyed Babylon in the past, they may destroy Mystery Babylon in the future.

While Shia Islam is killing millions of it’s neighbors I think that Turkey will be leading Sunni Muslims to kill and to conquer millions of people in northern Africa. I think that Turkey and Iran will be united together under a new Islamic Empire. We can see how horrific conditions have become in Yemen. This is certain to spread throughout the old world during the Tribulation period. That is why Jesus Christ will compassionately remove Christians from the earth before the Tribulation begins in earnest.

Mat 24:6-7 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

The verses above are written to the Jews living in Israel during the first half of the Tribulation. When Israel sees Iran attack Saudi Arabia then they will know that the worst part of their suffering is about to begin.

Saudi Arabia is also identified in Ezekiel chapter 38. They will ask Turkey, Libya, Iran, and Sudan, “Have you come to rob Israel?”

I think that Iran will destroy Mecca along with much of Saudi Arabia
