Turkish President Erdogan erects image of a revived Ottoman Empire

Image of the beast

By Craig C. White

The end time is marked by the revival of the last world empire. Most Bible teachers identify this world empire as Rome but they overlook the only other world empire to exist since Rome fell. Between 1299-1923 the Turkish ruled Ottoman Empire conquered territory from western Europe to India. There have been other empires but none of them were world empires. To qualify as a “world empire” a nation must rule a contiguous land mass covering multiple quadrants of the old world; namely Europe, Russia, Africa, and western Asia. Turkey is right in the middle of all of these regions. The revival of the Turkish ruled Ottoman Empire marks the end time, and Turkish President Erdogan is ambitiously rebuilding it. To celebrate the one year anniversary of the failed military coup in Turkey, Erdogan has erected a giant statue commemorating the rise again of the Ottoman Empire. He also hinted at reunification of all Islamic nations under Turkish rule. Tek Devlet “One State” the image read. Sounds like the tower of Babylon all over again. Please notice that this statue does not honor the god of Islam but is does honor the god of Turkish military conquest (the god of forces).

Dan 11:38 But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces: and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.

The Bible tells us that an image will be made representing the next world empire. Revelation 13:14 seems to suggest that the “False Prophet” will command that this image should be made. Anybody who does not worship the image will be killed. The beast in Revelation 13:15 is the end time world empire. The beast can also describe the ruler of the next world empire. Is Erdogan’s statue the image of the beast mentioned in Revelation? Maybe. Turkish President Erdogan’s pillar certainly qualifies as an image of a revived Ottoman Empire.

Rev 13:15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

Remember when Erdogan gave a speech as a nine foot tall hologram? That also qualifies as an image that represents the ruler of a revived Ottoman Empire. The hologram could also speak. Any way that you slice it, Erdogan is on the move to reestablish a Turkish ruled empire.

So many Christians balk when I identify the Antichrist. They say that nobody can know, and that we shouldn’t be looking for the Antichrist. What a mistake. The Bible gives us a lot of information about the identity and actions of the Antichrist. We ought not neglect its warnings. It is especially important to warn Israel of its coming time of trouble. If we love Israel then we should be concerned about their welfare. It is shameful that this never enters the minds of so many Christians. When asked about the timing of the Rapture and the Tribulation period, the Apostle Paul said that the Antichrist would rise before the Tribulation begins. Recognizing the identity of the Antichrist warns us that the Tribulation on Earth is about to begin. It also warns believers that they are about to meet their Lord and savior.

Turkish President Erdogan is the Antichrist. The Bible tells us that he will invade Hamah and Tell Rifaat in northwestern Syria, destroy Damascus, lead an invasion into northern Israel, invade Egypt by many ships and much more. Erdogan has already promised to do all of these things. It is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed (Rom 13:11) .

  1. Craig,

This memorial is the most bold statement yet lending evidence that Turkey fits the profile for the resurrected beast. Another dome shaped memorial has been placed near the Bosphorus Bridge, and it has a four step amphitheatre with a speaker system that recites the prayer of Islam. In my opinion, that is speaking blasphemy against God. I wouldn’t be surprised if this memorial is equipped with speakers to send out the Salah as well. Every mosque in the Muslim world does this 5 times a day. The Ottoman War Lords in front of the memorial really send up theological red flags in light of Daniel’s prophecy. It is also very telling that Erdogan and all of his journalistic minions are taking this celebration time to focus on Al-Aqsa and declaring Israel guilty of occupation. The Ottoman Swords are gleaming and pointed towards Israel.

In regards to Mosul in light of this event in Turkey. If, as you have said that, “Nineveh is to become an archeological site” then I am quite sure the main theme will not be the prophecy of Nahum. Just as is the case, when most 6th grade teachers present ancient civilizations in the Middle East, they conveniently leave out the biblical history and major in the polytheistic cultures of Mesopotamia and Egypt. Unless archeologist and historians with a Jewish or Christian background are involved in telling the story of Nineveh, then Nahum and Jonah will not be emphasized. Perhaps this will get Jewish scholars and the church to be reminded of the true history of Nineveh. We might look for some type of anniversary celebration commemorating the retaking of Mosul, absent of any reference to the biblical accounts of Nineveh’s history. That might be the right time for God to remind Israel of Jonah.

    1. Hi David. Nobody needs to guess if Erdogan wants to reestablish the Turkish ruled Ottoman Empire or not. He has made it clear for the past decade. However. every highly regarded Bible scholar will never be convinced of this. Turkish President Erdogan is the Antichrist. Understanding this fact will gain heavenly reward when you see Jesus. Rejecting this fact will cost you.

The palace of Assyrian King Sennacherib was rediscovered in eastern Mosul in February 2017. Archeologists are eager to excavate the site, but I don’t think that they will ever get the chance. I think that Sennacherib’s palace will be dissolved by a flood beforehand.

Because of the near complete devastation of western Mosul the Iraqis are proposing that the Old City neighborhood be abandoned and turned into an archaeological site. I think that western Mosul will also be flooded. In the book of Nahum God says that he will cast abominable filth on Nineveh (or Mosul). I expect the flooding of Mosul to happen soon.

  2. They are now estimating that 40,000 innocent civilians were slaughtered during the attack on mosul. There’s no doubt that prophecy has been fulfilled in regards to the indictment of being a bloody city full of violence.

    1. Agreed. When I read the first hand accounts from the civilians escaping the Old City neighborhood of western Mosul I knew that Nahum’s prophecy applies today. They said that they stumbled over dead bodies while leaving.

Nahum 3:1-3 Woe to the bloody city! it is all full of lies and robbery; the prey departeth not; 2 The noise of a whip, and the noise of the rattling of the wheels, and of the pransing horses, and of the jumping chariots. 3 The horseman lifteth up both the bright sword and the glittering spear: and there is a multitude of slain, and a great number of carcases; and there is none end of their corpses; they stumble upon their corpses:

  3. Kurdish Pastor: Turkey Bigger Threat to Israel than Iran

JERUSALEM, Israel – A Kurdish pastor is issuing a wake-up call to Israel and the West: Turkey, not Iran, is Israel’s biggest threat, and Turkey is aiming to take over Kurdish controlled areas of Iraq.

In a letter to CBN News detailing the Turkish-led siege on the Kurds in northern Syria, Pastor Majeed Mohammed, formerly with the Kurdsman Church in Erbil, says while Iran has not hidden its agenda against Israel, Turkey’s Islamist President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is the bigger enemy.

Erdogan is preparing the way for the rebirth of the Islamic caliphate by rallying the ‘Islamic brotherhood’ to surround the Jewish state and destroy it. That eventuality would be pleasing to the Muslim world, Erdogan says.

Majeed, who is now living abroad, says there are many Christians in Afrin who are crying out for help.

The West, he pleads, must wake up to the Turkish siege against Afrin and other Kurdish cities in Syria and Iraq before he succeeds in extending the Shiite crescent along northern Iraq to the Mediterranean Sea.

Erdogan has mobilized radical Islamic militias to attack the Kurdish population in northern Syria. He is using Russian-manufactured tanks, airstrikes, and cluster bombs against civilians.

Majeed says thousands of mosques in and out of Turkey have joined Erdogan’s call to wipe out the Kurds, while the West and the US have been largely silent.

Turkey’s Islamist president has armed, trained and equipped these militias inside Syria, he writes, listing several by name and a description.

    •    The Sultan Murad Brigade, which gets its full financial, logistical and military support from Turkey and is training fighters there and in Syria
    •    The Hamza Squad, also trained in Turkey, which conquered Jarablus – a Syrian city on the western bank of the Euphrates River – last year
    •    The al-Sham Legion, established in Syria in 2014, made up of 19 Islamic terror groups, including Suqoor al-Jabal Brigade
    •     The Noor-aldeen movement, one of the most dangerous jihadist groups in Syria, was the first to begin slaughtering children

In the weekly sermons on Fridays – the Muslim day of prayer – mosques in Turkey, Sudan, Libya, Kuwait, Qatar, Egypt, Syria, and Lebanon, among others, have been asking Allah to prosper their new Sultan, Erdogan, and the caliphate he will head. According to Majeed, their prayer is based on a portion in the Koran.

Pastor Majeed says the facts on the ground prove two realities:

    •    Erdogan envisions himself as head of the “last caliphate of Islam” and is bent on redrawing the map of the Middle East. He’s against stabilization in the region and sees his role as using jihadists to prove he is “the only one who understands, feels, acts, initiates and supports” the Middle East – not Russia, the United States or the international community.

    •    Majeed believes Erdogan’s lack of success (through NATO) of being a “European member” has refocused him on extending his power throughout the Middle East. The Kurds are the only “stumbling stone” to achieving his goal. By accusing them of being infidels and attacking them, he’s justifying his own aggression and providing a path to mobilize Islamic militias everywhere to unite against the Kurds. The fact that some of these militias have been trained by international allies and are members of the international coalition complicates the situation even further, he explains.

“How does the United States permit such violence against an ally who stood and fought beside US soldiers shoulder to shoulder and respected what the Americans suggested on the ground in Syria?” he asks.

Middle East expert Jonathan Spyer agrees that the implications of a Turkish takeover in Afrin “are quite grave.”

“The Kurds are fighting very hard, but probably in the course of the coming days and weeks, the Turks will push forward and the implications of it are quite grave,” Spyer told CBN News.

“I mean there’s a large Kurdish population in there. The Turks are operating with some pretty dangerous Salafi jihadi Islamist fighters, Syrian rebel fighters on the ground in cooperation with them. There’s been aerial bombings on civilians, there’s been a number of civilians killed,” Spyer said.

“The implications are bad from a humanitarian point of view. From a political point of view they’re quite grave as well,” he said.

“Let’s remember that the Syrian Kurds are currently partners of the United States in Syria. You know they’re the people who fought ISIS together with US air power, special forces over the last two years successfully. And there are towns further east where US personnel are present in cooperation with them. And the Turks have named those towns as places they want to conquer too and have warned the Americans to get their forces out of those areas,” he added.

“So the potential for at least a clash of words and maybe even something worse between the US and its so-called NATO ally, the Republic of Turkey, are becoming more and more real by the day,” Spyer concluded.

Majeed says the silence of the free world has spurred Erdogan on to try every way to conquer Afrin. They have barbarically murdered anyone they’ve captured, bombed hospitals and schools, while snipers target the innocent – old and young alike, shouting Allahu Akbar (Allah is greater than all).

“Erdogan is that man who must be stopped and judged for his tremendous crimes against humanity in [and] outside Turkey as soon as possible,” he concludes.
