Meanwhile in Idlib

The destruction of Damascus is brewing

The Syrian war is in its ninth year. The Assad regime has managed to corral the remaining Sunni Al-Qaeda opposition forces into the Idlib province in northwestern Syria.

Syrian ally Russia has agreed to allow Turkey to police the Idlib province in order to stop the fighting between the Syrian Army in the surrounding Hamah and Aleppo provinces and the Al-Qaeda forces inside of Idlib. The most aggressive jihadist group inside of Idlib is Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS). Under Turkish oversight all of the Al-Qaeda factions have united with HTS and now have a stranglehold on Idlib. Fighting between Al-Qaeda and the Syrian Army has increased. Turkey has supported all of these Al-Qaeda factions. A chain of command has been established between the Turkish Army and the jihadist groups in Idlib. The Turkish Army has set up several military positions in Idlib. Some media reports have even claimed that HTS fighters had provided escorts for Turkish troops moving into their positions in the region.

Turkey and Russia have become very tightly intertwined both militarily and economically. Even though they are on opposite sides in Syria, each nation has been cautious not to criticize the other. The Syrian government has threatened to make an assault on Idlib. According to Russian Retired Brig. Gen. Naim Baburoglu, Russia is postponing a Syrian regime assault on Idlib until Turkey has purchased the S-400 anti-ballistic missile systems that Turkey has committed to buy from Russia.

All of this is important when it comes to Bible prophecy. The Prophet Jeremiah says that when Hamah and Tell Rifaat in northwestern Syria hear evil reports then the residents of Damascus will flee and Damascus will be destroyed. The Turkish Army along with their Al-Qaeda allies are threatening Hamah and Tell Rifaat now. Tell Rifaat is called Arpad in Jeremiah 49:23. Tell Rifaat is the last remaining Kurdish held town in northwestern Syria. The Turkish Army has already cleared the Kurds from the surrounding Afrin region.

Jeremiah 49:23 Concerning Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad: for they have heard evil tidings: they are fainthearted; there is sorrow on the sea; it cannot be quiet.

Turkey will attack the Syrian and Kurdish held regions of northwestern Syria and then march southward to destroy Damascus. Turkey will lead the Sunni Al-Qaeda Free Syrian Army along with the rebel groups that have united with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS). After Turkey destroys Damascus then Iran will join Turkey and company in an invasion into northern Israel as Ezekiel chapter 38 describes. Jesus will return to stop them!
