The destruction of Damascus is still future!
Jeremiah prophesied long after Isaiah

Please allow me to defend the future fulfillment of the destruction of Damascus. Many Bible scholars claim that the destruction of Damascus has already taken place. They say that the Assyrian conquest of Damascus in 734 BC fulfills the Damascus prophecy. Well Damascus was conquered by Assyria in 734 BC and several cities around Damascus were burned with fire but Damascus has never been completely destroyed. These Bible teachers argue that the Assyrian conquest of Damascus happened shortly after Isaiah gave his prophecy about the destruction of Damascus.
Isaiah 17:1 The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.
It is true that the Assyrians conquered Damascus and wreaked havoc on surrounding towns shortly after Isaiah predicted the event. I am certain that much of Isaiah’s prophecy was fulfilled in 734 BC, BUT long after Isaiah gave his prophecy the Prophet Jeremiah also predicted the destruction of Damascus.
Jeremiah 49:23-25 Concerning Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad: for they have heard evil tidings: they are fainthearted; there is sorrow on the sea; it cannot be quiet. 24 Damascus is waxed feeble, and turneth herself to flee, and fear hath seized on her: anguish and sorrows have taken her, as a woman in travail. 25 How is the city of praise not left, the city of my joy!
Jeremiah was a prophet of Israel around 600 BC. Jeremiah gave his prophecy one hundred years after Assyria conquered Damascus in 734 BC. So the Assyrian conquest of Damascus cannot possibly fulfill Jeremiah’s prophecy. The destruction of Damascus is still future.
I think that Jeremiah is prophesying about an invasion of Damascus that is forming now. Turkey will destroy Damascus!

Erdogan said during his visit to the province of Hatay on the Turkish-Syrian border that the days of the “Syrian terrorist regime” are numbered. So soon it is worth waiting for missile strikes on the administration of Assad in the old city.

Hi Craig,
Did you see the recent article by Walid about the Turkish writer who is close to Erdagon saying that if Erdagon is elected in 2019 as President that the caliphate will return?
He has this quote in the article, “Erdogan will become the Caliph in 2023 and Allah will shed his light upon him.”
What are your thoughts on this? I know that Walid does not believe in the rapture, so he does not have any ideas added in on how he thinks it will all fit in, etc.
So do you think the caliphate would be when the antichrist is revealed? Since, the quote says that Allah will shed his light upon him. Is this when Satan falls from Heaven? Does this begin the tribulation or is it in the middle of the tribulation?
Could Erdagon become Caliph halfway in the tribulation? Because if he is elected in 2019 as President and becomes Caliph in 2023, isn’t that possibly 3 1/2 years?
My thoughts are that everything is lining up right now. Things are happening so fast now. The world is getting so bad. I work in a school and the students are so disrespectful (more than usual). It seems to me that it really cannot get much worse in our world.

To Jennifer, I would highly suggest you also check out BBC international – pastor Gene Kim and also Robert Breaker on YouTube and of course Craig , he’s awesome, they are my go to guys, they’re very similar in their teachings , and you can put two and two together based on what they teach and also reading the Bible and it has helped me big time.
I personally think Satan will fall a bit before the Great tribulation starts (last 3.5 years), so we will already be up there watching events on earth. https://youtu.be/aQNU8fP4Dmo Pastor Gene Kim – he’s really good at rightly dividing the scripture . This is only to help my fellow brothers and sisters discern the truth and come to their own conclusion.

Hi Jennifer. You ask very good questions. The Antichrist will become the head of the next world empire sometime during the the middle of the Tribulation. Erdogan will probably be recognized as the leader of the Islamic world before that.

Oh yes, I don’t believe or agree every teacher is 100% right in certain areas, it’s hard to always be right. Though , some teachers understand certain doctrine better than others. It’s just nice knowing the very best ones.
Like Walid thinks you have to be a catholic to be saved. I don’t believe that, but that is why I said earlier “they’re very similar in their teachings, and you can put two and two together based on what they teach … discern the truth and come to their own conclusion”
