Daniel 7 – The first 3 beasts outlive the 4th!

The 4 beasts of Daniel 7 exist during the end times.

    By Craig C. White

There are several reasons why I think that the beasts in Daniel chapter 7 represent end time kingdoms. One of the most glaring arguments is found in Dan 7:12.

Dan 7:12 As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.

The first three beasts, that is: the lion with eagle’s wings, the bear, and the leopard lives were prolonged for a season and time. A season and time is an idiom meaning approximately one year and three months. The first three beasts survive for one year and three months after the fourth beast is destroyed. This verse cannot apply to ancient world empires as most teach. The ancient world empires did not all exist at the same time. Each world empire defeated the previous world empire. The rest of the beasts, that is: the lion with eagle’s wings, the bear, and the leopard outlive the fourth beast or kingdom. The fourth beast is the next world empire. It exists during the end times. It is in power just before Jesus returns in fury to judge the nations that have gathered against Israel. Therefore the first three beasts also exist during the end times. The first three beasts in Daniel’s prophecy exist before, during, and after the Tribulation period. The fourth beast is destroyed at Jesus’ coming.

The four beasts in Daniel 7 are not ancient world empires. The four beasts are kingdoms that exist before Jesus’ second coming! The first three beasts (or Unions) combine together to form the next world empire. They are all recognizable now! The European Union, The new Russian Union (Yes there is already a new Russian Union), and a coming Middle East Islamic Union will combine to form the next world empire. Don’t wait around to watch the next world empire form because that will probably happen during the seven year long Tribulation period. If you are still around to see the formation of the next world empire then that means that you are in BIG trouble! However we all can see the Russian Union growing today and a new Islamic Union (or leopard) spearheaded by TURKEY on the horizon!

Romans 13:11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

    Will Mosul fall after Kobani?

    Kobani map

Kobani is to ISIS as Thebes is to Assyria

    By Craig C. White

DATELINE DEC 2024: I saw a video where ISIS fighters changed their black clothes and became Free Syrian Army fighters. These groups consist of the same Sunni Muslim Al-Qaeda jihadis.

Speaking of which; the Turkish supported Free Syrian Army is attacking Kobani right now. Kobani is a Kurdish town located in northeast Syria. ISIS took Kobani from the Kurds twice and the Kurds were able to take it back.

I am sure that there are many ISIS fighters in the Free Syrian Army that are attacking Kobani. I think that the Bible indicates that ISIS will be in Mosul celebrating their conquest of Kobani when Jesus returns (at the Rapture) to destroy them with a flood.

Dateline May 2015: ISIS almost took the northern Syrian city of Kobani. Then Kurdish troops forced them out. Now the Kurdish troops have left Kobani. Since there is very little resistance there ISIS is headed back to Kobani!

Dateline November 2014: For the last few weeks the Al-Qaeda terrorist group called ISIS has fought for control over the city of Kobani, Syria. Reports say that Kobani is now very close to falling. ISIS already controls several towns in northern Syria as well as in northern Iraq but the takeover of Kobani is different.

Up until now the towns and villages that ISIS has been able to take a foothold in have contained residents that are sympathetic to the ISIS cause. ISIS fighters are Sunni Muslims. So far ISIS has infiltrated towns that have large Sunni populations. In these towns the citizens have given ISIS refuge and support. Not so in Kobani. While a few Sunni Muslims in Kobani have lent their support to ISIS; Kobani has a majority Kurdish population. The Kurds completely reject Al-Qaeda’s threatened takeover.

Kobani is on the northern Syria border with Turkey. Before the fighting began Kobani had a population of around 50,000 people. The vast majority of Kobani’s Kurdish residents have fled into the Kurdish inhabited areas of Turkey. As a matter of fact some 180,000 Kurds from around Kobani have fled into Turkey. Only a few hundred residents remain in the city. They have been joined by Kurdish troops. Together they are defending Kobani against ISIS but they are gradually losing the battle.

Why am I telling you this? The prophet Nahum predicted the flooding and subsequent plundering of the ancient city of Nineveh. Nineveh fell according to Nahum’s prophecy in 612 BC. Today the city of Mosul in northern Iraq is built around the site of ancient Nineveh. Mosul is the hometown of ISIS. I think that Nahum’s prophecy also applies to the modern day city of Mosul.

Nineveh was the capital city of the ancient Assyrians. Before the destruction of Nineveh the Assyrians had conquered the northern Egyptian city of No-Amon. The Assyrian King named Assur-banipal had conquered the city of No-Amon (or Thebes) in Upper Egypt in 663 B.C. The Assyrians may have been celebrating the fall of No-Amon when the flood hit Nineveh. In the book of Nahum God reminds the Assyrians that if it was possible for the city of No-Amon to fall then Nineveh was just as vulnerable to its own fall. In the book of Nahum No-Amon is simply called No in the English King James Bible.

Nahum 3:8-9 Art thou better than populous No, that was situate among the rivers, that had the waters round about it, whose rampart was the sea, and her wall was from the sea? 9 Ethiopia and Egypt were her strength, and it was infinite; Put and Lubim were thy helpers.

In the verse below, Nahum describes the Assyrians gathered together in a thick crowd when the flood hits. They are drunk celebrating their prior victories. It may be that ISIS will be gathered together in Mosul celebrating their conquest of Kobani when God floods Mosul.

Nahum 1:10 For while they be folden together as thorns, and while they are drunken as drunkards, they shall be devoured as stubble fully dry.

I am only making a comparison between ancient history and modern events. It seems to me that Nahum’s predictions apply to both. Where ISIS is concerned Nahum’s prophecy would seem incomplete without a previously conquered city. Of course I may be all wet here but not as wet as ISIS will be if the Mosul dam breaks!

    Turkey in Bible Prophecy

    Magog Made Easy!

    Ezekiel 38

    By Craig C. White

Turkey has sent ground troops into Syria. Jeremiah 49 tells us that Turkey will enter Syria and then destroy Damascus. After Turkey destroys Damascus; Turkey will then lead the armies that are fighting in Syria today into Israel. The invading forces will be defeated by the hand of God.

Bible prophecy teachers say that Magog in the Ezekiel 38 prophecy refers to Russia. But from my house I can’t see Russia! That view of the Magog prophecy came about by transcribing the word “chief” (or the Hebrew word “rosh”) to mean Russia. Transposing Hebrew words into English phonetic equivalents is not proper Bible prophecy interpretation technique. That technique is not used elsewhere to interpret Bible prophecy. Rosh means first or primary. Magog is a man who settled in the land of modern day Turkey. Magog was the most prominent prince in Turkey. In today’s terms Magog is the primary ruler of Turkey. I feel comfortable calling him the Prime Minister.

Eze 38:1-3 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, 3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:

Verse 2 above tells us that Gog is the LAND of Magog. Magog is the “chief prince” (or most prominent ruler) amongst his brothers Meshech and Tubal. So Noah had a son named Japheth who had a son named Magog who settled in Turkey. Gog is a shortened version of Magog. Gog is the LAND where Magog and his brothers settled. Gog is Turkey, Magog is Turkey’s leader. You now know more than your pastor!

Turkey in Bible prophecyGog (Turkey), map credit: www.blueletterbible.org

Map of Gog (Turkey): The land and cities of Magog and his brothers. It may be a little difficult to find all these names, but they are there. I found Gog, Magog, Mesech (Meshech), Thubal (Tubal), Gomer, Ashkenaz, Riphath, Togarma (Togarmah), and Thiras (or Tiras) west of Istanbul. The generations of Noah are also listed in 1Chronicles 1:5-6

God will fight against these invaders with the forces of nature! God will turn this Turkish led coalition of nations back home by sending them great earthquakes, exceedingly heavy rain, and disease. God will cause every soldier to kill his fellow soldier.

4 pillars for understanding near time Bible prophecy

    Turkey, Turkey, Turkey, and Mosul

    By Craig C. White

Here are four simple insights that will help you to recognize what is going on in the world today.

    1. In Ezekiel chapter 38 the man named Magog is the “chief prince” or primary governor of Turkey. Magog along with his brothers Meshech and Tubal were princes over the provinces of Asia Minor or what we call Turkey today. Ezekiel chapter 38 tells us that the primary ruler of Turkey will lead an invasion into Israel. Ezekiel chapter 39 tells us that the primary ruler of Turkey will also lead the battle of Armageddon. The Antichrist leads the battle of Armageddon so the primary governor of Turkey is the Antichrist. Today Turkish President Erdogan claims that he is god. Turkish President Erdogan is the Antichrist!

    Read Magog Made Easy! https://hightimetoawake.com/magog-made-easy/

    2. Isaiah 17:1 tells us that Damascus will be destroyed. Jeremiah 49:23 tells us that this invasion begins in Syria’s northwestern cities near the Turkish border. Turkey will invade Syria from the northwest and then march down to Damascus. Isaiah chapter 10 identifies the Antichrist as being similar to the ancient Assyrian kings because he will also invade Syria and then invade northern Israel. Turkish President Erdogan will destroy Damascus and then invade Israel.

Jeremiah 49:23 Concerning Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad: for they have heard evil tidings: they are fainthearted; there is sorrow on the sea; it cannot be quiet.

Read The nations are disquieted over Syria. https://hightimetoawake.com/the-nations-are-disquieted-over-syria/

    3. Daniel chapter 7 describes three Unions that will combine to form the next World Empire. These three Unions are 1) the European Union 2) the new Russian Union 3) a new Middle Eastern Union. The new Middle Eastern Union will be represented by a leopard. I think that after Turkey conquers Syria they will then installs Muslim Brotherhood leadership there. Turkey, Syria, Iraq, and Iran will be the first four nations to form this Union. These four nations are all located along the Euphrates River (Revelation 9:14).

Daniel 7:6 After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.

Read The Leopard is Upon Us! https://hightimetoawake.com/the-leopard-is-upon-us/

    4. The book of Nahum indicates that the city of Mosul will be flooded by water. Mosul is located in northern Iraq. The ruins of ancient Nineveh are located within its city limits. God destroyed ancient Nineveh with a flood of water. He will also destroy Mosul with a flood. Mosul is the hometown and headquarters of ISIS.

Nahum 1:8 But with an overrunning flood he will make an utter end of the place thereof, and darkness shall pursue his enemies.

Read The End of ISIS is near! https://hightimetoawake.com/the-end-of-isis-is-near/

To summarize; First Turkey will invade Syria from its northwestern border. Turkey will march down to Damascus and destroy the old city. Turkey will then form a new Middle Eastern Union. After Turkey destroys Damascus it will lead an invasion into Israel. Turkish President Erdogan is the Antichrist! Also at some point soon ISIS will be flooded in Mosul.

  • The Assyrian is the Antichrist!

    The Assyrian is the Antichrist!

    Halfway to Armageddon

Verse by verse through Isaiah 10

    By Craig C. White

Assyria was a world empire. Its capital city was Nineveh, located in the same area as northern Iraq. The ruins of Nineveh can still be seen today across the Tigris River from the modern day city of Mosul.

In 734 BC Assyria conquered Syria and then turned southward into northern Israel. Assyria took captives from both Syria and Israel.

Assyria invaded Israel a second time in 701 BC. This time the Assyrian army made it all the way into southern Israel just outside the city limits of Jerusalem.

Two Assyrian kings led these invasions. The first invasion in 734 BC went into Syria and northern Israel and was led by the Assyrian King Tiglath-pileser. The second invasion in 701 BC went into southern Israel and was led by the Assyrian King Sennacherib. In Bible prophecy these two kings are often referred to as “the Assyrian”. The Assyrian is also a term that applies to the Antichrist because he will do the same things that the original Assyrian kings did.

God used the Assyrian to judge the disobedient nation of Israel. God will again call on a northern invader to judge Israel.

Isaiah chapter 10 predicts the wickedness of the ancient Israeli leadership, the overthrow of the nation of Israel by the Assyrian King Sennacherib and finally God’s restoration of Israel.

But there is a catch! Immediately after the Assyrian invades Israel in Isaiah chapter 10 we are introduced to the Messiah on Earth! That is to say, Jesus Christ sets up his everlasting throne in Jerusalem. In other words this passage also predicts a future event. The Assyrian will once again invade Israel, and then Jesus Christ will come back to Earth to defeat the Assyrian and to rule forever!

OK now listen up; the future invader of Israel called the Assyrian in Isaiah 10 is the same person that is commonly known as the Antichrist! The Antichrist will persecute Israel during the coming seven year Tribulation period just as the Assyrian persecuted Israel long ago.

But wait there is more! I think that Ezekiel chapter 38 and 39 tell us that the primary ruler of Turkey will lead an invasion into Israel in the end time just like Assyria did long ago. As a matter of fact, I think that Ezekiel predicts two separate invasions, both led by the primary ruler of Turkey. Also like the Assyrian invasions of old, the future invasions of Israel will happen in two similar but separate battles.

So the Assyrian is the Antichrist! Also the Assyrian is the primary leader of Turkey! Therefore the primary leader of Turkey is the Antichrist! Is this too much for you?

Today the President of Turkey is Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He hates Israel! Today the Turkish army is on the Syrian border. If President Erdogan leads Turkey into Syria and then turns south into Israel then this scenario has begun!

The Bible compares the Antichrist to the ancient Assyrian kings NOT because the Antichrist will be from Assyria!

God called the future invader of Israel the Assyrian because he will persecute Israel in much the same way as the Assyrian kings did in 734 BC and again in 701 BC. Remember that there were two separate Assyrian kings that led two separate invasions into Israel. There may very well also be two separate Turkish leaders who will lead two separate invasions into Israel in the future! The Turkish leader who leads the second invasion is the Antichrist!

What I am saying is that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is the Antichrist!

The ancient Assyrian invasions give us a clue to future events. Like I said before Ezekiel 38 predicts one future battle and Ezekiel 39 predicts another similar battle. I think that the battle described in Ezekiel 38 will be led by the primary governor of Turkey and may begin shortly. In this case Turkish President Erdogan would fulfill the role of the Assyrian. In Ezekiel 38 he is also known as Magog. The battle that is described in Ezekiel 39 will also be led by the primary governor of Turkey and is the same as the battle of Armageddon (Rev 16:12 – 21 and Rev 19:17-18). The battle of Armageddon happens at the end of the seven year Tribulation period. Turkish President Erdogan will again fulfill the role of the Assyrian during the battle of Armageddon.

In Ezekiel 38 God asks Are you the person that I have predicted would attack Israel?” So God is asking us the question.

Ezekiel 38:17 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Art thou he of whom I have spoken in old time by my servants the prophets of Israel, which prophesied in those days many years that I would bring thee against them?
In Ezekiel 39 God tells us that “Yes this is the attack that I predicted!” So God affirms that this is the battle of the end time. Remember that Ezekiel chapter 39 describes another similar but latter battle than does Ezekiel chapter 38.

Ezekiel 39:8 Behold, it is come, and it is done, saith the Lord GOD; this is the day whereof I have spoken.

Now just so that we all have a better understanding of who the Assyrian is in Bible prophecy let’s look at Isaiah chapter 10. Remember that these verses apply to an ancient Assyrian invasion into Israel as well as another still future invasion. It is important to note that these verses apply to the Assyrian invasion of 701 BC led by the Assyrian king named Sennacherib. These verses also apply to the battle of Armageddon which happens at the end of the seven year Tribulation period. Both of these battles are the second battle of their day that is led by the Assyrian.

Isaiah 10:1 Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed;2To turn aside the needy from judgment, and to take away the right from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless!

The verses above describe the Israeli leadership of the day. In the future a wicked Israeli leader will come to power. He is called “The Idol Shepherd” in Zechariah 11:16-17. I know that most people think that the Idol shepherd is the same as the Antichrist but he isn’t. The Idol shepherd will be an Israeli leader who will not take care of his people. Read my commentary titled “Woe to the Idol Shepherd” in my eBook “Israel’s Beacon of Hope”.

Isaiah 10:3 And what will ye do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation which shall come from far? to whom will ye flee for help? and where will ye leave your glory?

The wicked leadership of Israel will be overrun by the armies of its enemies. They have despised God’s authority and will have nowhere to turn during the time of their terrible distress. Just a note: there will be several secondary idol shepherds ruling in Israel during the Tribulation (Eze 34:2-8). Please read my commentary titled “Who is a Shepherd” in my eBook “Israel’s Beacon of Hope”.

Isaiah 10:4 Without me they shall bow down under the prisoners, and they shall fall under the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still. 5O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation.

Israel’s rulers will be killed in the invasion. Notice that prisoners will also be taken. Israel will hope that the invasion will fall short but the armies of Israel’s enemies will persist. God will again use the Assyrian as a tool to judge the nation of Israel.

Isaiah 10:6I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.

The hypocritical nation described in the passage above is Israel. At that time Israel will be again practicing temple sacrifice but their hearts will be far from God. Their leaders will oppress the poor.

Isaiah 10:7 Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few. 8 For he saith, Are not my princes altogether kings? 9 Is not Calno as Carchemish? is not Hamath as Arpad? is not Samaria as Damascus? 10 As my hand hath found the kingdoms of the idols, and whose graven images did excel them of Jerusalem and of Samaria; 11 Shall I not, as I have done unto Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols?

Assyrian King Sennacherib is speaking here. So is the future invader of Israel. He is recalling previous victories over Syria and northern Israel. The city of Calno is near Aleppo, Syria’s largest city. Carchemish is on the northeastern Syrian border. Hamath is between Aleppo and Damascus. Arpad is just north of Aleppo. As you know Damascus is the capital city of Syria and is located near Syria’s southern border near Israel. Samaria is in the northern half of Israel. All of these cities still exist today. All of these cities were conquered by the Assyrian King Tiglath-pileser in 734 BC. All of these cities will be conquered by the Assyrian that is still to come. So if Turkish President Erdogan leads an invasion into Syria, destroys Damascus, and then invades Israel we are half way to Armageddon. Perhaps then you can get your pastor to read this commentary!

Please notice in verse 11 that this invader has yet to conquer Jerusalem. But he is boasting that he is about to overthrow Jerusalem.

Isaiah 10:12 Wherefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord hath performed his whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks.

God will complete his judgment of Israel. God allowed Assyrian King Sennacherib to get just outside of Jerusalem but didn’t allow Sennacherib to destroy the city (Isa 37:36). In the future, the same scenario will take place. Just as it looks like all is lost for the last remaining Jews in Jerusalem Jesus Christ himself will return with great vengeance on Israel’s enemies! In the end God will punish the invader of Israel. Please read my eBook “Israel’s Beacon of Hope”.

Isaiah 10:13 For he saith, By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I am prudent: and I have removed the bounds of the people, and have robbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant man: 14 And my hand hath found as a nest the riches of the people: and as one gathereth eggs that are left, have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or peeped.

The Assyrian will say that he has conquered Israel by his own hand. God will remind him that he was successful only as an instrument in God’s hand.

Isaiah 10:15 Shall the axe boast itself against him that heweth therewith? or shall the saw magnify itself against him that shaketh it? as if the rod should shake itself against them that lift it up, or as if the staff should lift up itself, as if it were no wood.

Shall a man say that he is greater than God? God uses men to do as he wishes.

Isaiah 10:16 Therefore shall the Lord, the Lord of hosts, send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory he shall kindle a burning like the burning of a fire. 17 And the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame: and it shall burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day; 18 And shall consume the glory of his forest, and of his fruitful field, both soul and body: and they shall be as when a standardbearer fainteth. 19 And the rest of the trees of his forest shall be few, that a child may write them.

In the verses above, Jesus Christ will destroy the kingdom of the Assyrian (aka the Antichrist) at his second coming. The fire of Israel is Jesus Christ’s everlasting rule on Earth. Christ’s earthly kingdom centered in Jerusalem will consume the final gentile world empire like a fire. Earthly kingdoms will now all come under the authority of God.

Isaiah 10:20 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Israel, and such as are escaped of the house of Jacob, shall no more again stay upon him that smote them; but shall stay upon the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.

At last the Jews will be free from world oppression and persecution and will finally be faithful to their God!

Isaiah 10:21 The remnant shall return, even the remnant of Jacob, unto the mighty God. 22 For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall return: the consumption decreed shall overflow with righteousness.

The Jews will return to Israel. During the Tribulation period many Jews will take refuge in Jordan and many others will also be taken captive into different countries. After Jesus destroys the Assyrian at his coming the surviving Jews will return to Israel along with all faithful Old Testament Jews (including Isaiah) who will be resurrected from the dead at that time (Dan 12:13)! Please read “Aliyah Israel Arise Return” in my eBook “Israel’s Beacon of Hope”.

God has determined to apply a certain amount of judgment upon Israel (Dan 9:24). It will one day be completed and then replaced with righteousness and justice. God’s predetermined judgment is called the consumption here in Isaiah.

The Tribulation period is not only designated for Israel’s judgment. But there is a terrible time of God’s judgment coming upon the entire world as well!

Isa 28:22 Now therefore be ye not mockers, lest your bands be made strong: for I have heard from the Lord GOD of hosts a consumption, even determined upon the whole Earth.

Isaiah 10:23 For the Lord GOD of hosts shall make a consumption, even determined, in the midst of all the land. 24 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD of hosts, O my people that dwellest in Zion, be not afraid of the Assyrian: he shall smite thee with a rod, and shall lift up his staff against thee, after the manner of Egypt. 25 For yet a very little while, and the indignation shall cease, and mine anger in their destruction.

God will allow Israel’s time of trouble to last only for a short time.

Isaiah 10:26 And the LORD of hosts shall stir up a scourge for him according to the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb: and as his rod was upon the sea, so shall he lift it up after the manner of Egypt. 27 And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.

Just as God delivered the Jews from the Egyptians during the Exodus, God will deliver Israel from the Assyrian.

Isaiah 10:28 He is come to Aiath, he is passed to Migron; at Michmash he hath laid up his carriages: 29 They are gone over the passage: they have taken up their lodging at Geba; Ramah is afraid; Gibeah of Saul is fled. 30 Lift up thy voice, O daughter of Gallim: cause it to be heard unto Laish, O poor Anathoth. 31 Madmenah is removed; the inhabitants of Gebim gather themselves to flee.

The passage above maps out the route that the Assyrian will take on his way to attack Jerusalem. All of these towns are north of Jerusalem. The Assyrian is approaching Jerusalem from the north. He is moving closer and closer town by town. Assyrian King Sennacherib took this route on his way to destroy Jerusalem in 701 BC. In the future invasion of Israel the Antichrist may very well take this same route.

Isaiah 10:32 As yet shall he remain at Nob that day: he shall shake his hand against the mount of the daughter of Zion, the hill of Jerusalem.

Nob is north of the Mount of Olives just outside the city limits of Jerusalem. Assyrian King Sennacherib camped out there with his armies the night before he was to attack Jerusalem. Overnight, God wiped out his army while they slept (Isaiah 37:36). I suspect that a very similar scenario will occur when Jesus returns to defend Israel.

Psa 30:5 For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

Isaiah 10:33 Behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, shall lop the bough with terror: and the high ones of stature shall be hewn down, and the haughty shall be humbled. 34 And he shall cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, and Lebanon shall fall by a mighty one.

In Bible prophecy a tree with over spreading boughs is often used to describe a large kingdom or empire. Lebanon was known for its large cedar trees. So the actual country of Lebanon isn’t pictured here, but instead the final gentile world empire that will exist during the time of the Tribulation period. Jesus will return and cut down the final gentile world empire!

That is the end of Isaiah chapter 10 but please notice the first verse of Isaiah chapter 11 below.

Isaiah 11:1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

A rod is the scepter of a ruling king. Jesse was King David’s father. A branch is a descendant. So a descendant of King David will rule on Earth. Isaiah is proclaiming that after the time of Israel’s trouble Jesus Christ will come to Earth to rule forever.

So the Assyrian is the Antichrist. The ruler of Turkey will conquer Syria and then invade northern Israel just like the Assyrian of old did. Therefore an end time ruler of Turkey is the Antichrist!

The Turkish army is amassed along the Syrian border today. If Turkey attacks Syria it may then turn south to invade Israel. If these things happen then we are all half way to Armageddon.

It is High Time to Awake!

    Nahum nixes Nineveh next
    Verse by verse through Nahum

    By Craig C. White

The book of Nahum is all about the destruction of the ancient city of Nineveh. God destroyed Nineveh with a flood and also with three plundering armies. The modern day city of Mosul is built alongside of the ruins of ancient Nineveh. As a matter of fact Nineveh lays within the city limits of Mosul! The prophet Nahum said that God will judge the place where Nineveh was built. Both cities were built in the same place. By all practical standards Mosul is Nineveh. Therefore the book of Nahum describes the destruction of ancient Nineveh and it also very probably describes the present day destruction of Mosul in northern Iraq! We all know that the Al-Qaeda terrorist group called ISIS has taken control of the city of Mosul. They are killing hundreds of thousands of its residents.

When Hebrew prophets talk about the burden of a city or nation they are describing the portion of God’s judgment that it must endure. Nahum is describing Nineveh’s plight. I think he is also describing the plight of ISIS in Mosul today!

Nahum 1:1 The burden of Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.

The name Nahum means comfort. He didn’t comfort the city of Nineveh but he did comfort the nation of Israel by telling them that one of their enemies would be vanquished by God. Nahum was one of the Israeli captives that were taken away by the Assyrian Empire around 740 BC. So during the time that Nahum wrote his book he lived in Assyria or what we call northern Iraq today. Nahum lived in a town called Elkosh. Today the small town of Elkosh is known as Alqosh. Alqosh is located about twenty miles to the north of the city of Mosul. As a matter of fact it overlooks the Mosul dam. If the Mosul dam was ever to burst, Alqosh is as close as you could get to the dam without drowning. What does the name Elkosh mean? Elkosh means God the ensnarer.

To ensnare means to catch something in a trap. God set a trap for Nineveh. God ensnared the city of Nineveh by planting it by the Tigris River. In 612 BC God sent a torrential rain which overflowed the banks of the Tigris River flooding the city. The city of Mosul is sitting in an even worse trap. In 1985 construction of the Mosul dam was completed. Ever since the dam was put into service there have been concerns about its stability and safety. It seems that the ground it was built on is dissolving! The dam requires constant upkeep to prevent it from failing. The Mosul dam is located just north of the city. If the dam burst it would send a sixty foot high wave of water over the city of Mosul. So Nahum the comforter represents God the ensnarer.

I am not going to comment on every verse in Nahum. But I will say something about Nahum’s introduction. Nahum says that God will not allow wicked people to go unpunished. The ancient Ninevites were a lot like ISIS is today. They were blood thirsty murderers. God doesn’t like that. God punished Nineveh and he will likewise also punish ISIS in Mosul.

Nahum 1:3 The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.

Before he starts, Nahum gives God credit for vanquishing Israel’s enemies. Verses 3-7 describe the fierce display of Jesus Christ’s wrath as he returns to earth at his second coming. Jesus will return with tornados and rock melting fury. Nahum’s description of Christ’s return is a lot like the description that King David gave in his song of deliverance recorded in 2 Samuel 22. For a more robust description of Jesus’ return please read my commentary titled “The sign of Jesus’ coming” in my book “Israel’s Beacon of Hope”.

Here is something to take notice of. God has given the duty of Judgment to his son Jesus Christ (John 5:22). It was Jesus who flooded Nineveh. It will be Jesus again who will also flood Mosul.

Here it is. Nahum comes right out and tells us that God will destroy the place where Nineveh sits with a flood. Remember that Mosul sits in the same place! Nineveh was flattened. Mosul will also be flattened. ISIS in Mosul will be overflowed by a flood of water. Their bodies will be dragged down to the darkness of the deep water and their souls will be dragged down to the even darker depths of the earth.

Nahum 1:8 But with an overrunning flood he will make an utter end of the place thereof, and darkness shall pursue his enemies.

In verse 9 below Nahum declares that God’s judgment will be final. In other words, we won’t have any more trouble from ISIS.

Nahum 1:9 What do ye imagine against the LORD? he will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time.

In verse 10 below Nahum describes the members of ISIS gathered together in a thick crowd. They are drunk celebrating their immoral rapes and murders. God will gather ISIS together in Mosul like one would gather brush to burn. ISIS will be quickly and completely destroyed.

Nahum 1:10 For while they be folden together as thorns, and while they are drunken as drunkards, they shall be devoured as stubble fully dry.

Next Nahum identifies one particular person among the terrorist group ISIS. He may be speaking about the ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. Al-Baghdadi has declared himself as the ruler of a new Islamic Empire. Of course the goal of Islam is the annihilation of Israel.

Nahum 1:11 There is one come out of thee, that imagineth evil against the LORD, a wicked counsellor.

The next three verses are interesting. We know that many nations will come against Israel during the Great Tribulation. Jesus will personally wipe them out at his second coming. It seems that ISIS will be dealt with beforehand. Assyria or northern Iraq is not listed in the Gog and Magog wars of Ezekiel 38 and 39 or in the battle of Armageddon (same as Ezekiel 39). Northern Iraq will assist Jordan during the Psalm 83 war but they will not enter into the land of Israel. The Psalm 83 war in Jordan happens just a day or so before the battle of Armageddon. For more about Ezekiel 38 and 39, and Psalm 83 please read my books “Halfway to Armageddon” and also “Israel’s Beacon of Hope”.

Nahum 1:12 Thus saith the LORD; Though they be quiet, and likewise many, yet thus shall they be cut down, when he shall pass through. Though I have afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more.

In verse 13 below Nahum is comforting Israel. Back in 612 BC the Assyrians in Nineveh enslaved the Israelites. God destroyed Nineveh with a flood. God will also destroy Mosul with a flood. God will not allow ISIS in Mosul to bother Israel anymore.

Nahum 1:13 For now will I break his yoke from off thee, and will burst thy bonds in sunder.

All you hear about today is ISIS. After God gets through with them nobody will be talking about them.

Nahum 1:14 And the LORD hath given a commandment concerning thee, that no more of thy name be sown: out of the house of thy gods will I cut off the graven image and the molten image: I will make thy grave; for thou art vile.

Jesus Christ is the person and authority behind the flooding of Mosul. God will destroy ISIS as they are gathered together in Mosul. The same city that was their home will become their grave. God will catch Mosul in its own trap.

Nineveh was flooded long ago. Mosul will fall in like fashion. The city of Mosul has a population of 1.5 million. I heard one report lately that about 500,000 people are in immediate danger if the Mosul dam breaks.

In the verse below the palace refers to a building large enough to accommodate a gathering of many people. I think that Nahum is being very accurate here. ISIS in Mosul will be gathered together in a large auditorium when the flood hits! Perhaps they will be gathered in the Nineveh International Hotel that sits right on the Tigris River overlooking the ruins of ancient Nineveh. The hotel is reserved for ISIS leaders and visiting dignitaries. By the way, the gates of the Mosul dam have already come off of their hinges.

Nahum 2:6 The gates of the rivers shall be opened, and the palace shall be dissolved.

The verse below literally says that Nineveh will be like a water reservoir for many days. ISIS leaders will command the people to stand and fight but nobody will listen. Anybody left alive will flee.

Nahum 2:8 But Nineveh is of old like a pool of water: yet they shall flee away. Stand, stand, shall they cry; but none shall look back.

I haven’t mentioned this yet but God first destroyed Nineveh with a flood and then three armies ransacked the city for two months! In 612 BC the Babylonians, Persians, and Medes attacked Nineveh when they saw it was in peril. Today those same three nations are fighting against ISIS in Mosul. They are the Iraqis, Iranians, and Kurds.

The Iraqi army along with the Iranian Guard and the Peshmerga Kurds will rifle through the city stealing everything of value. Just a note: the Bible often refers to soldiers as lions. The ISIS soldiers will be wiped out.

Nahum 2:9-13 Take ye the spoil of silver, take the spoil of gold: for there is none end of the store and glory out of all the pleasant furniture. 10 She is empty, and void, and waste: and the heart melteth, and the knees smite together, and much pain is in all loins, and the faces of them all gather blackness. 11 Where is the dwelling of the lions, and the feedingplace of the young lions, where the lion, even the old lion, walked, and the lion’s whelp, and none made them afraid? 12 The lion did tear in pieces enough for his whelps, and strangled for his lionesses, and filled his holes with prey, and his dens with ravin. 13 Behold, I am against thee, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will burn her chariots in the smoke, and the sword shall devour thy young lions: and I will cut off thy prey from the earth, and the voice of thy messengers shall no more be heard.

ISIS has lusted after blood. They have filled Mosul with the blood of their fellow countrymen. God will not endure their evil deeds for long.

    Nahum 3:1 Woe to the bloody city! it is all full of lies and robbery; the prey departeth not;

The next few verses may not reflect upon the present day destruction of Mosul. I wanted to cast a little light on them because they sound strange the first time you read them. The Assyrian King named Assur-banipal had conquered the city of No-Amon (or Thebes) in Upper Egypt in 663 B.C. God is telling the ancient Assyrians that even though Thebes was a great city it fell. God was just as able to destroy Nineveh.

Like Nineveh, Mosul will be under siege after the flood. Its defenses will crumble. The three invading armies will pour into the city.

Nahum 3:11-13 Thou also shalt be drunken: thou shalt be hid, thou also shalt seek strength because of the enemy. 12 All thy strong holds shall be like fig trees with the firstripe figs: if they be shaken, they shall even fall into the mouth of the eater. 13 Behold, thy people in the midst of thee are women: the gates of thy land shall be set wide open unto thine enemies: the fire shall devour thy bars.

In verse 18 below, a shepherd is a ruler. The rulers of Nineveh are dead. The people of the city have taken refuge in the mountains. Nobody helps them. In verse 19 the word bruit simply means report. Everybody who hears the report about the destruction of ISIS in Mosul will clap their hands with approval.

Nahum 3:18-19 Thy shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria: thy nobles shall dwell in the dust: thy people is scattered upon the mountains, and no man gathereth them. 19 There is no healing of thy bruise; thy wound is grievous: all that hear the bruit of thee shall clap the hands over thee: for upon whom hath not thy wickedness passed continually?

Remember that the prophecies of Nahum are primarily about the ancient city of Nineveh. Everything written about its destruction has already happened. But in end time Bible prophecy history often repeats itself. The modern day city of Mosul is built surrounding the place where Nineveh once was. ISIS in Mosul is acting a lot like the ancient Assyrians of Nineveh. The Mosul dam is feeble. Mosul has set a trap for itself. God has ensnared them.

    Hanukkah 2024: Dec 25, 2024 – Thu, Jan 2, 2025

    By Craig C. White

The Hebrew word Hanukkah means “dedication”. Hanukkah is the Jewish celebration of the re-dedication of the temple in Jerusalem in 165 B.C. Hanukkah is celebrated for eight days beginning on the 25th day of the Hebrew month Kislev. While Hanukkah is not one of the appointed Jewish holy days (Leviticus 23, Numbers 29); it is mentioned in the Bible. It was prophesied in Daniel 8:14, also Jesus attended a Hanukkah celebration in John 10: 22-23.

In 175 B.C. Israel was under the rule of a wicked Grecian king named Antiochus Epiphanes. He was king over one quarter of the Grecian empire known as the Seleucid dynasty, headquartered in Syria. Antiochus Epiphanes robbed the temple in Jerusalem of its gold and holy vessels. He ended the daily sacrifice, and sacrificed pigs on the Jewish alter. Then he declared that he should be worshiped as God instead of the God of Israel. In 171 B.C. the high priest of Israel (Onias III) was murdered and false Priests were installed in temple worship.

In 167 B.C. a group of Hebrew rebels from Judea (which is the region around Jerusalem), known as the Maccabees began to fight the Syrian authorities in Jerusalem. The Maccabees regained control of the temple, and in 165 B.C. on the 25th day of the Hebrew month of Kislev the Jewish people resumed the daily sacrifice (1 Maccabees 4:52). This is the day that Israel celebrates Hanukkah (the dedication of the temple).

Hanukkah, or the day that the temple sacrifice would continue was prophesied in Daniel 8:14. God told Daniel about Hanukkah in 551 B.C. (Daniel 8: 1).

Daniel 8:14  And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.

Daniel 8:14 says that the temple will be defiled for 2300 days; or that sacrifices will be interrupted for 2300 days. If you count 2300 days from the day that the high priest Onias III was murdered in 171 B.C. you come to Kislev 25, 165 B.C.  That is the day of Hanukkah!

Jesus celebrated Hanukkah! In verse 22 below, the “feast of the dedication” is the same as Hanukkah.

John 10:22-30  And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter.  23  And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon’s porch.  24  Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.  25  Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, they bear witness of me.  26  But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.  27  My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:  28  And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.  29  My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.  30  I and my Father are one.

  • The Holy Spirit in us is our assurance of salvation

The Holy Spirit in us is our assurance of salvation

and also of resurrection and new life!

    By Craig C. White

When we believe and submit ourselves to God then he gives each heart the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit in us is our promise (engagement ring) that we will be raised to everlasting life. The Holy Spirit in us is our assurance that we are saved. The Holy Spirit does a few things while it is in our hearts. It convicts us of sin. The Holy Spirit helps us to understand the Bible when we read it or hear it. The Holy Spirit also communicates God’s prayers to us so that we can pray in agreement. I have the Holy Spirit in my heart so I am certain that I am saved!

Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

The Bible says that when we are saved God places his seal on us in order to identify us as belonging to him, and also to preserve us so that we are guaranteed to receive future promises.

Here is the definition of the word “sealed” in Ephesians 1:13.

    sfrag-id’-zo
From G4973; to stamp (with a signet or private mark) for security or preservation (literally or figuratively); by implication to keep secret, to attest: – (set a, set to) seal up, stop.

God’s promise is a pledge to give life more abundantly. When we receive God’s Holy Spirit we do also receive part of God’s gift. But a promise is a promise because God will completely fulfill his promise in the future.

Here is the definition of the word “promise” in Ephesians 1:13.

    ep-ang-el-ee’-ah
From G1861; an announcement (for information, assent or pledge; especially a divine assurance of good): – message, promise.

Ephesians 1:14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

Here is the definition of the word “earnest” in Ephesians 1:14.

    ar-hrab-ohn’
Of Hebrew origin [H6162]; a pledge, that is, part of the purchase money or property given in advance as security for the rest: – earnest.

The word that is translated as “earnest” means down payment or security deposit. So the Holy Spirit inside of our hearts is our individual assurance that God will keep his promise to us. In modern Greek the word arrabona means an engagement ring. Remember that each believer receives an engagement ring when they receive the Holy Spirit. If the marriage is called off then you still get to keep the ring! But don’t worry; this engagement ring was purchased at great cost. God has assured us that the Holy Spirit will not be given in vain. The wedding will take place as planned.

God calls you and I “the purchased possession”. Here is the definition of the term “purchased possession” in Ephesians 1:14.

    per-ee-poy’-ay-sis
From G4046; acquisition (the act or the thing); by extension preservation: – obtain (-ing), peculiar, purchased, possession, saving.

We are purchased possessions because we have been bought with a price (1Corinthians 6:20). Jesus payed the penalty of sin which is death for us by his own death on the cross.

I am certain that I will live forever with Jesus because I have the Holy Spirit in my heart. I know that the Holy Spirit is there because I am ashamed when I sin. I also know that that the Holy Spirit is in my heart because I can understand the Bible when I read it. Believe it or not, sometimes I can even sense what the Holy Spirit is communicating with my spirit. Believe that Jesus Christ died to pay the penalty for your sins and be saved. Open your heart to God’s Holy Spirit and receive assurance of everlasting life.

Holy Spirit in us is our assurance of salvation

    Second Coming Wrath Path

Out of Egypt have I called my son.

    Matthew 2:15

    By Craig C. White

While dispensing God’s wrath at the second coming, Jesus will take a prescribed route. Many bible students think that Jesus will descend out of heaven and touch down on the Mount of Olives.

Zec 14:4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

At the second coming Jesus will in fact stand on the Mount of Olives but not at first. I think Jesus will take a more circuitous route during his Revelation. His route will be one that we have seen before. The route of Jesus Christ’s Second coming will be very similar to the route that Israel followed out of Egypt as God led them. Come with me as I follow the Revelation Wrath Path.

This commentary chronicles Jesus’ path of Revelation and vengeance during his second coming at the end of the tribulation. Surprisingly this journey does not begin in Jerusalem. As a matter of fact it doesn’t end in Jerusalem either. Instead God begins the Revelation of Jesus out of Egypt!

Num 24:8-9 God brought him forth out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break their bones, and pierce them through with his arrows. 9 He couched, he lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who shall stir him up? Blessed is he that blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth thee.

Hos 11:1 When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.

When Jesus was a boy God called him out of Egypt. Like many prophecies this one has two distinct applications separated by time. At Jesus’ second coming God will again call his son out of Egypt! That will be a day of wrath and revelation of righteous judgment.

Mat 2:15 And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.

Jesus will ride out of heaven into Egypt on a cloud. Trust me this is a scary cloud. The following verse was written long after God delivered the nation of Israel from Egypt; so it cannot pertain to Israel’s exodus out of Egypt. It is about Jesus’ second coming!

Isa 19:1-2 The burden of Egypt. Behold, the LORD rideth upon a swift cloud, and shall come into Egypt: and the idols of Egypt shall be moved at his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall melt in the midst of it. 2 And I will set the Egyptians against the Egyptians: and they shall fight every one against his brother, and every one against his neighbour; city against city, and kingdom against kingdom.

Verse 2 (above) sounds like what is happening in Egypt today, however when Jesus passes through Egypt; the people will be completely confounded. The Revelation of Jesus Christ will be terrifying.

Jer 4:13 Behold, he shall come up as clouds, and his chariots shall be as a whirlwind: his horses are swifter than eagles. Woe unto us! for we are spoiled.

Christ’s second coming is a whirlwind tour! Habakkuk prophesies about Jesus next location. Check out the Revelation Wrath Path map bellow for these bible locations. Remember that the route of the Revelation of Jesus is very similar to the route that Israel took out of Egypt.

    Revelation Wrath Path

Revelation Wrath Path: Map of Jesus Christ’s return trip at the end of the 7 year tribulation period. Called “the day of the LORD”, or “the day of the LORD’S wrath”. Jesus will destroy all the armies that have come against Israel! It is a day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God (Rom 2:5).
