  • Many believers were resurrected when Jesus died

Many believers were resurrected when Jesus died

but their bodies were not transformed or taken up into heaven.

    By Craig C. White

Matthew 27:50-54 says that many believers rose from the dead at Jesus’ death. However I don’t think that these people represent Old Testament believers. I think that the believers who were raised from the dead were people who had recently died. They were witnesses to the Jews of the deity of Jesus Christ and his power over death. They were raised like Lazarus. Their bodies were not transformed into everlasting bodies. Even though they were raised from the dead; like Lazarus they eventually died.

Matthew 27:50-54 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. 51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; 52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, 53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many. 54 Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.

There is no mention in Matthew chapter 27 about these people being bodily transformed or physically taken. They are not Old Testament believers but they are Jews who were alive to hear Jesus’ message and believe. So what about the Old Testament believers? I think that Jesus took the souls of the Old Testament believers with him at his ascension but their bodies are still in the ground.

Ephesians 4:8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

Here is the verse that most leads me to believe that the resurrection of Old Testament believers will happen in the future. It is the last verse in the book of Daniel. Daniel will rest until he stands in his God given portion of land in Israel at the time of the end.

Daniel 12:13 But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days.

Also Hosea seems to say that when Jesus comes at his second coming he will restore peace and security to Israel in two days and then resurrect the Old Testament believers on the third day.

Hosea 6:2 After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.

The Prophet Daniel talks about events that will happen at the time of the Tribulation and Jesus Christ’s second coming. I think that the Old Testament believers will be raised from the dead and physically transformed shortly after Jesus returns to vanquish Israel’s enemies. At that time there will be no need of a Rapture because Jesus will be present on the earth. The Old Testament Jewish believers will live with Jesus Christ on earth.

The Bible also tells us that God will turn the rivers into roadways in order to provide a pathway for the Jews who have been dispersed throughout the Middle East to return to Israel. So obviously the Old Testament Jewish believers have not and will not be taken up into heaven bodily.

Isa 11:11-12 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. 12 And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.

Note: In Isaiah 11:11-12 above, these are nations that took Israelis captive, Assyria is northern Iraq, Egypt is the Sinai peninsula, Pathros is upper Egypt, Cush is Sudan, Elam is Iran (Remember some Jews remained under captivity after Babylon was conquered by the Medes and Persians; including Daniel the prophet.), Shinar is southern Iraq (Babylon), and Hamath is a major city in Syria.

Isa 11:15-16 And the LORD shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty wind shall he shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over dryshod. 16 And there shall be an highway for the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.

The Old Testament Jewish believers will be raised after Jesus returns to stay. God bless you as you celebrate resurrection day!

  • God has determined to pour out his wrath on the desolator

God has determined to pour out his wrath on the desolator

    Erdoğan is the desolator.

    By Craig C. White

You are probably familiar with the following verse. Daniel says that the Antichrist will make a treaty with Israel for seven years. In the middle of the seven years he will break the treaty by stopping the temple sacrifices and will terribly oppress Jerusalem.

Daniel 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Have you ever wondered what was “determined” to be poured out? I will answer that question now. God has determined to pour out his wrath on every nation that will fight against Israel. The following verse was written to the Jews that are going through the Tribulation period.

Zephaniah 3:8 Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the LORD, until the day that I rise up to the prey: for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation, even all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy.

At the end of Daniel 9:27 the “desolate” actually means the “desolator” (or the person who makes desolate). The Antichrist will make Jerusalem desolate. God will then pour out his wrath on the Antichrist.

By the way Turkish President Erdoğan is the Antichrist. He will make a seven year term peace treaty with Israel and then attack Jerusalem. After Israel has suffered for three and one half years then God will destroy Erdoğan along with every invading army that has gathered against Israel.

  • Is the flooding of Mosul associated with the Rapture?

Is the flooding of Mosul associated with the Rapture?

    By Craig C. White

OK peeps consider this. The theme of the book of Jonah is the salvation of the gentiles. Jonah spent three days inside of the big fish just like Jesus spent three days inside of the grave. This signifies the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. Jonah was sent to the Assyrians in Nineveh. The people of Nineveh repented and were saved. Nineveh was finally destroyed by a flood in 612 BC. This was predicted by the Prophet Nahum. Today Mosul in northern Iraq is Nineveh. The Mosul dam is in danger of bursting. God may once again destroy Nineveh with a flood.

Jesus said that he would give Israel one sign that he was truly their Messiah. He would give them the sign of Jonah. Jonah was sent to the gentiles in Nineveh. The flooding of ISIS in Mosul would remind Israel of the Prophet Jonah. It would also remind them of Jesus’ promise to give them the sign of Jonah.

Maybe the flooding of ISIS in Mosul will happen at the same time as the Rapture of Church age GENTILE believers! The resurrection of gentiles would be the greatest sign possible to Israel that Jesus Christ has the power to raise the dead to eternal life. The Rapture would prove to Israel that Jesus truly is their Messiah! The resurrection of gentiles in conjunction with the flooding of Mosul would remind Israel about Jesus’ promise to give them the sign of Jonah and also demonstrate Jesus’ authority over sin and death.

Curiously Jesus is described coming in the air in fiery fury in the book of Nahum.

Nahum 1:3 The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.

Nahum also says that as he comes in his anger that he knows who belongs to him (Nahum 1:7). Could this be describing the Rapture?

Nahum 1:4 He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, and drieth up all the rivers: Bashan languisheth, and Carmel, and the flower of Lebanon languisheth. 5 The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, and the earth is burned at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell therein. 6 Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him. 7 The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.

Curiously Jesus is described as coming in a fiery whirlwind to the Golan Heights of northern Israel. Ezekiel chapter 38 describes a Turkish led invasion into Israel. I suspect that Turkey will destroy Damascus and then will lead the forces that are now fighting in Syria into the Golan Heights. Nahum goes on to describe the flooding and destruction of Mosul. Think about it folks, this is the same path that Jonah followed as he traveled from northern Israel to Nineveh! Sounds to me like the sign of Jonah has end time application.

Will Jesus Christ be angry as he collects his Church? Jesus may be angry with Israel’s enemies who will gather on the Golan Heights and also on ISIS in Mosul. The Rapture is designed to save believers from a seven year period of God’s wrath on earth. Will the Rapture of Christians happen in conjunction with the flooding of ISIS in Mosul? The resurrection of Christians would prove Jesus Christ’s divine authority. The book of Jonah is all about death, resurrection, and then the preaching to the gentiles that results in repentance unto salvation. Just like Jesus Christ was resurrected from the dead on the third day, the resurrection of gentiles would fulfill the sign of Jonah. Witnessing the resurrection of gentiles would be the ultimate sign to Israel that Jesus is truly their Messiah.

  • Turkey will soon be in position to attack Hamah

Turkey will soon be in position to attack Hamah

Russia and Iran give Turkey “safe zone” in Idlib

    By Craig C. White

IDLIB, Syria – September 20, 2017 – While many Christians have been looking up their Astrological charts; some real end time events have been happening on the ground.

Turkish President Erdogan has vowed to remove Syrian President Assad from power in Damascus, Syria. Iran and Russia are allied with the Syrian government. This week Iran and Russia made it a lot easier for Turkish forces to reach Damascus. Turkey has now finalized a deal with Iran and Russia to create a “safe zone” around the city of Idlib in northwestern Syria. Idlib has long been a stronghold of the Turkish supported Syrian Al-Qaeda affiliate “Ahrar al-Sham” as well as the Al-Qaeda rebel group “Hayat Tahrir al-Sham”. These Al-Qaeda groups have been fighting against the Syrian Army near Hamah. Lately the Syrian Army has been winning. The “safe zone” plan will flood Idlib with an additional 25,000 Turkish troops along with Turkish supported Al-Qaeda “Free Syrian Army” rebels. What could go wrong?

The Prophet Jeremiah says that the northwestern cities of Hamah and Arpad (or modern day Tell Rifaat) will hear evil reports about a coming invasion and will be terrified. For the past few months the Turkish Army has been gathering heavy weapons and troops at Azaz, Syria in order to attack the nearby Kurdish held town of Tell Rifaat. Turkish President Erdogan said that the Turkish Army could attack Tell Rifaat at any moment. So one of the cities that Jeremiah identifies is about to be attacked by Turkish troops.

Jeremiah 49:23 Concerning Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad: for they have heard evil tidings: they are fainthearted; there is sorrow on the sea; it cannot be quiet.

With the finalized “safe zone” plan, Turkey will soon be in position to attack Hamah; the other city on Jeremiahs list. Soon Turkey will send 25,000 more Turkish and Free Syrian Army troops to Idlib located only a few miles from Hamah.

According to Jeremiah 49:23-27, after Hamah and Tell Rifaat hear evil reports of a coming invasion then the residents of Damascus will flee and Damascus will be destroyed.

Jesus said this to the religious leaders of his day.

Matthew 16:3b O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?

Christians should not be looking to the stars for a sign. Instead they should understand the events of the day. Turkey will soon be in position to attack Hamah and Tell Rifaat. This signals the soon destruction of Damascus. These are the signs of the times. It is High Time to Awake.

  • Egypt shall not escape

    Egypt shall not escape

The Antichrist will invade Egypt then Israel.

    Daniel 11:40-45

    By Craig C. White

There is a movement in Northern Africa and the Middle East to bring the region under an Islamist umbrella. Egypt has loosed the bands of the Muslim Brotherhood for now, but ultimately Egypt will not escape. During the first half of the seven year Tribulation period Turkey will conquer Egypt!

Antiochus Epiphanies was the king over one quarter of the Grecian Empire headquartered in Syria. Antiochus Epiphanies is a forerunner and type of the Antichrist. The Antichrist will do many of the same things that Antiochus Epiphanies did.

Ezekiel 39:1 identifies the primary governor (or chief prince) of Turkey as the future invader of Israel. Ezekiel chapter 39 describes the battle of Armageddon led by the Antichrist. So a Turkish ruler will be the Antichrist. The battle of Armageddon happens at the end of the seven year Tribulation period.

Daniel chapter 11 describes the invasion into Egypt and then into Israel that happened in 167 BC led by Antiochus Epiphanies. I think that Daniel chapter 11 also predicts a future invasion into Egypt and then into Israel led by the Antichrist. This isn’t the battle of Armageddon. Instead it is the attack that begins the Great Tribulation (Mat 24:21). This invasion into Egypt and then Israel happens in the middle of the seven year Tribulation period. In Daniel 11 below, the king of the south is Egypt. The king of the north is Turkey in this future invasion into Egypt and then into Israel!

Dan 11:40 And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over. 41 He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.

So Turkey will invade Egypt and even come into Israel (the glorious land). It sounds like Turkey will conquer all of Northern Africa and the Middle East except for Jordan. Edom, Moab, and Ammon all represent today’s Jordan.

Dan 11:42 He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape. 43 But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps.

The Antichrist (Turkish Prime Minister) will loot Egypt of its treasures. Turkey will be joined in its conquests by Libya and Sudan.

Dan 11:44 But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many.

Remember that this account refers to two separate invasions of Egypt and then Israel. In 167 BC Antiochus Epiphanies heard news of a Jewish effort to take control of the temple in Jerusalem. He then invaded Israel to stop it. Turkey will invade Egypt in the future led by the Antichrist. He will probably also hear news from Jerusalem concerning the newly built temple.

Here is a historical account of Antiochus Epiphanies’ attack on Israel in 167 BC. The Turkish Antichrist will attack Israel in much the same way.

2 Maccabees 5:11–14 When these happenings were reported to the king, he thought that Judea was in revolt. Raging like a wild animal, he set out from Egypt and took Jerusalem by storm. He ordered his soldiers to cut down without mercy those whom they met and to slay those who took refuge in their houses. There was a massacre of young and old, a killing of women and children, a slaughter of virgins and infants. In the space of three days, eighty thousand were lost, forty thousand meeting a violent death, and the same number being sold into slavery.

Dan 11:45 And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.

The seas described in this verse are typically thought to be the Mediterranean Sea and the Dead Sea. Jerusalem is between the two seas. The glorious holy mountain is Mt. Zion in Jerusalem. In 167 BC Antiochus Epiphanies took-over the temple in Jerusalem and declared that he should be worshiped as god. In the future the Antichrist will take-over the temple in Jerusalem and declare that he should be worshiped there. This verse reflects the desecration of the temple spoken of in Dan 12:11 and referenced in Mat 24:15-16. When the Jews around Jerusalem see the Antichrist claiming to be god in the temple at Jerusalem then they are instructed to flee to the hills of Jordan!

In the middle of the Tribulation the Antichrist will attack Israel. This begins Jerusalem’s Great Tribulation (Mat 24:21)! Just before his armies invade Israel they will invade Egypt and carry away their treasures. So when Israel sees Turkey invade Egypt they will have an advanced warning that they will be attacked next!

Today Egypt has seemingly avoided a Muslim Brotherhood takeover but in the end the entire Middle East and northern Africa will be under the control of the Antichrist. Lately Turkish President Erdogan has expressed Turkey’s willingness to fight in northern Africa.

PS: Daniel chapter 11 doesn’t describe the other Turkish led invasion into Israel that is described in Ezekiel chapter 38. Turkey will first invade Syria and destroy Damascus. Then Turkey will lead Iran, Sudan, and Libya into Israel. All of these forces are fighting in Syria today! I think that this invasion will begin soon!

  • Solar and lunar eclipses fall on Jewish holy days

Blood Moon smallPhoto credit: Blood Moon by Guian Bolisay

Solar and lunar eclipses fall on Jewish holy days

“Blood moons” have marked significant events in Israel’s history.

    By Craig C. White

In Joel 2:31 we are told that there will be signs in the sun and the moon before Jesus Christ’s second coming.

Joe 2:30-32 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. 31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come. 32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.

Notice that these verses directly relate to the nation of Israel. The sun will be darkened and the moon will become blood red. These signs will indicate the approaching judgment of God on Israel’s enemies. These signs will likely be most visible in Jerusalem. Verse 32 above indicates that Jews will be rescued on Mt. Zion. Mt. Zion is the hill just south of the temple mount in Jerusalem. There will be a small group of Jews on Mount Zion who will survive the Tribulation (please read my commentary titled “The Last Jews in Jerusalem”). Below, Revelation 6:12 is quoting Joel 2:31.

    Rev 6:12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;

It is important to note that according to these verses these signs do not foretell the approach of the Tribulation period. Instead these verses most certainly pertain to the end of the seven year Tribulation period. They foretell the day of Jesus Christ’s vengeance and wrath on Israel’s enemies. Before Jesus returns in power and vengeance against Israel’s enemies the sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood. These signs will be visible to the Jews bunkered on Mount Zion. Before Jesus returns to vanquish Israel’s enemies and to save the surviving Jews in Jerusalem there will be signs in the heavens and in the earth.

Below, Jesus confirms that these signs occur near the end of the Tribulation period.

Mat 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

There will also be signs in the heavens in Jerusalem beginning on Passover in April 2014. For the following two years solar and lunar eclipses will occur on several Jewish holy days. These eclipses may have some significance since so many fall on Jewish holy days but some of these eclipses will only be partially visible from Jerusalem. These events are rare and certainly notable but they should not be equated with the events described in Joel. They do not mark the eminent second coming of Jesus Christ in fury to rescue Israel and rule on earth forever, but they could mark some other profound event like the dividing of Israel to form a Palestinian state or the loss of east Jerusalem. Perhaps these signs could prophesy the rebuilding of a temple in Jerusalem and the renewal of temple sacrifice. They may also predict the near coming of Jesus Christ for his Church, as well as forecast the terrible time of God’s judgment for Israel and also for all of the earth known as the Tribulation period.

The cycle of the moon marks the Hebrew calendar as well as marks God’s holy days of meeting with Israel (Leviticus 23). There is a Hebrew theory that says that signs in the moon pertain to the nation of Israel, and that signs in the sun are almost certainly warnings against the gentile nations. Solar and Lunar eclipses fall on several Jewish holy days in 2014-2015. These events occur spanning two years on the Hebrew calendar; the years 5774 and 5775. The year 5775 is also a Sabbatical year (Leviticus 25) on the Hebrew calendar which ends a seven year cycle.

The next seven year cycle will begin at sunset on Rosh Hashanah September 13, 2015 with a partial solar eclipse. God promised Israel that they would suffer seven years of tribulation before the Messiah returns to set his kingdom in Jerusalem. Perhaps Rosh Hashanah 2015 will mark the beginning of the next seven years of Israel’s trouble and also God’s wrath on earth.

Here are the dates of the upcoming solar and lunar eclipses.

April 15, 2014 – Passover – Total lunar eclipse (blood moon): What happened on this day? God rescued Israel from slavery in Egypt (Exodus 12). Passover lasts seven or eight days. Passover is the first of God’s appointed holy days of the year.

October 8, 2014 – Feast of Tabernacles (also called Sukkot) – Total lunar eclipse (blood moon): What happened on this day? Sukkot commemorates Israel’s 40 years long pilgrimage from Egypt to Israel (Lev 23:34). Sukkot lasts seven or eight days.

March 20, 2015 – First day of the Hebrew calendar year (Exo.12:1-2) – Total solar eclipse: What happened on this day? One year after God appointed this day as the first of the year Moses set up the tabernacle. The Shekinah glory of God fell upon the tabernacle on this day (Exodus 40:2, 17, 34).

April 4, 2015 – Passover – Total lunar eclipse (blood moon): God rescued Israel from slavery in Egypt (Exodus 12). Passover lasts seven or eight days. Passover is the first of God’s appointed holy days of the year.

September 13, 2015 – Rosh Hashanah, Feast of Trumpets – Partial solar eclipse: What happened on this day? Rosh Hashanah is a solemn day that marks the beginning of Israel’s high holy days (Leviticus 23:23-25). The high holy days encompass a ten day period of repentance which concludes with Yom Kippur (also called the Day of Atonement). Rosh Hashanah is celebrated by the blowing of the ram’s horn. In Hebrew this horn is called the shofar. Rosh Hashanah is the start of the Hebrew civil year.

September 28, 2015 – Feast of Tabernacles (also called Sukkot) – Total lunar eclipse (blood moon): What happened on this day? Sukkot commemorates Israel’s 40 years long pilgrimage from Egypt to Israel (Lev 23:34). Sukkot lasts seven or eight days.

What do these signs mean? Are they significant? I think so. This many eclipses falling on Israel’s God appointed holy days is very rare. In the past they have marked incredibly significant events in Israel’s history. Namely Israel’s rebirth as a nation in 1948, and the recapture of east Jerusalem and the temple mound in the six day war of 1967. Do the eclipses of 2014-2015 mark Christ’s second coming to rescue Israel? No. Could they mark other prophetic events regarding Israel and the gentile nations? Yes. Here are just a few that come to mind.

    1. Peace agreement or “Two state solution” imposed on Israel (1Thess 5:3).
    2. Plan to rebuild Temple in Jerusalem (Rev 11:1).
    3. Israel receives her “idol shepherd” (Zechariah 11:16-17).
    4. The destruction of Damascus (Isaiah 17, Jeremiah 49).
    5. Turkish led invasion into Israel described in Ezekiel 38.
    6. The revealing of the Antichrist on earth (2Thessalonians 1-3).
    7. Christ’s return in the air for the rapture of the Church (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).
    8. The beginning of seven years of God’s judgment on all the earth (Isaiah 28:22).

God ordained Israel’s holy days to commemorate Israel’s history and relationship with God. God also ordained Israel’s holy days to foretell things that will come to pass in the future. The verses below were written to Jewish and gentile Christians in the early Church.

Colossians 2:16-17 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: 17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

God’s appointed holy days foretell the major events of the future. The major events of the future have eternal weight. These major events are; God’s rebuke of Israel (Dan.12:10), Jesus Christ’s judgment of the unbelieving world, Jesus Christ’s rescue and restoration of the nation of Israel, and Jesus Christ’s everlasting kingdom on earth.

The Church is suffering at the hands of the world today but it will escape God’s judgment on earth and enjoy Christ forever. The following verses were also written to the Church. Please notice that the day of the Lord comes upon the world unexpectedly. I think that the entire seven year Tribulation period can be characterized as the day of the Lord or as the day of the Lord’s wrath on earth. It comes unexpectedly upon those who are in the dark, but those who are awake and are in the daylight can see it coming! If you are walking in the daylight of belief in Jesus Christ and in the understanding of his word, then you will see the time of God’s wrath on earth coming; and you will also be rescued from it!

1 Thessalonians 5:1-11 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. 2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. 4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. 5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. 7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. 8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. 9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. 11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

Don’t be in the dark. Consider the many end time events that are unfolding right now; namely the nearing of the destruction of Damascus, and the conflict amongst Egyptians. Notice that the heathen are raging in the Middle East and Africa and Asia. Also recognize the armies of Ezekiel 38:5 gathered in Syria. Hear the cry of “peace peace” in Israel, and more. These rare celestial events in Jerusalem are bound to be signs that usher in a new era for Israel and for the entire world.

God told us these things in advance so that we would believe in him and in his son that he sent to us. Will you be saved from the coming day of the Lord? Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house (Act 16:31).

I enjoyed this book immensely. – Dawn M. Lundgren

    Bible verses about Eagles Wings

    Wait, don’t forget your wings!

    Isaiah 40:31

    By Craig C. White

Eagle’s wings do not always represent the United States in the Bible! Here are some familiar Bible verses that are typically not fully understood.

Isa 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

This Bible verse contains two statements that are seldom taught. First, what does “waiting” on the Lord mean? Well it may mean something to you personally, but it has a very powerful and specific application in scripture.

During the Great Tribulation Jerusalem will be overrun by its enemies. The residents of Judea are instructed to flee to the wilderness but the only way for the residents of Jerusalem to survive is not to run away but to “wait” in Mount Zion in Jerusalem. They are “waiting” for the Messiah to save them from their enemies.

Isa 25:9 And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

    Also see Isa 30:18.

The second statement in Isaiah 40:31 is they shall mount up with wings as eagles”. Again, this verse may hold some personal meaning, but the term “eagles wings” is used in scripture to indicate God’s supernatural help given to the Israelites in time of flight. It was applied to Israel’s exodus out of Egypt.

Exodus 19:4 Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles’ wings, and brought you unto myself.

God carried the Jewish people out of Egypt like an Eagle carries her young. In the next Bible verse Moses explains how an eagle caries her young.

Deu 32:11 As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings:

In the future God will bear the Israelis on “eagle’s wings” two more times. First, the inhabitants of Judea will flee to the mountains when they see the Antichrist sitting in the holy place (2Th 2:4). God will help the Jews to flee to Jordan. For more Bible verses about Judea’s flight also see Mark 13:14

Rev 12:14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

Finally God will give “eagles wings” to the residue of the inhabitants of Jerusalem who didn’t run but instead “waited” in Mount Zion at Christ’s return at the end of the “Great Tribulation” (Isa 40:31, Zec 14:3-5).

Isa 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

  • It’s High Time to gain a mature understanding of Matthew chapter 24

It’s High Time to gain a mature understanding of Matthew chapter 24

Trust me it’s better to figure this out now than after you meet Jesus

    By Craig C. White

Matthew chapter 24 has nothing to do with the Church or with the Rapture. Matthew chapter 24 is directed to Jerusalem and Judea during their seven years of Tribulation. One Jew in Jerusalem will be taken away as prisoner and the other left when the Antichrist attacks Jerusalem. Earthquakes, wars, and famines are signs that happen during the first half of the Tribulation. They are signs to Israel that their great tribulation is about to begin.

The days of Noah do not apply to pre-tribulation or pre-rapture events. Like Noah’s generation was taken away suddenly, the Jews in Jerusalem will be overtaken suddenly by the armies of the Antichrist. Nobody knows the day and hour that the Antichrist will attack Jerusalem and Judea. That’s why Jesus told the residents of Jerusalem to watch.

Applying Matthew chapter 24 to the Church is a recent popular development. Throughout Church history Bible scholars have firmly understood that Jesus is talking to and about the Jews living in Jerusalem and Judea. Even today real Bible scholars understand this. Unfortunately they are few and far between. It is very apparent that Jesus is addressing the Jews if only you read the chapter without popular bias.

Yes we are in the last days but Matthew chapter 24 doesn’t apply now. It’s High Time to gain a mature understanding of the Scriptures. It’s High Time to Awake!

    Hell in the Bible

Hell must be escaped by every person.

    by Craig C. White

Hell is a subject that receives little attention. I would say that most of us don’t understand it as fully as the Bible teaches. Hell is two places; one temporary grave for the wicked soul, and one everlasting harbor of torment for both body and soul. This commentary defines the words that express hell then describes their usage. Definitions are from Strong’s Hebrew Greek dictionary.

Sheol is the Hebrew word translated hell or grave or pit in the Old Testament.

    sheh-ole’, sheh-ole’

hades or the world of the dead (as if a subterranian retreat), including its accessories and inmates: – grave, hell, pit.

Sheol is a place where the unbelieving dead go until their final judgment. It is the local temporary jail as opposed to the longer term prison. Its root word means to demand or lay charge to. So each person in sheol has been charged as guilty and must make payment for their sins. The final sentencing will follow latter. Sheol is a place of fire. It is a place in the depths of the earth.

The fires of sheol will one day burn the earth along with everything on it (Mal 4:1-2, 2Pe 3:10).

Deu 32:22 For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.

Sheol is a place for the wicked.

Psa 9:17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.

Jesus went to sheol for you. Thankfully he didn’t stay there.

Psa 16:10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

Earthly wealth will not endure sheol.

Psa 49:14-17 Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling. 15 But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah. 16 Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased; 17 For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.

Every man must face sheol. God delivers the humble from its terror.

Psa 89:48 What man is he that liveth, and shall not see death? shall he deliver his soul from the hand of the grave? Selah.

A prostitute will lead a man to sheol.

Pro 5:3-5 For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil: 4 But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword. 5 Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.

There is plenty of room in sheol.

Pro 27:20 Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.

The honor, wealth, and power of ungodly men will be swallowed by sheol.

Isa 5:14 Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.

Do you have an agreement with death and sheol? It is null and void!

Isa 28:18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.

    *******

Hades is a Greek word translated hell or grave in the New Testement.

    hah’-dace

unseen, that is, “Hades” or the place (state) of departed souls: – grave, hell.

Hades comes from two Greek words meaning not; and known, or understand, or beheld. It is the place where the souls of the dead cannot be seen by the living. It is used to describe sheol, the place of the wicked dead. Like sheol it is in the earth. While all people good and bad go to the grave, hades describes the unfortunate destination of the wicked.

Don’t worry too much about your present poverty. It isn’t your final state. Seek God and he will care for you. Below, the rich man looks up from Hades and is in torment. He isn’t just thirsty, he is burning in flame. Abraham’s bosom is the other side of the grave. It was God’s provision for the faithful in Old Testament times. Abraham’s bosom was under the earth but was carried away to heaven with Jesus at his resurrection (Psa 68:18, Eph 4:8-9). Today the believing soul is with Jesus in heaven (2Co 5:8).

Luk 16:22-24 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

Jesus has the keys to hades and death. He can deliver you from both.

Rev 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

Hades is the temporary holding cell before an unbeliever’s final sentencing. Hades will be at last cast into the “lake of fire”.

Rev 20:12-15 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

    *******

Tartaroo is a Greek word that is used only once in the New Testament. It is translated as hell in English.

    tar-tar-o’-o

From Τάρταρος Tartaros̄ (the deepest abyss of Hades); to incarcerate in eternal torment: – cast down to hell.

Tartaroo also describes sheol or hades. It is in the earth and is a place of torment. Tartaroo holds a more severe definition than hades in that it describes its deepest darkest depths.

God incarcerated angels in tartaroo for their sin with man shortly after creation (Jud 1:6). These angels will be released on earth to torment the wicked during the seven years “Great Tribulation” (Rev 9:1-11).

    2Pe 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

    *******

Sheol, hades, and tartaroo are words describing the same place. There are also other words that describe this place. They are often expressed as pit in the Old and New Testament. Their definitions include hole (especially one used as a cistern or prison): – cistern, dungeon, fountain, pit, well, a pit (especially for catching animals), corruption, destruction, ditch, and grave. Bottomless pit is defined as the depthless abyss (Rev 9-11, Rev 11:7, Rev 17:8, and Rev 20:1-3).

The pit is a trap each person must escape. Actually the pit can not be escaped, it can only be avoided.

Isa 24:17 Fear, and the pit, and the snare, are upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth.

Jesus will send the nations that are Israel’s enemies down to the pit at his coming. Notice that the pit is in the depths of the earth.

    Eze 26:20 When I shall bring thee down with them that descend into the pit, with the people of old time, and shall set thee in the low parts of the earth, in places desolate of old, with them that go down to the pit, that thou be not inhabited; and I shall set glory in the land of the living;

Jesus has the key to the bottomless pit (Rev 1:18). During the “Great Tribulation” he gives it to an angel to release fallen angels from hell to torment the wicked on earth (Rev 9:1-11).

Rev 9:1-2 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. 2 And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.

A beast in Bible prophecy is an ungodly gentile principality or empire. The next world empire will be a revived Roman empire. During the seven year tribulation period all world power will fall to one man; the Antichrist. So he will be the final beast (Rev 17:11). His spirit will ascend from the bottomless pit to wreak havoc on earth and then go to the eternal place of judgment.

Rev 17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

Satan will be cast into the bottomless pit for one thousand years (Rev 20:1-3). One thousand years is a long time but it isn’t forever. The bottomless pit is temporary.

Rev 20:3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

    *******

So far we have looked at the transitory holding cell of the wicked. Now we will look at the everlasting terminus.

Gehenna means valley of Hinnom. Hinnom was a Jebusite man. King David purchased the temple mount and hill of Ophel (City of David) from him. The Hinnom valley wraps around the bottom half of the city of Jerusalem. Hinnom is a Hebrew word. It is used 12 times in the New Testament in the Greek form Gehenna. It is translated into English as hell.

    gheh’-en-nah

Of Hebrew origin; valley of (the son of) Hinnom; gehenna (or Ge-Hinnom), a valley of Jerusalem, used (figuratively) as a name for the place (or state) of everlasting punishment: – hell.

Gehenna is different than sheol or hades. Gehenna is the final and everlasting place of punishment for those who reject God. It is a place of fire and decay. Both soul and body are cast into Gehenna. Gehenna is not in the earth. As a matter of fact I think Gehenna may be in heaven. Read my commentary titled “Map of Heaven”.

The valley of Hinnom was where the Hebrews sacrificed their children in the fire of false gods. In Jesus’ day it was a burning dump.

2Ch 33:6 And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.

Jesus gave the classic description of Gehenna, the final place of judgment.

Mar 9:44-46 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. 45 And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: 46 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

Unlike sheol or hades both body and soul are cast into Gehenna.

Mat 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

    *******

Lake of fire is only found in the book of revelation. It is made of two Greek words meaning pond or lake (having nearness of shore); and fire.

The lake of fire is the same as Gehenna. After the final judgment each person is thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the final and eternal destination of the rebellious.

The Antichrist and false prophet will be the first to be thrown into the lake of fire.

Rev 19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

Satan will finally be thrown into the lake of fire. Then every ungodly person will be judged by Jesus Christ and also be thrown into the lake of fire.

Rev 20:10-15 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. 11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

    *******

Apoleia is a Greek word translated as destruction, waste, perish, perdition, die, pernicious ways, and damnation.

    ap-o’-li-a

ruin or loss (physical, spiritual or eternal): – damnable (-nation), destruction, die, perdition, X perish, pernicious ways, waste.

Apoleia is used to describe the act of going to the final place of judgment (2Pe 3:7, Rev 17:11).

Hell is real. God created it, and Jesus is the Jail keeper. Hell must be escaped by every person. Jesus Christ provided the only way to escape hell. We are saved from destruction by Jesus’ blood sacrifice. He died in our place so that we may live.

Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
