The LORD is my shepherd
pastor, keeper, friend, companion
Psalm 23
Psalm 23:1-6 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
Who is a shepherd?
The Lord is my shepherd. Who else is a shepherd? The Hebrew word râ‛âh (raw-aw’) is used 171 times in the Old Testament. It is translated into English as shepherd, herdsmen, pastor, feed, keep, friend, companion, and a few other things. In the bible a shepherd is quite often a person who tends sheep. A shepherd is also a person who leads people. Most often a shepherd is a leader of the nation of Israel. A shepherd is a king or other national leader.
Moses was a shepherd of Israel during forty years. He watched over Israel throughout their nomadic travel between Egypt and the land of Israel. Moses was not allowed to enter the land of Israel. He asked God to set another man over Israel after him. Joshua would be their watchman as they entered their land.
Saul was the first king of Israel. Saul was a shepherd over the nation. David was the second king of Israel. As you can see a shepherd should be a protector, a provider, and a king.

Iran Supreme Leader: Muslim world must unite to fight Israel, free Palestine
In the News
Speaking to foreign dignitaries in Tehran, Iran IRNA news agency cites Ali Khamenei as urging Muslim world to resist control by ‘hegemonic powers.’
Iran will follow Turkey’s lead into an invasion of Israel. They will be joined by Libya and Ethiopia-Sudan. Happily these armies are not successful in their attack on Israel. As a matter of fact they are systematically undone. God causes every man’s sword to be against his brother. God uses the forces of nature against these armies; such as an enormous earthquake, pestilence and blood, and overflowing rain, great hailstones, fire, and brimstone.
I think the battle of “Gog and Magog” is a prolonged battle that happens before or during the tribulation. It also happens before the battle of Armageddon. The way that world events are unfolding they lead me to think that the battle of “Gog and Magog” may start soon. Jesus will plead with the invading nations using the forces of nature.
Bible prophecy teachers say that Magog in Ezekiel 38 refers to Russia. But from my house I can’t see Russia! That view of Magog came about by transcribing “chief” (or the Hebrew “rosh”) to mean Russia. Transposing Hebrew words into English phonetic equivalents is not proper bible prophecy interpretation technique. That technique is not used elsewhere to interpret bible prophecy. Rosh means first or primary. Magog is a man who settled in the land of modern day Turkey.
We scratch our heads over this section of bible prophecy because so many of these names are unfamiliar. As we will see Magog is a man. There are three names that are very familiar. Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya. They are today’s Iran, Ethiopia (includes Sudan), and Libya. Wow, we are half way done!
