Magog Made Easier!
Magog Made Easier!
Ezekiel chapter 38 is a prelude to Ezekiel chapter 39
By Craig White
This is my second commentary covering the battle of Gog and Magog. In my first commentary I identify the people and places involved in the battle of Gog and Magog. For more information please first read my commentary titled “Magog Made Easy!”. This commentary titled “Magog Made Easier!” looks at the differences between Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39 and explores the near time possibility of the battle of Gog and Magog.
Gog is the land of modern Turkey. Magog is its leader. Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39 both describe a Turkish led invasion into Israel. My view is that the events of Ezekiel chapter 38 will happen before the events described in Ezekiel chapter 39.
Eze 38:1-3 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, 3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:
Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39 begin in similar ways. God tells Ezekiel to prophesy against the land of Gog (or today’s Turkey). However, Magog the ruler of Gog is named at the beginning of Ezekiel chapter 38. Magog is the ruler of Gog. Magog is not mentioned at the beginning of Ezekiel chapter 39. So Ezekiel chapter 39 is directed more towards the nation of Gog than it is towards its ruler personally. I think that Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39 have separate applications because God divides them into two separate proclamations. It may be that the battle of Ezekiel chapter 38 happens before Israel’s Great Tribulation and the battle of Ezekiel chapter 39 happens a few years later at the end of the Great Tribulation period. I will say more about that when we get to Ezekiel chapter 39.
Eze 38:4 And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:
In Ezekiel 38:4, when Gog attacks Israel then God will turn the Turkish army around like an animal being led with a bit in its mouth (put hooks into thy jaw). A lot of Bible teachers say that this means that the Turkish Army will be turned towards Israel but it actually means that God will cause the Turkish Army to retreat. The term to “put hooks into thy jaws” is used elsewhere in the Bible. Just like God caused the Assyrian Army to retreat in 734 BC God will also cause the Turkish Army to retreat. Read my commentary titled Hooks into thy jaws.
The Ezekiel chapter 38 invasion into Israel may begin soon. The Turkish army is now amassed on the Syrian border; both in Turkey and now inside of Syria. Turkish President Erdogan has proclaimed that the sole reason that Turkey has entered Syria is to remove Syrian President Assad from power in Damascus. The Turkish Army may destroy Damascus (Isaiah 17:1 and Jeremiah 49:24-27) and then march a few miles southward into Israel.
Eze 38:5 Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet: 6 Gomer, and all his bands; the house of Togarmah of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many people with thee.
I explain the identities of these people in my commentary “Magog Made Easy”. Persia, Ethiopia (Cush), and Libya are today’s Iran, Sudan, and Libya. They are all fighting in Syria today.
Eze 38:6-7 Gomer, and all his bands; the house of Togarmah of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many people with thee. 7 Be thou prepared, and prepare for thyself, thou, and all thy company that are assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto them.
Magog, Meshech, Tubal, and Gomer were brothers. Togarmah is Gomer’s son. They were among the first families to resettle the world after the devastation of Noah’s flood. They all settled together in today’s Turkey. The north quarters literally describes the northern quadrant of Turkey, not a northern country. Today the largest population center in Turkey is located around Istanbul in far northwestern Turkey. So Turkey will lead an invasion into Israel joined by Iran, Sudan, and Libya.
Eze 38:8 After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.
This prophecy will take place a long time after it was given to Ezekiel. It will take place in the latter years meaning last or end. The latter years are the years before Jesus Christ’s return to Earth to judge the nations and rule on Earth. Turkey will be visited by a person with intentions of mustering troops to invade Israel. This may be referring to Magog himself, the Turkish leader who will instigate the battle. Today it is easy to see that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is eager to start a war with Israel (read my commentary titled “Mr. Magog”).
The land brought back from the sword is the land of Israel again inhabited by the Jewish people. The phrases out of many people and out of the nations are the same Hebrew words meaning “out of every tribe”. So Israel will be inhabiting the land in peace and prosperity before this invasion, just as they are today.
Eze 38:9 Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee. 10 Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought: 11 And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates, 12 To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land. 13 Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?
Please notice that the armies are gathered but have not yet invaded the land of Israel. Sheba and Dedan refer to the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. Tarshish refers to Lebanon. Tarshish was the name of the rock island fortress that once sat off of the coast of Tyre in southern Lebanon. Ezekiel doesn’t say that Saudi Arabia is joined in the battle, but that they ask the Turkish led army if it is about to invade Israel in order to acquire wealth.
Eze 38:14 Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say unto Gog, Thus saith the Lord GOD; In that day when my people of Israel dwelleth safely, shalt thou not know it? 15 And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts, thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great company, and a mighty army: 16 And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes.
In verse 14 above, the phrase “shalt thou not know it?” means that Turkey will be able to see that Israel is dwelling in peace. In verse 15 above, the phrase “north parts” again means northern quadrant. I think that this is again referring to northern Turkey. Today the Turkish Army is gathered on the northwestern Syrian border. Turkish President Erdogan wants Syrian President Assad to be removed from power. If Turkey attacks the Syrian capital of Damascus, then they would be in position to invade Israel from the north. In verse 16 above, the heathen are nations. The nations will recognize and observe God as he deals with the invading armed forces.
Eze 38:17 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Art thou he of whom I have spoken in old time by my servants the prophets of Israel, which prophesied in those days many years that I would bring thee against them?
This is a trick question. The answer is yes. This is the army that Jesus will defeat in the battle of Armageddon. But this is not yet the battle of Armageddon. The battle of Armageddon is most certainly described in Ezekiel chapter 39. Not all prophecy regarding the end time invasion into Israel will be fulfilled during the Ezekiel chapter 38 battle. Ezekiel chapter 38 is a preview and a prelude to Ezekiel chapter 39. I think that the events that are described in Ezekiel chapter 39 are the events that have been prophesied to happen at the end of the Tribulation period when Jesus returns to defeat the invading armies. The Ezekiel chapter 38 forces will again invade Israel and Jesus Christ himself will trample them like grapes (Isa 63:3, Jer 25:30, Rev 14:20). In Ezekiel 39:8 God tells us that Ezekiel chapter 39 describes the day of the Lord.
Eze 39:8 Behold, it is come, and it is done, saith the Lord GOD; this is the day whereof I have spoken.
Eze 38:18 And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, that my fury shall come up in my face. 19 For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken, Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel; 20 So that the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the field, and all creeping things that creep upon the earth, and all the men that are upon the face of the earth, shall shake at my presence, and the mountains shall be thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground. 21 And I will call for a sword against him throughout all my mountains, saith the Lord GOD: every man’s sword shall be against his brother.
You get the picture. In verse 21 above, the invading forces battle among themselves. In verse 22 below, the word plead means to Judge. The word “bands” refers to military troops.
Eze 38:22 And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. 23 Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the LORD.
It is important to note that God uses the forces of nature against the invading armies. God sends an enormous earthquake, pestilence (destruction) and blood (bloodshed), and overflowing rain, great hailstones, fire, and brimstone.
Again, the nations will recognize and observe God as he deals with the invading armed forces. This doesn’t mean that the nations will reverence God but they will recognize his handiwork.
Now let’s look at Ezekiel chapter 39. This is the second proclamation against the nation of Gog, or today’s nation of Turkey.
Eze 39:1 Therefore, thou son of man, prophesy against Gog, and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal:
Ezekiel chapter 39 begins much the same as chapter 38. God proclaims for the second time that he is against the nation of Gog (or Turkey). However, the other nations of Iran, Ethiopia (Sudan), or Libya are not mentioned. In Ezekiel chapter 38 the nations observe God’s hand at work while defending Israel. In Ezekiel chapter 39 Israel finally trusts in their God. We will discover that the battle described in Ezekiel chapter 39 is conclusive. God will no longer allow the nations to invade Israel. So the events described in Ezekiel chapter 39 must take place at the end of the Tribulation period when Jesus Christ returns to defeat Israel’s enemies and to rule in Jerusalem. Only then will Israel be forever at peace. Only then will all Jewish people be faithful towards their God.
Eze 39:2 And I will turn thee back, and leave but the sixth part of thee, and will cause thee to come up from the north parts, and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel:
Again God will cause the Armies led by the nation of Gog to retreat. It seems that God will wipe out all but one sixth of the soldiers but the phrase “leave but the sixth part of thee” may actually mean to annihilate. God will bring the Armies of Gog upon the mountains of Israel. At the end of the Tribulation period Israel will be attacked from several fronts (read my commentary titled “Revelation Wrath Path”). We know that God will gather some of the armies of Israel’s enemies at the valley of Megiddo in the northern mountainous part of Israel. It seems that Ezekiel 39 is describing the battle of Armageddon.
Revelation 16:16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.
Eze 39:3 And I will smite thy bow out of thy left hand, and will cause thine arrows to fall out of thy right hand.
In verse 3 above, God disarms the invading armies.
Eze 39:4 Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands, and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured.
Verse 4 above, describes the day of the Lord, which is the time of Jesus Christ’s vengeance on all of Israel’s enemies. The day of God’s vengeance lasts through the seven year Tribulation period, culminating with Jesus’ second coming at the end of the Great Tribulation. This same day is described in Revelation chapter 19 below.
Rev 19:17-18 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; 18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.
Eze 39:5 Thou shalt fall upon the open field: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD. 6 And I will send a fire on Magog, and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the LORD.
In verse 5 above, to send a fire means that God will send an army to destroy the land of Israel’s enemies. This same expression is used in Hos 8:14, and several times in Amos 1 & 2, it is also used in Jdg 20:48, 2Ki 8:12, Psa 74:7, and Lam 1:13.
Eze 39:7 So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel.
In verse 7 above, the heathen or nations will no longer profane the God of Israel. This war can only take place at the end of the Great Tribulation. After Jesus judges Israel’s enemies then he will set his throne in Jerusalem to rule on Earth forever.
In verse 8 below, God tells us clearly that this is the day of the Lords vengeance that the prophets have foretold. In the previous chapter of Ezekiel, God asks the question “is the Turkish leader (Magog) the invader whom the prophets foretold?” He was that person. But I think that the events of Ezekiel chapter 38 are a preview of the main battle of Gog and Magog. The events of Ezekiel chapter 39 fulfill the major prophecies about the day of the Lord. I wonder if a false interpretation of the soon coming Turkish led invasion into Israel will entice Israel to make a peace treaty with Turkish President Erdogan.
Eze 38:17 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Art thou he of whom I have spoken in old time by my servants the prophets of Israel, which prophesied in those days many years that I would bring thee against them?
Eze 39:8 Behold, it is come, and it is done, saith the Lord GOD; this is the day whereof I have spoken.
The verses below describe the 7 month burial period for the armies of Gog. Hamongog means the “multitude of Gog”. Hamonah means simply “multitude”. Remember that Gog identifies the nation and Magog identifies its ruler. Turkey’s ruler isn’t being buried here but the Turkish Army is.
Eze 39:9 And they that dwell in the cities of Israel shall go forth, and shall set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and the bucklers, the bows and the arrows, and the handstaves, and the spears, and they shall burn them with fire seven years: 10 So that they shall take no wood out of the field, neither cut down any out of the forests; for they shall burn the weapons with fire: and they shall spoil those that spoiled them, and rob those that robbed them, saith the Lord GOD. 11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will give unto Gog a place there of graves in Israel, the valley of the passengers on the east of the sea: and it shall stop the noses of the passengers: and there shall they bury Gog and all his multitude: and they shall call it The valley of Hamongog. 12 And seven months shall the house of Israel be burying of them, that they may cleanse the land. 13 Yea, all the people of the land shall bury them; and it shall be to them a renown the day that I shall be glorified, saith the Lord GOD. 14 And they shall sever out men of continual employment, passing through the land to bury with the passengers those that remain upon the face of the earth, to cleanse it: after the end of seven months shall they search. 15 And the passengers that pass through the land, when any seeth a man’s bone, then shall he set up a sign by it, till the buriers have buried it in the valley of Hamongog. 16 And also the name of the city shall be Hamonah. Thus shall they cleanse the land.
The verses below, describe the supper of the great God. Israel’s enemies will die on the battle ground and be eaten by birds and beasts. No thanks, I have reservations to the marriage supper of the Lamb.
Rev 19:17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;
The supper of the great God is not to be confused with the marriage supper of the lamb. The marriage supper of the lamb is a very nice banquet where all Church age believers are presented to all faithful Old Testament Jews. All of whom have been resurrected from the dead, and will be very hungry. The marriage supper of the lamb happens on earth after the Great Tribulation. This is where I will eat steak with Ezekiel.
Rev 19:9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.
Eze 39:17 And, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD; Speak unto every feathered fowl, and to every beast of the field, Assemble yourselves, and come; gather yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I do sacrifice for you, even a great sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel, that ye may eat flesh, and drink blood. 18 Ye shall eat the flesh of the mighty, and drink the blood of the princes of the earth, of rams, of lambs, and of goats, of bullocks, all of them fatlings of Bashan. 19 And ye shall eat fat till ye be full, and drink blood till ye be drunken, of my sacrifice which I have sacrificed for you. 20 Thus ye shall be filled at my table with horses and chariots, with mighty men, and with all men of war, saith the Lord GOD.
The nations of Israel’s enemies will see that God has judged against them. Jesus will set his throne in Jerusalem. The nations will see God’s faithfulness towards Israel.
Eze 39:21 And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them. 22 So the house of Israel shall know that I am the LORD their God from that day and forward. 23 And the heathen shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity: because they trespassed against me, therefore hid I my face from them, and gave them into the hand of their enemies: so fell they all by the sword. 24 According to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions have I done unto them, and hid my face from them.
After Israel’s Great Tribulation, the people of Israel will at last believe in their God. In verse 25 below, God will gather the Jewish people from every nation. God will raise every believing Jew from the dead and return them to the land of Israel from the nations where they were held captive (read my commentary titled “Aliyah Israel Arise Return”).
Eze 39:25 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Now will I bring again the captivity of Jacob, and have mercy upon the whole house of Israel, and will be jealous for my holy name; 26 After that they have borne their shame, and all their trespasses whereby they have trespassed against me, when they dwelt safely in their land, and none made them afraid. 27 When I have brought them again from the people, and gathered them out of their enemies’ lands, and am sanctified in them in the sight of many nations; 28 Then shall they know that I am the LORD their God, which caused them to be led into captivity among the heathen: but I have gathered them unto their own land, and have left none of them any more there. 29 Neither will I hide my face any more from them: for I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.
Israel will never again be in unbelief toward their God.
I think that Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39 are describing two separate battles. Their events have similarities but they happen at slightly different times. It is certain that both chapters describe events that happen near the time of the second coming of Jesus Christ. We can easily watch for a Turkish led Invasion into Israel. We can easily identify the participating nations of Iran, Sudan, and Libya. We can recognize that these nations today are likely to join forces against Israel. We can easily identify the Turkish leader that has the propensity to make war with Israel. We can recognize God’s works in the last days before Christ’s return.
Today the world is poised for a Turkish led invasion into the Golan Heights of Israel. We should all be aware of Ezekiel’s prophecy and be watchful. It is High Time to Awake!

Psalm 83 War

Psalm 83 War
Kept in a secret place!
By Craig C. White
It is very popular these days to say that the Psalm 83 war will happen soon. Well it will happen pretty soon, but not before the Rapture of the Church, and not before the Great Tribulation of Israel. It will happen during Jerusalem’s Great Tribulation. Psalm 83 is short and simple. The key to understanding it is to recognize who “thy hidden ones” are in verse 3. “Thy hidden one” are the Jews from Judea (region south of Jerusalem) who have fled into the wilderness during the second half of the Tribulation period. The wilderness is the mountainous region of Judea and Jordan east of Jerusalem.
Mark 13:14 But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:
The Jews escaping Judea will take refuge in Jordan for three and one half years. At the end of that time Israel’s enemies will try to kill them. Psalm 83 is a request for God’s help. It represents the Judean refugee’s call for defense at the end of the Tribulation period. Jesus Christ will personally come through Jordan defeating Israel’s enemies (read Revelation Wrath Path). In the verse below, Edom and Bozrah are in todays Jordan.
Isa 63:1 Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.
In Isaiah 16 below, God allows the Jews escaping Judah to take refuge in Moab which is in today’s Jordan east of the Dead Sea. This verse is applied to the time just before Jesus Christ takes his place on his throne in Jerusalem.
Isa 16:3-5 Take counsel, execute judgment; make thy shadow as the night in the midst of the noonday; hide the outcasts; bewray not him that wandereth. 4 Let mine outcasts dwell with thee, Moab; be thou a covert to them from the face of the spoiler: for the extortioner is at an end, the spoiler ceaseth, the oppressors are consumed out of the land. 5 And in mercy shall the throne be established: and he shall sit upon it in truth in the tabernacle of David, judging, and seeking judgment, and hasting righteousness.
Psalm 83 has four sections; God, be not still, Counsel Council, List of enemies, and Do unto others as you have done unto them before!

Much of Daniel chapter 8 is ancient history
Much of Daniel chapter 8 is ancient history
But Daniel 8:9 predicts the Antichrist
By Craig C. White
Daniel chapter 8:3-8 describes the Mede & Persian Empire as it conquers the old world and then is defeated by the Grecian Empire. The two horns on the ram represent Persia and the Medes who were dual rulers over the Mede & Persian Empire. In verse 5 we are introduced to the Grecian Empire. The one notable horn represents Alexander the great. After Alexander died the Grecian Empire was divided into four parts (see verse 8).
Dan 8:3-8 Then I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, there stood before the river a ram which had two horns: and the two horns were high; but one was higher than the other, and the higher came up last. 4 I saw the ram pushing westward, and northward, and southward; so that no beasts might stand before him, neither was there any that could deliver out of his hand; but he did according to his will, and became great. 5 And as I was considering, behold, an he goat came from the west on the face of the whole earth, and touched not the ground: and the goat had a notable horn between his eyes. 6 And he came to the ram that had two horns, which I had seen standing before the river, and ran unto him in the fury of his power. 7 And I saw him come close unto the ram, and he was moved with choler against him, and smote the ram, and brake his two horns: and there was no power in the ram to stand before him, but he cast him down to the ground, and stamped upon him: and there was none that could deliver the ram out of his hand. 8 Therefore the he goat waxed very great: and when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and for it came up four notable ones toward the four winds of heaven.
Many Bible prophecy teachers don’t see end time fulfillment in Daniel chapter 8 until it starts talking about Antiochus Epiphanies. It does that twice. Once beginning at verse 9 and again in its interpretation beginning at verse 23. That is because we are also told elsewhere in the Bible about the end time invasion of Jerusalem and the ending of the temple sacrifices.
In Daniel chapter 8:9 we are introduced to Antiochus Epiphanies who was the ruler over one quarter of the Grecian Empire. Most Bible teachers think that Antiochus is a model for the Antichrist. The Antichrist will conquer Egypt, invade Jerusalem, and stop the temple sacrifice just like Antiochus did in 167 BC.
Dan 8:9-12 And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land. 10 And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them. 11 Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down. 12 And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered.
Daniel chapter 8 interprets itself beginning at Daniel 8:19.
Dan 8:19-25 And he said, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the last end of the indignation: for at the time appointed the end shall be. 20 The ram which thou sawest having two horns are the kings of Media and Persia. 21 And the rough goat is the king of Grecia: and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king. 22 Now that being broken, whereas four stood up for it, four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation, but not in his power. 23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up. 24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people. 25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.
Some prominent Bible teachers try to apply Daniel chapter 8:3-8 to end time events which only results in confusion. The result is that they begin looking for a Greek king to die and for his kingdom to be divided into four parts. They think that the Antichrist will come out of that divided kingdom. I think that this is an unfortunate assumption. There is no hint or indication that Daniel chapter 8:3-8 refers to end time events. On the other hand the historic actions of Antiochus Epiphanies obviously do correlate to the predicted end time invasion of Jerusalem by the Antichrist. The Antichrist will invade Jerusalem and stop the temple sacrifices just like Antiochus Epiphanie did. That is easy to see. The end time invasion of Jerusalem is a major theme in both the Old and New Testaments (See Daniel 12:11, Matthew 24:15, and 2Thessalonians 2:4). Attempting to fit the events described in Daniel 8:3-8 into an end time scenario prevents many Bible teachers from proclaiming outright that Turkish President Erdogan is the Antichrist. Blindness in part has happened to the Christians.
If we look at the way that Bible prophecy paints the development of ancient world empires with broad strokes than we can see how we might look at future world events. There is no surprise character that suddenly appears upsetting the play just before it ends.
Turkish President Erdogan is the Antichrist. He is showing himself more and more each day. Much of the Islamic world has already pledged their allegiance to Erdogan as their promised Mahdi. Erdogan is being worshiped as god and he isn’t complaining about it. Turkish President Erdogan is craftily grabbing complete control in Turkey. He has told the world over and over again that he intends to be the Sultan of a revived Ottoman Empire. Why can’t Christians recognize this? It is High Time to Awake! Turkish President Erdogan is the Antichrist! Our salvation is so much nearer than when we first believed!

What shall be the sign of thy coming?
Earthquake, Canterbury, NZ. Photo credit: Martin LuffWhat shall be the sign of thy coming?
Earthquakes or the Antichrist?
Matthew 24
By Craig C. White
Many Bible teachers say that there will be earthquakes and wars before Jesus Christ returns for his Church. They say that these signs are the beginning of sorrows mentioned in Matthew 24:8. Well hold on just a minute. Are these signs meant for the Church or do these signs precede Israel’s terrible time of trouble?
In Matthew 24 Jesus is asked the question “what shall be the sign of thy coming?” Which coming is he describing? Is he describing his coming to gather Church age believers, or is he describing the period before he comes to rescue the nation of Israel and set up his throne in Jerusalem?
Matthew 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
First it is important to understand who Jesus is talking to. He is talking to his disciples. It is important to note that they are all Jewish. They are all looking forward to God establishing his kingdom on earth. It is also important to note when the message was given. It was given by Jesus before his death, and before the gospel was preached to the gentile nations. This message was given before the Church was established.
Then it is important to carefully examine the message itself. Are there clues to which group of people Jesus is prophesying about? Yes, there are very clear indications that Jesus is prophesying about the trails of the Jewish people during the Tribulation period. So Matthew 24 should not be used to illustrate the signs of the rapture of the Church. Also Matthew 24 should not be used to prove that the Church will participate in the Tribulation period.
The gospels are very important since they record Jesus Christ’s genealogy, standards of righteousness, forgiveness of sin, miracles, fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy regarding the Messiah, and Christ’s death as payment for the worlds’ sin. The message of the four gospels is to be understood by Church age believers. We should also understand that most of Jesus’ teaching, parables, and prophecy are specifically directed to the nation of Israel. Jesus was sent especially to seek and to save the lost sheep of Israel.
Mat 10:5-6 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: 6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Mat 15:24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
It is sometimes difficult to know who is being addressed in the New Testament. Is Jesus talking about the nation of Israel or is he talking about the Church? A rule of thumb is that Jesus was sent to the Jews first and primarily. The gospel of the coming kingdom of God was preached first to the Jews and then to the Gentiles. Jesus primarily taught the nation of Israel. The four gospels were written about Jesus’ life and ministry. They primarily address the nation of Israel. Of course, there is plenty of teaching to be absorbed by Church age believers. The disciples taught the Jews first and then went out to the other nations. The epistles to the churches were written specifically to Church age believers!
Act 26:20 But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.
Let’s take a quick look at Matthew 24. I know that preachers and prophecy buffs like to identify natural disasters as signs of Jesus’ return for his Church, but these signs were written about the nation of Israel during the Great Tribulation. They are signs of Jesus’ second coming to defeat Israel’s enemies and set his throne in Jerusalem forever.
Matthew 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. 6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
So who is Jesus talking about? As we will see, “the beginning of sorrows” in verse 8 above are not signs that Church age believers should be on the lookout for. Instead, they are events that will happen during the first part of the Tribulation period. Jesus is talking to and about the nation of Israel here. In verse 9 below Jesus tells his Jewish disciples that “ye shall be hated of all nations”. The word translated as “nations” is the Greek word “ethnos”. It is often translated as “gentile”. Ethnos refers to non-Jewish nations. It doesn’t refer to all countries in the world. It refers to all families or people groups. In practical terms it refers to old world nations that came from specific families; like the Greeks, Turks, Egyptians, Syrians, Iranians, Saudis, Jordanians, and many more. So in verse 9 Jesus isn’t saying that Church members will be hated, but that the nation of Israel will be hated by all their surrounding nations.
Matthew 24:9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake. 10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
In the verses below Jesus isn’t addressing the Church, but he is warning Jews during the 7 year Tribulation period. Many Jews will disregard God and his promises to Israel. Many Jews will be killed. But those who trust God to the end will be saved. Please read my commentary titled “The Last Jews in Jerusalem” in my book “Israel’s Beacon of Hope”.
Matthew 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
In Matthew 24:14 below we can see that Jesus is talking about the Tribulation period. The Tribulation period is a seven year span designated for God to show his displeasure for Israel’s rejection of him. In Matthew 24:14 the gospel is preached in all the world. This happens during the Tribulation period as described in Revelation. So we can see that Jesus is addressing people that live during the Tribulation period.
Rev 14:6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
The following verses are obviously addressed to Jews living around Jerusalem. The inhabitants of Judea (region around Jerusalem) are called by name in verse 16. So it is very clear that Jesus is describing the coming trials of the nation of Israel, and not the signs of the rapture of his Church.
Matthew 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) 16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: 17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:
If that isn’t enough evidence that Jesus is describing Israel’s Great Tribulation, then look at Matthew 24:21 below. This is the verse that we get the term “Great Tribulation” from.
Matthew 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
Today the Church is suffering at the hands of the nations, but the nation of Israel is scheduled to suffer 7 years of tribulation. In Matthew 24 Jesus is explaining the trials that Israel will suffer during the Tribulation period. The beginning of sorrows in Matthew 24:8 are the events of the first part of the Tribulation. After the abomination of desolation in Mat 24:15 the worst part of the Tribulation begins (Dan 9:27). It is called “great tribulation” in Matthew 24:21. The second part of the Tribulation lasts 3 ½ years or 42 months or 1260 days (Dan 7:25, Dan 12:7, Rev 11:2-3, Rev 12:6, Rev 12:14, Rev 13:5).
The Tribulation Period is designated to exercise God’s indignation towards the nation of Israel, not for the trying of the Church. The 7 year Tribulation period is the same as the seventieth week prophesied by Daniel (Dan 9:24). It is a 7 year period of trouble for the nation of Israel, not a time for trying the Church. Jeremiah calls the Tribulation “the time of Jacob’s trouble” not the time of the Church’s trouble. The Tribulation period is primarily designed for Israel’s chastisement.
Jer 30:7 Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.
In 1 Thessalonians below the dead in Christ are raised from the grave. Those “in Christ” are Church age believers. They are “caught up” or taken by force up into the sky. The gathering of Jews will happen differently as we will see. Please read my commentary titled “The Rapture Day!” in my book “God’s Great Expectations”.
1Th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Below, the elect are God’s chosen people (Deu 7:6). They are the people of Israel. The people of Israel will be raised from the dead at the end of the Tribulation period. They won’t be taken into the sky. They will walk back to the land of Israel on foot.
Matthew 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
Isa 11:11-12 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. 12 And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.
God will make a roadway for the Hebrews to return to Israel. God will dry up the Red Sea, and the Euphrates, and Tigris Rivers to make roadways for the resurrected Jewish believers to cross over. In Isaiah 11:15-16 below Jesus dries up the Gulf of Aqaba on the Red Sea (that is the tongue of the Egyptian sea)! He will also dry up the Nile, Euphrates, and Tigris rivers in order to make a way for the resurrected Hebrews to cross over them! Please read my commentary titled “Aliyah Israel Arise Return” in my book “Israel’s Beacon of Hope”.
Isa 11:15-16 And the LORD shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty wind shall he shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over dryshod. 16 And there shall be an highway for the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.
We have looked at the signs of Jesus’ coming to gather Israel. So what is the sign of Jesus’ coming to gather his Church? Well there isn’t one specific event that triggers the Rapture but we are instructed to understand Old Testament prophecy in order to recognize the Tribulation as it approaches! The Rapture will happen before the Tribulation.
In 2 Thessalonians below, Paul is addressing the Church in Greece which was comprised largely of Gentiles, not of Jews. Paul calls them brethren in Christ. So Paul is describing the Rapture of the Church in verse 1. The believers in Thessalonica were worried that the Tribulation was beginning. They were worried that the Rapture had not yet happened! Paul told them that two Old Testament prophecies must take place before Jerusalem’s great tribulation began. Those two events were the falling of Satan from heaven to earth and the revealing of the Antichrist as he sits in the temple in Jerusalem. I think that these two events actually happen during the first half of the seven year Tribulation period. Paul was assuring the Thessalonians that the Tribulation had not yet begun. Paul was assuring the Thessalonians that they would escape the terrible time of trouble on earth. Please read my commentary titled “The Fall of Satan and Rise of the Antichrist” in my book of the same title.
2Th 2:1-3 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
In 2 Thessalonians 2:13-14 below Paul says that the Church members in Thessalonica will be saved from the coming tribulation. The word “salvation” in verse 13 isn’t describing deliverance from sin, but it is describing physical rescue from God’s wrath on earth during the Tribulation.
2Th 2:13-14 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: 14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Here are two other verses that indicate that Church age believers will escape from the wrath of the Tribulation period. These people have already been saved from sin. Salvation here is the rescue from physical harm during the Tribulation on Earth.
Rom 5:7-10 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
Rom 13:11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
Again physical rescue or “salvation” comes to people who already believe!
If you are still on earth when you see most of the old world nations at full scale war with each other and also hear of famines, and disease outbreaks, and earthquakes happening all over the world, then you are in trouble. You have entered the beginning stages of the Tribulation period. It is High Time to Awake!

400 Russian military police stationed near Golan Heights
400 Russian military police stationed near Golan Heights
This is the prelude to the battle of Gog and Magog but not led by RussiaBy Craig C. White
400 Russian military police are being stationed in southern Syria. Russia is setting up observation posts near Damascus and also near the Golan Heights of Syria. Moscow had informed Israel, the United States, and Jordan about the deployment. Israel has insisted on international policing of Syrian and Iranian military activity in southern Syria. These Russian patrolmen are being stationed in southern Syria in order to help control aggression towards Israel from the Syrian Army and Pro-Assad Iranian troops and also from Iranian supported Hezbollah fighters.A lot of people see Russia described in the Ezekiel chapter 38 invasion into Israel. However, the “chief prince” of Meshech and Tubal describes a Turkish ruler and not Russia.
Ezekiel 38:1-2 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him,I know that some people will jump to the conclusion that this is Russia beginning to lead the Islamic nations into Israel, but it is not. Make no mistake. Israel will be invaded. But Turkey will lead the invasion and not Russia. Turkish President Erdogan will play the role of the end time Magog; the primary governor among the provinces of Turkey.
I believe that the Ezekiel chapter 38 invasion into Israel will mimic the 734 BC Assyrian conquest of Syria and the following invasion into northern Israel. In other words Turkey will first besiege Damascus and then lead the Islamic nations into the Golan Heights of northern Israel. That’s why the Antichrist is likened to the Assyrian kings in Isaiah chapter 10 and elsewhere. In 734 BC Israel asked Assyria for help fighting against Syria. Assyria then conquered Syria and promptly invaded northern Israel. It could be that this time Israel will ask Turkey to help fight against Syria. Russia is a Syrian ally. So it is unlikely that they would fight against the Syrian Army. Turkish President Erdogan on the other hand can’t wait to remove Syrian President Assad from power in Damascus. Turkey will play the role of the end time Assyrian. Erdogan will lead the Islamic nations into Israel. Turkish President Erdogan is the Antichrist!

Why do the Heathen Rage?
Photo credit: Monasosh: During Egypt’s “Days of Rage”; The sign reads, “Down with Omar Suleiman, Israel man”. Omar Suleiman is Egypt’s top intelligence chief. He was appointed vice-president by Hosni Mubarak on January 29, 2011. Suleiman has an anti-Islamist view and is sympathetic toward Israel. Why do the Heathen Rage?
Rebellion is refusing to humble oneself under the authority of God.
Psalm 2, Acts 4
by Craig C. White
Throughout the Middle East and northern Africa the nations are exercising their “Days of Rage”. It has been widely proclaimed by the media that the nations are fighting to establish democracy. While some hope for democracy; Rage is induced by a different impulse. King David illuminates this timely question. “Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?”
Psa 2:1-12 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? 2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, 3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. 4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. 5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure. 6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. 7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. 8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. 9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel. 10 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. 11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. 12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
Why do the Heathen Rage? Let’s take this one verse at a time.
Psa 2:2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,
The LORD’s anointed is Jesus Christ. The baptism of Jesus and his anointing with the Holy Spirit is recorded in all four gospels. This anointing of the Holy Spirit and the witness of God’s own voice prove that Jesus is the Son of God. We also have the following report of an eye-witness, namely John the Baptist. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.
Mar 1:9-11 And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. 10 And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: 11 And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Psa 2:3-5 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. 4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. 5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.
Why do the Heathen Rage? Here is the answer to our question. The heathen declare they will remove any authority or accountability that God the father or his Son have over them. This is of course impossible. God laughs at their opposition. Created earthly powers cannot compare with his power. They are too far inferior. God is above everything and separate from his creation.
Rebellion is a certain type of sin. It is more insidious than sexual immorality or murder or theft. Rebellion is refusing to humble oneself under the authority of the one true God. The result of rebellion is everlasting punishment.
Joh 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
The nations rage in order to break accountability to God. This vain rage results in Israel’s sore distress. In “the day of the Lord”, God will break the yoke that the heathen has placed on the neck of Israel. Israel will no longer have to bend to international pressure to give up their land or defend their right to exist.
Jer 30:8 For it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and will burst thy bonds, and strangers shall no more serve themselves of him:
Psa 2:6-9 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
After the “heathen rage” God places Jesus upon his everlasting throne in Jerusalem and gives him great honor. All nations are put under the authority of Jesus Christ. They are his to rule and judge forever.
Psa 2:10-12 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. 11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. 12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
Kings, Presidents, Governors listen up! When Jesus is king on Earth; he will reign with an iron rod. He will not tolerate dissent. My advice is that you begin serving him now.
Who are the “heathen”? What does the original Hebrew term go’ee or goyim mean? “Goyim” is commonly translated as nations, heathen, or gentiles in the English Bible. According to “Strong’s Hebrew and Greek Dictionaries” the root of go’ee refers to a massing of people, nations, animals, or locusts etc.
go’ee, go’-ee
Apparently from the same root as H1465 (in the sense of massing); a foreign nation; hence a Gentile; also (figuratively) a troop of animals, or a flight of locusts: – Gentile, heathen, nation, people.
In Joel’s three short chapters, God warns Israel that a nation is coming against them who are like locusts. There are a lot of them and they leave a path of destruction. Babylon partly fulfilled this prophecy in 608-585 B.C. Babylon attacked Judah on three different occasions. Joel’s prophecy also refers to a future invasion just prior to “the great and the terrible day of the Lord” (Joel 1:15, 2:1, 2:31, 3:14). Palmerworm, locust, cankerworm, and caterpillar are all referring to types of locusts.
Joe 1:4 That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpiller eaten. 5 Awake, ye drunkards, and weep; and howl, all ye drinkers of wine, because of the new wine; for it is cut off from your mouth. 6 For a nation is come up upon my land, strong, and without number, whose teeth are the teeth of a lion, and he hath the cheek teeth of a great lion.
The locusts look like horses with teeth of a lion!
Joe 2:4-5 The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run. 5 Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array.
The description of the locusts in revelation is nearly identical to that in Joel.
Rev 9:7-11 And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men. 8 And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions. 9 And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle. 10 And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months. 11 And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.
So, according to the root definition of the Hebrew word “goyim” and the prophet Joel, the “heathen” will invade Israel like locusts.
“Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? “ After the death and resurrection of Jesus the apostles Peter and John remember King David’s question.
Act 4:25-28 Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things? 26 The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ. 27 For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, 28 For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.
In Acts 4 the heathen rage and put Jesus to death. Perhaps heathen today reason they can accomplish this again. They forget that Jesus Christ rose from the dead. God raised him up, because it was not possible that death could hold him (Acts 2:24).
Act 2:24 Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.
Christ’s death does not satisfy King David’s prophecy. The heathen are raging again. This time God will place Jesus upon his everlasting throne in Jerusalem.
Psa 2:6-9 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
God asked the question, “Why do the heathen rage?”. Today the world is answering that question. They say that the heathen rage for democracy. Of course they are giving the wrong answer. God knew they would. He gave the question “Why do the Heathen Rage?” as a sign of the end times. The heathen are raging and we are very close to Christ’s coming for his church, the Great Tribulation, and most importantly the establishment of Jesus Christ’s kingdom on Earth.

Residue of a Remnant
Residue of a Remnant
Zechariah 14:2
By Craig C. White
The English Bible uses the word “remnant”. A remnant most interestingly refers to a small part that is left of the whole nation of Israel after God judges them.
One Hebrew word for “remnant” is:
sheh-ay-reeth’
a remainder or residual (surviving, final) portion: – that had escaped, be left, posterity, remain (-der), remnant, residue, rest. Here is the word “remnant” used in a verse.
2Ch 30:6 So the posts went with the letters from the king and his princes throughout all Israel and Judah, and according to the commandment of the king, saying, Ye children of Israel, turn again unto the LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, and he will return to the remnant of you, that are escaped out of the hand of the kings of Assyria.
In the verse above the Kings of Assyria invaded Israel and carried away most of the Jews as captives. They were taken to what we know as northern Iraq today. So the King of Israel sent letters to the remaining Jews in Israel saying “Turn to God”! The remnant are those Jews who were left to rebuild the nation of Israel after God judged them by the hands of the Kings of Assyria.
There is an even more interesting word used in the English bible, “Residue”! Residue can mean an even smaller group of people!
yeh’-ther
Properly an overhanging, that is, (by implication) an excess, superiority, remainder; also a small rope (as hanging free): – + abundant, cord, exceeding, excellency (-ent), what they leave, that hath left, plentifully, remnant, residue, rest, string, with.Zec 14:2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
In the verse above “residue” refers to the few inhabitants of Jerusalem who do not flee but stay behind in the city and are hunkered on Mt. Zion until the end of the Tribulation.
Here are the two words residue and remnant used together in the same verse.
Zep 2:9 Therefore as I live, saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah, even the breeding of nettles, and saltpits, and a perpetual desolation: the residue of my people shall spoil them, and the remnant of my people shall possess them.
In the verse above “the residue of my people” are the people of Judea who have fled into the Jordanian wilderness during the Tribulation. When Jesus returns they will plunder Jordan.
Also in the verse above “the remnant of my people” includes every Jew who has survived the Tribulation!
The residue is only part of the remnant.
Several Hebrew words are translated as “remnant” and “residue”. Sometimes the English word for remnant and residue are the same Hebrew word.
Very interesting to read and hard to stop. – Alexandria

The flooding of Mosul and the defeat of ISIS
The flooding of Mosul and the defeat of ISIS
By Craig C. White
Things are not over in Mosul, Iraq. ISIS leader Al-Baghdadi is alive. Some 250 families are still being held by ISIS in the Old City neighborhood of western Mosul. ISIS last stronghold is on the Tigris River directly across from the Nineveh ruins.
Pentagon chief Jim Mattis says that ISIS leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi is alive and that the US is going after him.
The Old Testament book of Nahum may predict the flooding and defeat of ISIS in Mosul. I think that Nahum identifies Al-Baghdad in the following verse. Nahum says that a wicked leader will formally address his troops in Nineveh. Today Nineveh is called Mosul. So a message from Al-Baghdadi to the last remaining ISIS fighters in Mosul would be appropriate. Now the world is waiting to hear from ISIS leader Al-Baghdadi.
Nahum 2:5 He shall recount his worthies: they shall stumble in their walk; they shall make haste to the wall thereof, and the defence shall be prepared.
When I read the first hand accounts from the civilians escaping the Old City neighborhood of western Mosul I knew that Nahum’s prophecy applies today. They said that they stumbled over dead bodies while leaving.
Nahum 3:1-3 Woe to the bloody city! it is all full of lies and robbery; the prey departeth not; 2 The noise of a whip, and the noise of the rattling of the wheels, and of the pransing horses, and of the jumping chariots. 3 The horseman lifteth up both the bright sword and the glittering spear: and there is a multitude of slain, and a great number of carcases; and there is none end of their corpses; they stumble upon their corpses:
The palace of Assyrian King Sennacherib was rediscovered in eastern Mosul in February 2017. Archeologists are eager to excavate the site, but I don’t think that they will ever get the chance. I think that Sennacherib’s palace will be dissolved by a flood of water beforehand.
Nahum 2:6 The gates of the rivers shall be opened, and the palace shall be dissolved.
Because of the near complete devastation of western Mosul the Iraqis are proposing that the Old City neighborhood be abandoned and turned into an archaeological site. I think that western Mosul will also be flooded. In the book of Nahum God says that he will cast abominable filth on Nineveh (or Mosul; Nahum 3:6). I expect the flooding of Mosul to happen soon.

Turkish President Erdogan erects image of a revived Ottoman Empire
Turkish President Erdogan erects image of a revived Ottoman Empire
Image of the beast
By Craig C. White
The end time is marked by the revival of the last world empire. Most Bible teachers identify this world empire as Rome but they overlook the only other world empire to exist since Rome fell. Between 1299-1923 the Turkish ruled Ottoman Empire conquered territory from western Europe to India. There have been other empires but none of them were world empires. To qualify as a “world empire” a nation must rule a contiguous land mass covering multiple quadrants of the old world; namely Europe, Russia, Africa, and western Asia. Turkey is right in the middle of all of these regions. The revival of the Turkish ruled Ottoman Empire marks the end time, and Turkish President Erdogan is ambitiously rebuilding it. To celebrate the one year anniversary of the failed military coup in Turkey, Erdogan has erected a giant statue commemorating the rise again of the Ottoman Empire. He also hinted at reunification of all Islamic nations under Turkish rule. Tek Devlet “One State” the image read. Sounds like the tower of Babylon all over again. Please notice that this statue does not honor the god of Islam but is does honor the god of Turkish military conquest (the god of forces).
Turkish President Erdogan poses with Ottoman era soldiers in front of monument dedicated to a revived Ottoman EmpireDan 11:38 But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces: and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.
The Bible tells us that an image will be made representing the next world empire. Revelation 13:14 seems to suggest that the “False Prophet” will command that this image should be made. Anybody who does not worship the image will be killed. The beast in Revelation 13:15 is the end time world empire. The beast can also describe the ruler of the next world empire. Is Erdogan’s statue the image of the beast mentioned in Revelation? Maybe. Turkish President Erdogan’s pillar certainly qualifies as an image of a revived Ottoman Empire.
Rev 13:15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
Remember when Erdogan gave a speech as a nine foot tall hologram? That also qualifies as an image that represents the ruler of a revived Ottoman Empire. The hologram could also speak. Any way that you slice it, Erdogan is on the move to reestablish a Turkish ruled empire.
So many Christians balk when I identify the Antichrist. They say that nobody can know, and that we shouldn’t be looking for the Antichrist. What a mistake. The Bible gives us a lot of information about the identity and actions of the Antichrist. We ought not neglect its warnings. It is especially important to warn Israel of its coming time of trouble. If we love Israel then we should be concerned about their welfare. It is shameful that this never enters the minds of so many Christians. When asked about the timing of the Rapture and the Tribulation period, the Apostle Paul said that the Antichrist would rise before the Tribulation begins. Recognizing the identity of the Antichrist warns us that the Tribulation on Earth is about to begin. It also warns believers that they are about to meet their Lord and savior.
Turkish President Erdogan is the Antichrist. The Bible tells us that he will invade Hamah and Tell Rifaat in northwestern Syria, destroy Damascus, lead an invasion into northern Israel, invade Egypt by many ships and much more. Erdogan has already promised to do all of these things. It is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed (Rom 13:11) .

Bible prophecy is being fulfilled in Mosul
Bible prophecy is being fulfilled in Mosul
The Prophet Nahum describes the destruction and flooding of Mosul.
By Craig C. White
I am fervently watching events in Mosul. At some point I am expecting Mosul to be destroyed by a flood of water. The ISIS saga seems to be taking a long time to unfold. On Monday July 10, 2017 Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi declared victory over ISIS in Mosul; however fighting has continued this week. Most of the ISIS strongholds have been overrun but there are still a few pockets remaining. ISIS last fighting positions are located on the Tigris River in the Old City neighborhood of western Mosul. The Old City neighborhood has been devastated by the war. Some seven thousand civilians have been killed, with tens of thousands more wounded. Mosul is Iraq’s second largest city with a pre-war population of nearly two million people. Nearly one million residents have been displaced from their homes.
Mosul is built around the ruins of ancient Nineveh. As a matter of fact Iraqis still refer to Mosul as Nineveh. Nineveh was the capital of the Assyrian Empire. The Assyrians were infamous for committing the same sorts of atrocities that ISIS is known for today. The Prophet Nahum calls them vile. The Prophet Nahum predicted the flooding and plundering of Nineveh. Nineveh was flooded by the Tigris River and then set upon by the Babylonians, Medes, and Persians in 612 BC. The city was plundered and burned for two months until almost nothing remained. Today these same nations are fighting against ISIS in Mosul. Nahum predicted the flooding and destruction of Nineveh but his words could apply to the modern day city of Mosul even more.
Let me begin by saying that the Old Testament book of Nahum definitely predicts that Nineveh (or modern day Mosul) will be destroyed by a flood of water. Remember that ancient Nineveh was flooded in 612 BC.
Nahum 1:8 But with an overrunning flood he will make an utter end of the place thereof, and darkness shall pursue his enemies.
Nahum says that the gates of the Tigris River will be opened. Today the Mosul dam is in danger of bursting. If the Mosul dam broke it could sent a seventy five foot tall wave of water over downtown Mosul.
Nahum 2:6 The gates of the rivers shall be opened, and the palace shall be dissolved.
Nahum also says that the palace will be dissolved. Interestingly the palace of Assyrian King Sennacherib has just been rediscovered for the first time since Nineveh flooded in 612 BC. The palace ruins are located in eastern Mosul directly across the Tigris River from the last stronghold of ISIS.
Nahum 2:8 But Nineveh is of old like a pool of water: yet they shall flee away. Stand, stand, shall they cry; but none shall look back.
In the verse above, Nahum is saying that Nineveh will look like a water reservoir for many days. So Nahum definitely describes a flood of water, but Nahum also describes an invading army and the defeat of the Assyrian forces by military combat.
Nahum 3:3 describes Nineveh as being littered with dead bodies. This week Nahum 3:3 has been fulfilled. The Iraqi Army cannot allow the residents of western Mosul to return to their homes because there are so many dead bodies that must be removed. Compare Nahum 3:3 to this quote from this story in the Mirror titled; ISIS’ last stand: How bloody final battle for Mosul took place in tiny 150-yard street strewn with bodies.
“Families described not being able to walk without stepping on a corpse or a body part and were holed up with suicide bombers in the tiny street”
The following verse describes the Assyrian soldiers as they hide from the advancing army. To seek strength means that they will look for a fortified shelter to protect themselves from the battle.
Nahum 3:11 Thou also shalt be drunken: thou shalt be hid, thou also shalt seek strength because of the enemy.
This week many ISIS fighters have been pulled out of tunnels and out from beneath rubble where they were hiding.
The next verse says that their fortified fighting positions will be readily defeated. The Iraqi Army has made steady progress against ISIS in Mosul; pushing them into a small patch of the Old City neighborhood next to the Tigris River.
Nahum 3:12 All thy strong holds shall be like fig trees with the firstripe figs: if they be shaken, they shall even fall into the mouth of the eater.
Yes I think that the book of Nahum predicts the flooding of ISIS in Mosul, but Nahum also describes the Assyrian Army (and perhaps ISIS as well) as they are killed by fire and by sword. These things have happened in Mosul over the past several months.
Nahum 3:14-15 Draw thee waters for the siege, fortify thy strong holds: go into clay, and tread the morter, make strong the brickkiln. 15 There shall the fire devour thee; the sword shall cut thee off, it shall eat thee up like the cankerworm: make thyself many as the cankerworm, make thyself many as the locusts.
In the passage above, Nahum also mentions that ISIS will use bricks to fortify their position. I think that this could be accomplished at their current location next to the Tigris River in western Mosul. This is the last stronghold of ISIS in Mosul. It has also been their headquarters and epicenter for the past three years. ISIS has erected cloth tarps over the city streets in this area in order to hide the view of their activities from the air. If these tarps are removed to reveal brickwork fortifications then expect a flood. Interestingly, ISIS’s final stronghold is located on the west side of the Tigris River directly across from the Nineveh ruins.
Several events that Nahum describes have already happened in Mosul. Here are a few other things that we can expect to see happen soon that would confirm Nahum’s prophecy.
Nahum 1:11 says that a wicked leader will come out of Nineveh. ISIS leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi is thought to have fled Mosul. It is suspected that he is hiding in small ISIS controlled villages west of Mosul.
Nahum 1:11 There is one come out of thee, that imagineth evil against the LORD, a wicked counsellor.
There have been a lot of mixed reports lately about whether or not Al-Baghdadi has been killed. Pentagon chief Jim Mattis said on July 14, 2017 that the US cannot confirm that ISIS leader Al-Baghdadi is dead.
“If we knew, we would tell you — right now, I can’t confirm or deny it,” Mattis said. “Our approach is we assume he’s alive until it’s proven otherwise, and right now I can’t prove it otherwise.”
In the next verse Nahum says that this wicked leader will formally address his troops. So a message from Al-Baghdadi to the last remaining ISIS fighters in Mosul would be appropriate.
Nahum 2:5 He shall recount his worthies: they shall stumble in their walk; they shall make haste to the wall thereof, and the defence shall be prepared.
Nahum 1:10 says that the Assyrians (or perhaps ISIS) will be gathered closely together when they are destroyed. ISIS has been gathered together in western Mosul. In Nahum 1:14 God says that he will punish the people of Nineveh (or Mosul) because they are vile. That certainly describes ISIS. Mosul is Nineveh and ISIS is an attempt at reviving the Assyrian Empire. In Nahum 1:9 God says that “affliction shall not rise up the second time.” meaning that God will not allow the Assyrian Empire to afflict Israel for a second time. Today we can see ISIS being diminished in Syria and northern Iraq. We are seeing Bible prophecy being fulfilled in Mosul. Be on the lookout for more to follow. At some point I am expecting Mosul to be destroyed by a flood of water.
