Residue of a Remnant
Residue of a Remnant
Zechariah 14:2
By Craig C. White
The English Bible uses the word “remnant”. Remnant most interestingly refers to a small part that is left of the whole nation of Israel after God judges them.
One Hebrew word for “remnant” is:
sheh-ay-reeth’
a remainder or residual (surviving, final) portion: – that had escaped, be left, posterity, remain (-der), remnant, residue, rest. Here is “remnant” used in a verse.
2Ch 30:6 So the posts went with the letters from the king and his princes throughout all Israel and Judah, and according to the commandment of the king, saying, Ye children of Israel, turn again unto the LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, and he will return to the remnant of you, that are escaped out of the hand of the kings of Assyria.
This is talking about the Jews who did not get captured by the Assyrian kings around 700 BC. A few Jews were still left in the land of Israel.
There is an even more interesting word used in the English Bible, “Residue”! Residue can mean an even smaller group of people!
yeh’-ther
Properly an overhanging, that is, (by implication) an excess, superiority, remainder; also a small rope (as hanging free): – + abundant, cord, exceeding, excellency (-ent), what they leave, that hath left, plentifully, remnant, residue, rest, string, with. Here is “residue” used in a verse.
Zechariah 14:2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
In the verse above “residue” refers to the few inhabitants of Jerusalem who do not flee but stay behind in the city and are hunkered on Mt. Zion until the end of the Tribulation.
Here are the two words used together in the same verse.
Zephaniah 2:9 Therefore as I live, saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah, even the breeding of nettles, and saltpits, and a perpetual desolation: the residue of my people shall spoil them, and the remnant of my people shall possess them.
In the verse above “the residue of my people” are the people of Judea who have fled into the Jordanian wilderness during the Tribulation. When Jesus returns they will plunder Jordan.
Also in the verse above “the remnant of my people” includes every Jew who has survived the Tribulation!
The residue is only part of the remnant.
The events of the coming seven year Tribulation period crescendo into a pinnacle of trial for the nation of Israel, and also into a moment in time when the trials are over and redemption comes to Israel at last and forever. Jesus Christ will return to save Israel from its enemies.
At the epicenter of this moment between trouble and salvation sits a small band of Jews waiting for their redeemer on Mt. Zion in Jerusalem. They are the last Jews in Jerusalem. They are the residue of Jerusalem in Zechariah 14:2.
You probably haven’t thought about it much but understanding that moment in time when the residue of Jerusalem is rescued by Jesus Christ will illuminate much of what Jesus said in the Gospels.
In the English Bible several Hebrew words are translated as “remnant” and “residue”. Sometimes the English word for remnant and residue are the same Hebrew word.
Very interesting to read and hard to stop. – Alexandria

U.S. bombs Syria but Turkey will destroy Damascus!
U.S. bombs Syria but Turkey will destroy Damascus!
“President Trump stressed the need to intensify cooperation with Turkey with respect to shared strategic challenges in Syria.”
By Craig C. White
Wow what a week! First there was an alleged chemical attack in Douma, a northeastern suburb of Damascus. Nobody knows if it really was a chemical attack or who did it. But this is being used to condone counter attacks by the U.S. and Turkey. Just a reminder, the so called innocent civilians in Ghouta and Douma are Al-Qaeda fighters and their families who have been shelling Damascus for months. Now that the Syrian Army has begun fighting back these Al-Qaeda fighters are being relocated to Idlib. Some 8,000 more Al-Qaeda fighters from Douma are being relocated to Idlib. I estimate that there are currently over 100,000 Turkish, Free Syrian Army, and Al-Qaeda fighters in Idlib. In Idlib they are certain to begin fighting against the Syrian Army in Hamah. That is what Jeremiah 49:23 predicts.
Then there was an airstrike on a Syrian military base that was home to an Iranian air-force headquarters. Of course Syria, Iran and Russia blame Israel. It is most likely true that Israel bombed the Iranian headquarters. Israel has been steadfast in saying that they will not tolerate Iran gaining a foothold in Syria. Israel is on its highest alert on its northern border with Syria. Iran has threatened to retaliate after the airstrike on the Iranian airbase in Syria. The airstrike will most likely heat up things on the Golan Heights between Israel and Syrian and Iranian forces.
Folks, a similar scenario took place in 734 BC. The Bible tells us all about it. Israel asked Assyria for help to fight against Syria. After Assyria conquered Syria then they invaded northern Israel. This is going to happen again. Today Israel needs help in order to prevent an all out Middle East war. Jeremiah describes the invasion of northwestern Syria and the destruction of Damascus. Today Turkey has invaded northwestern Syria. Turkish President Erdogan said that Turkey will not stop until Syrian President Assad is removed from power in Damascus. Ezekiel chapter 38 describes a Turkish led invasion into Israel. Every nation that is listed in Ezekiel 38:5 is now fighting in Syria. I wonder if Israel will ask Turkey for help to fight Syria on the Golan Heights?
Last but not least, The U.S., Britain, and France conducted airstrikes in Syria. The latest news is that they targeted chemical weapons related facilities in a Syrian airbase in Homs. I have heard that some sites in and around Damascus, Syria’s capital may also be targets. We won’t know the extent of the bombing until the dust clears. In U.S. President Trump’s address to the nation he said that the U.S. would not stay in Syria but that he was strengthening partnerships with Middle Eastern allies. President Trump recently said that it was important to cooperate with Turkey in order to achieve U.S. objectives in Syria. In his national address Trump didn’t mention Turkey by name but Turkey is the only U.S. ally who has a strong military presence inside of Syria. Turkey also has the will to remove Syrian President Assad from power in Damascus. Jeremiah 49:23-27 describes the Turkish conquest of northwestern Syria and the destruction of Damascus.
Here is a small observation. Russia moved their naval vessels out of harms way before the attack on Syria. During the attack Russia didn’t shoot at any advancing war planes. This ought to tell you that Russia is not willing to stick their necks out for Syrian President Assad. On that note, neither will Russia lead the Islamic nations into Israel. I’m talking about the Ezekiel chapter 38 battle of Gog and Magog. The idea that Russia is Gog and Magog is a popular misconception. Gog is Turkey and Magog is its ruler. After Turkey destroys Damascus they will lead the forces that are now fighting in Syria into northern Israel.
The bombing of Syria isn’t the beginning of World War III but it may be a catalyst to finally mobilize the Turkish Army against the Syrian Army in Hamah and in Tell Rifaat just as Jeremiah 49:23 predicts. We may be seeing the beginning of one of the widest known prophecies in the Bible; namely the destruction of Damascus.
I have got news for Christians today. The Church age is almost over. The Tribulation period is about to begin. If you want to have any hope of escaping the terrible things that are coming upon the earth then you only have a few months to make your salvation certain.

The nations are disquieted over Syria
The nations are disquieted over Syria
verse by verse through Jeremiah 49:23-27
By Craig C. White
The U.S. is bombing Syria but Turkey will destroy Damascus!
“President Trump stressed the need to intensify cooperation with Turkey with respect to shared strategic challenges in Syria.”
The Prophet Jeremiah asks the question “How is Damascus not there?”. Damascus is the oldest continually inhabited city in the world. One day it will no longer exist.
Jeremiah 49:23 Concerning Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad: for they have heard evil tidings: they are fainthearted; there is sorrow on the sea; it cannot be quiet.
What is Jeremiah telling us? Obviously this prophecy is concerning Damascus, Syria. In the verse above, Jeremiah mentions two cities. Hamath and Arpad (or modern day Tell Rifaat) are both located in northwestern Syria near the Turkish border. Today Hamah is Syria’s fifth largest city.. Hamah is further south but still close to the Turkish border. Arpad is modern day Tell Rifaat located about 25 miles north of Aleppo and about 20 miles south of the Turkish border. These cities are located along the path of an invasion launched from Turkey headed towards Damascus.
According to Jeremiah 49:23 the people of northwestern Syria will hear intelligence reports that the Turkish army is about to invade Syria. The army’s target is Damascus and they are coming through their cities! The people of northwestern Syria are terrified. Their hearts faint with fear
There is sorrow on the sea; it cannot be quiet. The sea in Bible prophecy can refer to the Mediterranean Sea when it is accompanied with the definite article “the”. The sea can also refer to the nations. There is no article used here in the original Hebrew. I think that Jeremiah is saying that the nations will have great anxiety over the coming Turkish invasion into Syria. The Hebrew word translated sorrow means anxiety, fearfulness, carefulness, or heaviness.
So the nations will be very nervous concerning the coming Turkish invasion into Syria. The Turkish army’s goal is the destruction of Damascus. The English says it well here. The nations will not be able to be still. The Hebrew word translated quiet is defined below. The nations of the world will not be able to be at rest. They are already feeling uneasy concerning Syria.
quiet – shâqat, shaw-kat’
A primitive root; to repose (usually figuratively): – appease, idleness, (at, be at, be in, give) quiet (-ness), (be at, be in, give, have, take) rest, settle, be still.
Jeremiah 49:24 Damascus is waxed feeble, and turneth herself to flee, and fear hath seized on her: anguish and sorrows have taken her, as a woman in travail.
Damascus is waxed feeble. This is the idea of failing in your old age. Damascus is about to die. Damascus turneth herself to flee. This could refer to the city preparing to relinquish its life and it could also refer to the cities inhabitants as they attempt to escape.
The Hebrew word translated fear means to tremble with terror. Anguish and sorrows have taken her, as a woman in travail; literally Damascus is feeling a localized tightness like a woman about to give birth.
Jeremiah 49:25 How is the city of praise not left, the city of my joy!
Two different Hebrew words for city are used in the verse above. The city of praise is a fortified city that has been celebrated in song. When God says “how is the city not left” he could be communicating his astonishment that even after a terrible assault on Damascus, the city has still not surrendered. When God calls Damascus “the city of my joy!” he is specifically saying that he delights in the cities old buildings. So we are looking for the destruction of the old part of the city. The neighborhood of “Old Damascus” is the capital of Syria. Damascus is the oldest continually inhabited city on earth. It was founded by the Aramaeans over four thousand years ago, and was inhabited two thousand years before that. Damascus is a living depiction of human history.
Jeremiah 49:26 Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all the men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the LORD of hosts.
In this verse the young men are contrasted to the men of war. The men of war obviously represent the Syrian Army. Lately Syrian citizens have joined Assad and the Syrian Army to help defend their country. The Syrian National Defense Force is a newly formed civilian guard. I think that the Syrian National Defense Force could be represented by the young men in this verse.
It sounds like the young men of Damascus will stay behind to defend the city. Perhaps they will be the first line of defense. The young men of Damascus will die in its streets. The Syrian Army will be bunkered in Damascus. When God says that all the men of war shall be cut off he means that every Syrian soldier will die defending Damascus.. Jeremiah isn’t necessarily saying that this assault on Damascus will last only one day. That day refers to the entire duration be it one day or longer.
Jeremiah 49:27 And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall consume the palaces of Benhadad.
The phrase “kindle a fire” leads many to imagine a nuclear explosion but that is not what is pictured here. The terminology “kindle a fire” is used in several other Bible passages. The terminology “kindle a fire” mean that God will send an army against a city or a nation. I think that God will send the Turkish army against Damascus.
Many so called Bible scholars claim that the destruction of Damascus has already taken place. They say that the Assyrian conquest of Damascus in 734 BC fulfills the Damascus prophecy. Well Damascus was conquered by Assyria in 734 BC and several cities around Damascus were burned with fire but Damascus has never been completely destroyed.
Jeremiah was a prophet around 600 BC. Jeremiah gave his prophecy one hundred years after Assyria conquered Damascus. So the Assyrian conquest of Damascus can not possibly fulfill Jeremiah’s prophecy. The Assyrians conquered Damascus in 734 BC. I think that Jeremiah is prophesying about an invasion of Damascus that is forming now.
In Jeremiah 49:27, The palaces of Benhadad refer to the ancient thrones of Syrian Kings in Damascus. Like the ancient invasion, this future invasion will also destroy Syria’s seat of government in the neighborhood of Old Damascus.
So the Turkish army will march down from Syria’s northwestern border terrorizing cities along the way. Their goal is the destruction of Damascus. The nations of the world will be in a tumult. They will not be able to calm down. Damascus will prepare to die. The people will flee and the young men and army will fight to the death never surrendering. The oldest city on earth will be destroyed along with its historical buildings. Jeremiah describes a city under siege not a city obliterated by a single bomb.

Turkey and Russia agree about Syria
Turkey and Russia agree about Syria
Turkey will attack Hamah and Tell Rifaat then Damascus then Israel
By Craig C. White
Not too long ago all of my Bible prophecy buddies were saying that if Turkey entered Syria they would start World War III, dragging NATO and the US into war with Russia. I told them that the Bible didn’t describe that scenario. The Prophet Jeremiah predicts that Turkey will attack the northwestern Syria cities of Hamah and Tell Rifaat, then the residents of Damascus will flee and Damascus will be destroyed. I said that Turkey and Russia would make a deal and Turkey would be able to make war in Syria unabated by Russia. Now it seems that Turkey and Russia are on the same side in Syria. Russia and Iran have just given Turkey permission to place 25,000 troops in Idlib, Syria. That’s a lot. Idlib is located just a few miles from Hamah. Turkish supported Al-Qaeda groups headquartered in Idlib have been fighting against the Syrian Army in and around Hamah for years.
Jeremiah 49:23 Concerning Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad: for they have heard evil tidings: they are fainthearted; there is sorrow on the sea; it cannot be quiet.
In the previous verse Arpad is the modern day city of Tell Rifaat. The Turkish Army is already amassed in Azaz ready to attack Tell Rifaat. Now the Turkish Army is heading for Idlib near Hamah. One week ago Turkey said that they were going to Idlib in order to police Al-Qaeda forces there, but now they have signed cease fire agreements with Al-Qaeda. Turkey is now determined to fight against the Kurds in Hamah. That may be a surprise to some of my Bible prophecy buddies but it is no surprise to me. I told you about this six years ago. Jeremiah told you about this 2,500 years ago. It is High Time to Awake!

Christians are being LEFT BEHIND!!!
Christians are being LEFT BEHIND!!!
I wonder if they will be left behind
By Craig C. White
Are you being left behind? Most Christians today are. When I say “left behind” you probably think about being left behind on Earth after Jesus Christ returns for his Church. That’s a possibility, but I am talking about being left behind in your understanding of end time events that are happening right now. We can see several end time events that the Bible has predicted happening right now and that are just about to happen. It is actually pretty easy to spot these events if you understand Bible prophecy, and if you know a little bit about world history, plus a little geography. I am guessing that most Christians today haven’t got a grasp on any of these subjects. I am here to tell you that time is running out for you to start learning. Sorry for the harsh words but it’s my job to afflict the comfortable.
2Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
Guess what? Turkey is about to attack Hamah and Tell Rifaat in northwestern Syria just like Jeremiah 49:23 predicts. After that Turkey will destroy Damascus (Isaiah 17:1, Jeremiah 49:23-27) and then lead the forces that are fighting in Syria today into the Golan Heights of Israel (Eze 38). Very few people can see these events coming, but they are as plain as can be. Most Christians are stuck looking at the stars, or accusing the Pope of being the Antichrist, or insisting that Russia is Magog, the end time invader of Israel. Nope; you can stop looking up and begin looking around you. Turkish President Erdogan is the Antichrist. Turkey is the end time invader of Israel mentioned in Ezekiel chapter 38 and they are about to pounce. While talking about Syria, Turkish President Erdogan has said repeatedly that the Turkish Army could come one night unexpectedly and all at once.
Did you know that ISIS leader Al-Baghdadi recently recorded a message to his troops? Did you know that his message is mentioned in Nahum 2:5? Will you know that when Jesus asks you about it? The northern Iraq city of Mosul is the hometown of Al-Baghdadi and of ISIS. Modern day Mosul is built around the ruins of the ancient Assyrian capital city of Nineveh. Nineveh is mentioned in the Bible. A lot of Bible prophecy that was written about Nineveh has already been fulfilled in Mosul. Some very dramatic events are still yet to come.
Are you keeping up or are you falling behind? I am seeing Christians drifting further and further away from a true understanding of end time biblical predictions. I wonder how far away they will be by the time that Jesus Christ returns? Will they allow themselves to fall so far behind that Jesus will actually leave them behind? You don’t think that that could happen?
Here are the warnings that Jesus gave to the Churches in Revelation. He is saying that when he comes, Christians had better be prepared or there will be consequences.
Rev 2:5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
Rev 2:16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
Rev 3:3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
Rev 3:11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.
Rev 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
Jesus concludes his warning to the Churches with this statement.
Rev 3:22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
This message is for every Church age believer.
The truth of God’s word is being proven in world events. The stars aren’t enlightening anybody. The truth is clear to see. End time events are happening now. You don’t need a telescope. You don’t have to guess. Bible prophecy is happening as plain as day. Just read the scriptures, open your eyes and see. Jesus Christ is coming back really soon! Don’t allow yourself to be left behind. It’s High Time to Awake because our salvation is nearer than when we believed (Rom 13:11).

2Thessalonians 2:1-17

It turns out that 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 is not about the apostasy of the Church or the removal of the Holy Spirit from the earth during the Tribulation period. It is about looking to the Old Testament prophets in order to recognize end time events!
Throughout history Israel has suffered at the hands of every ancient world empire. Israel will once again suffer at the hands of the next world empire. There is a terrible time of persecution coming upon Israel and most terribly upon Jerusalem. During this seven year period God will also pour out his wrath upon the entire world. This is called the Tribulation period. The Apostle Paul has promised Church age believers that they would escape this terrible time of God’s wrath on earth by being taken up into heaven. This event is called the Rapture.
1Th 5:9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
Ever since Jesus’ resurrection, believers in Christ have been saved from the penalty of sin which is death and hell. Christians will also be saved from the coming period of God’s wrath on earth.
Rom 5:7-10 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
Early Church members in the Grecian city of Thessalonica saw the persecution of Jews and Christians under the Roman Empire and wondered if this terrible time of trouble was coming upon them? They thought that the Tribulation was beginning and wondered why the Rapture hadn’t happened yet. Paul told the Thessalonians that the Tribulation was not about to happen because two Old Testament prophecies had not yet been fulfilled! Paul told them that Satan must fall from heaven to earth and that the Antichrist must be revealed before the Tribulation period on earth began.
2Th 2:1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
The verse above describes the Resurrection of Christians and the Rapture of the Church.
The verse below describes the day of Christ. The day of Christ is the terrible period of Tribulation on earth.
2Th 2:2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
Evidently there were some rumors circulating around the Thessalonian believers that the Tribulation was beginning. The Rapture was designed to save Christians from a terrible time of trouble on earth. So it follows that the Rapture must happen before the Tribulation begins. The Thessalonians were wondering why the Rapture had not yet happened. The Apostle Paul identifies two Old Testament prophetic events that help us to recognize the the arrival of the Tribulation. They are the falling of Satan from heaven to earth and the revealing of the Antichrist as he sits in the temple at Jerusalem.
2Th 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition.
Paul is not revealing new prophetic information here. He is reminding us about the prophecies of Isaiah (Isa 14:12) and Daniel (Dan 9:27). In verse 3 above, what is a falling away? Some teach that this references a worldwide “apostasy”; in other words “a turning away from God”. While there will be a major corrupting of world religion during the end time, I don’t think that it is referenced here. First the Bible teaches that none seek after God (Psa 14:1-3, Psa 53:2, Rom 3:10-18), and that no nation follows after him. So the world is already “fallen away” from God. However I do admit that things will get worse.
Second let’s take a look at the word and in the phrase “and that man of sin be revealed”. The word and usually means even, so, or then and sometimes means also or too. In our case the word and means then. So, a falling away and that man of sin be revealed are not two accumulative events. Instead, the second event relies on the first. The second event can only happen because the first event happened. A falling away happens then the man of sin is revealed.
God’s wrath won’t be poured out on earth until the man of sin is revealed. The man of sin can only be revealed because something or someone first falls away.
It is the same case in the phrase “the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him” in 2Thessalonians 2:1. In this case “and” also means “then”.
Jesus Christ comes; then because Jesus Christ came the Church will be gathered together to him. Jesus is able to gather us together only because first he comes to earth. The second event can only happen because the first event happened.
We still haven’t defined a falling away. Let’s look at the surrounding statements. Verses 3 & 4 are jam-packed with descriptions of the man of sin.
2Th 2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
Obviously verses 3 & 4 are describing the Antichrist. The Antichrist is a wicked man that is empowered by Satan. The Antichrist will invade Israel and sit in the temple at Jerusalem. He will then preside over the persecution of Israel during the Great Tribulation period.
So the Antichrist will sit in the temple before the day of God’s wrath on earth or at least before Israel’s great tribulation. Early Church members could recognize that this event hadn’t happened yet. So the time of great tribulation in Jerusalem had not yet come.
I don’t think that the Church will see the Antichrist as he sits in the temple but I am certain that the Church will see the Antichrist. The Antichrist will do many other identifiable things before he sits in the temple in Jerusalem.
In Matthew 24:43 the inhabitants of Judea are instructed to look for the Antichrist as he approaches. So the Antichrist will be identifiable before he sits in the temple at Jerusalem. I tell you that the Antichrist is already identifiable today! He is Turkish President Erdogan.
2Th 2:5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
I am certain that Paul had previously taught the church members in Thessalonica about the prophecies in Isaiah (Isa 14:12) and Daniel (Dan 9:27) that help to identify the Tribulation period. Jesus also explained these events in the gospels (Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 17&21).
2Th 2:6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.
The word withholdeth means to hold fast or stay. To stay means to prevent, to come first, or to delay.
Seeing the Antichrist sitting in the temple is the event that comes before or delays the Great Tribulation. But the term “a falling away” is describing the event that is delaying the revealing of the Antichrist. So the stay (or delay) of a falling away is preventing the Antichrist from being revealed. Satan’s fall precedes the revealing of the Antichrist!
2Th 2:7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
The mystery of iniquity is simply the working of wickedness in the world. Specifically it is the working of Satan’s plan to make himself God of this world. Every past world empire has been configured by Satan. There is one more world empire coming. World empires are Satan’s attempt to make himself the god of this world. Things will get much worse when the Antichrist is revealed. The identity of the word he is in question here. Whoever he is, prevents (or delays) the Antichrist from being revealed until he is taken out of the way. Most Christians read this verse and immediately think that the word he refers to the Holy Spirit taken away in the raptured Church. I don’t think so. The word he is still referring to someone who has yet to have a falling away! The words letteth and let are the same word as withholdeth in verse 6. The word taken can also be translated as “fall”. So he prevents the Antichrist from being revealed until he falls!!! The Holy Spirit is not taken out of the way before the Antichrist can be revealed. The Holy Spirit is not taken out of the way at all. People are saved during the Tribulation period (Rev 7:9-14), and their spirits are in heaven! Jesus said that the Holy Spirit is active in the salvation of a person. So the Holy Spirit is active on earth during the Tribulation period.
Joh 3:5 “Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God”.
2Th 2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
So after he falls, the Antichrist will be revealed. Jesus will kill the Antichrist when he returns to the earth at the end of the seven year Tribulation period. This is not to be confused with Jesus’ coming in the air to gather his Church before or perhaps early during the Tribulation period (which is described in verse 1 at the top of our study).
2Th 2:9-10 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
This verse is still talking about the Antichrist. However another person is mentioned. That is Satan. BINGO! We finally have the last piece of our puzzle! The identity of he is Satan. The phrase “a falling away” in 2Th 2:3 is describing Satan’s fall out of heaven. So Satan will fall from heaven then the Antichrist will be revealed on earth!
In 2Th 2:3 the original Greek word for “falling away” is “apostasia”. Apostasia means to divorce, or to move something away in order to disassociate from it. In our case Satan is moved away from heaven because he has no place there anymore. The Antichrist is a man who is empowered by Satan after Satan falls to earth. Did you know that there will be a war in heaven and God will throw Satan out?
Rev 12:7-12 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, 8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. 9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. 10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. 12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.
When the devil is cast out of heaven he will empower the Antichrist to do false miracles and deceive all who have rejected God.
Do you mean that Satan can enter heaven? Yep he can now, but soon he will be thrown out for good. He will be thrown to earth. That’s why we need to be warned to look out for the man that Satan will empower! Today Satan travels between heaven and earth. He also accuses believers of committing sin. Job chapter 2 illustrates Satan’s travels between heaven and earth.
Job 2:1-2 Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD. 2 And the LORD said unto Satan, From whence comest thou? And Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
There are two events that must happen before Jerusalem is overrun by its enemies. These two events are the fall of Satan from heaven to earth and the Antichrist sitting in the temple at Jerusalem.
The revealing of the Antichrist on earth is the sign of the Tribulation. I think that there is already definite evidence of who the Antichrist is and present day circumstances exist that will allow his rise to infamy.
Church age believers in Jesus Christ will not suffer through the Tribulation period on earth. As Christians we are looking forward to Jesus Christ coming in the air to raise the dead and catch up the living into heaven! Alleluia!!!
2Th 2:11-12 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
Because people have rejected God’s love for them, and have rejected God’s son sent to die for them (Joh 3:16), God will send them strong delusion. The word delusion means “a straying from orthodoxy or piety”. All people who have rejected the truth of salvation by Jesus’ blood will be persuaded of their own righteousness by another way. This of course is true of all false religions; but it reminds me of the Emerging Church and also of the Unity movement being spearheaded by the Pope. The Emerging Church is an all-inclusive so called “Christian” movement that contains eastern philosophy and ritual; including yoga, meditation, and contemplative prayer as a means to personal holiness. It denounces Bible teaching, and is being promoted by some of your favorite “Christian” leaders. Even without the influence of the miracle working Antichrist, most people I know are eagerly awaiting this kind of religion (including most pastors). The fact that the Emerging Church and the Unity movement are on the move persuades me to think that Satan’s fall and the exposing of the Antichrist is imminent. Don’t allow yourself to be deceived!
2Th 2:13-14 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: 14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I hope you believe the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ’s blood shed for you.
Mat 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
1Jn 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
2Th 2:15-17 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle. 16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, 17 Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.
In verse 15 above, the Apostle Paul instructs the believers in Thessalonica to “hold the traditions which ye have been taught”. Paul is referencing the Old Testament prophets Isaiah and Daniel to help identify two events that happen during the Tribulation; the fall of Satan from heaven and the revealing of the Antichrist as he sits in the temple in Jerusalem. The first day of Jerusalem’s Great Tribulation will be marked by the Antichrist sitting in the temple in Jerusalem (Mat 24:21).
Most Bible teachers think that the Great Tribulation begins three and one half years into the seven year Tribulation period. Christians living during the Church age can be assured that they will not suffer through the time of the God’s wrath on earth. Most Bible teachers also say that the seven year Tribulation period begins with the signing of a seven year term security agreement between the Antichrist, Israel, and perhaps other world powers (Dan 9:27). Will Church age believers be on earth to see the signing of this treaty during the first days of the seven year Tribulation period? I don’t know.
The world is prepared for the Antichrist. Christians should be prepared for the day of Christ. We must look to the Old Testament prophets in order to recognize prophetic end time events that are increasingly happening today. Each one of us must make certain that we possess a sure and steadfast faith in the salvation of soul and body that Jesus has wrought. We must also be prepared so that we are not deceived by the offer of an unorthodox way to reconciliation with God that a false religion will soon tender (2Th 2:11-12).
Mat 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
The following verses were written to Jewish believers. They also apply to all believers in Jesus Christ especially those living in present day.
Heb 10:23-25 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) 24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
Now let me see if I have this straight. Jesus will return in the air then Church age believers will be resurrected from the dead and taken into heaven. Satan will be thrown out of heaven and fall to earth then the Antichrist will be revealed. Israel should know that the Great Tribulation will not begin until the man of sin (or the Antichrist) sits in the temple in Jerusalem. Wow, I probably should have said that in the first place. Amen.

The year 2017 is certain to bring several significant Bible prophecies to fruition. This is a serious course of events. A terrible time of trouble for Israel is about to begin. God’s judgement is also about to come upon the entire world. The Resurrection and Rapture of Church age believers must be near. It looks like end time Bible prophecy will begin in earnest this year! The last days before the seven year Tribulation period are here. There are only a few key events left to happen before this terrible time of trouble begins.
What is the order of these few remaining end time events? Ancient Bible history gives us a model for future events. The Assyrian kings conquered Syria and then invaded northern Israel. The Antichrist will do these same two things in that same order. It looks like that the Antichrist will come from Turkey! Jeremiah 49:23-27 describes Turkey as they invade Syria and destroy Damascus. Ezekiel chapter 38 describes a failed Turkish led invasion into Israel. A failed invasion into Israel would necessitate a peace treaty. Daniel 9:27 tells us about a seven year term treaty that the Antichrist will make regarding Israel. This treaty marks the beginning of the seven year Tribulation period! Turkish President Erdogan is the Antichrist. He will destroy Damascus soon and then lead the forces that are now fighting in Syria into the Golan Heights of northern Israel. Afterward he will make an agreement with Israel that will begin the Tribulation.
There is another end time event that appears to be forming now. That is the flooding and destruction of Mosul in northern Iraq. The Prophet Nahum predicted the flooding of ancient Nineveh. Today Nineveh is Mosul in northern Iraq. Nahum may also have predicted the flooding of ISIS in Mosul. The flooding of Mosul may be the one end time sign given to Israel that Jesus Christ is truly their Messiah. It may be the one and only sign that Israel’s time of trouble is near.
All of these events are ripe to happen. Don’t be caught unaware. Tell others! Be prepared to meet Jesus Christ. It is High Time to Awake.

2017 is poised to bring Bible prophecy to pass. We are all very close to the Resurrection, Rapture, and the Tribulation. Read my book 2017 The Year of Fulfillment before you meet Jesus.

Turkey to attack Manbij and Tell Rifaat next. Syrian tanks on the Golan Heights. U.S. to leave Syria.
Turkey to attack Manbij and Tell Rifaat next. Syrian tanks on the Golan Heights. U.S. to leave Syria.
This week in Bible prophecy – April 7, 2018
By Craig C. White
I’ve been telling people about the Turkish conquest of northern Syria and the subsequent destruction of Damascus for seven years now. After Turkey destroys Damascus they will then lead the forces that are now fighting in Syria into northern Israel. This week that scenario is taking it’s final form on several fronts.
This week the Syrian war was on hold while Turkey, Russia, and Iran met in Turkey’s capital city of Ankara. After the Syria meeting Turkey announced that they plan to attack Manbij and Tell Rifaat next. Manbij and Tell Rifaat are the last two areas that are controlled by the Kurds west of the Euphrates River in northwestern Syria. There were reports that Turkey had already taken control of Tell Rifaat but they turned out to be rumors.
The Syrian Army is still bombing the Al-Qaeda held neighborhood of eastern Ghouta located to the northeast of Damascus. Ghouta is the last rebel held suburb of Damascus. Tens of thousands of Al-Qaeda rebels and their families have already been relocated to the Al-Qaeda held Idlib province to the north. The Idlib province is located next to the Hamah province. The Syrian Army controls Hamah and is fighting against Al-Qaeda there. Al-Qaeda in Idlib have now been reinforced with the influx of tens of thousands more Al-Qaeda rebels from Ghouta.
In accordance with the Turkey, Russia, and Iran conference, Turkey is being allowed to continue importing Turkish troops into Idlib. Turkey has been amassing troops in Idilb over the past few months. Turkey is supposed to be suppressing the Al-Qaeda forces in Idlib but have yet to do so. The notion that Turkey would fight against Al-Qaeda is preposterous since Turkey has been the chief supporter of Al-Qaeda in Syria for the past seven years. Turkey continues to allow foreign Al-Qaeda fighters to enter Syria through Turkey’s southern border. The Al-Qaeda comprised Free Syrian Army has been Turkey’s closest fighting partners and proxy force in Syria.
With the build-up of Turkish and Al-Qaeda troops in Idlib we should expect a major offensive to begin between the Turkish supported troops in Idlib and the Syrian Army in Hamah.
Hamah and Tell Rifaat are identified in Jeremiah 49:23. According to Jeremiah, after these cities hear evil reports then the residents of Damascus will flee and Damascus will be destroyed.
Jeremiah 49:23 Concerning Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad: for they have heard evil tidings: they are fainthearted; there is sorrow on the sea; it cannot be quiet.
Expect to hear reports about a Turkish led assault on Syrian forces in Hamah in conjunction with reports about the Turkish attack on Tell Rifaat.
Also this week Syria has placed several tanks in the demilitarized zone of the Golan Heights in order to fight against Al-Qaeda there. Israel is understandably concerned. Israel is also concerned that U.S. President Trump has announced plans for the U.S. to withdraw troops from Syria. The U.S. has less than two thousand soldiers in Syria. They have been directing Kurdish forces in the fight against ISIS. President Trump says that the mission to destroy ISIS in Syria is nearly complete. In recent weeks however, while the Kurds have been drawn into a fight with Turkey they have not been able to fight against ISIS. ISIS has begun making a come back in northern Syria and in northern Iraq.
With Syrian and Iranian forces near Israel’s northern border and with U.S. forces on their way out of Syria this leads me to ask, will Israel ask Turkey for help to fight Syria on the Golan Heights? A similar scenario took place in 734 BC. Israel asked Assyria to help fight Syria. After Assyria conquered Damascus then they invaded northern Israel. This is described in the Bible. This is why the Antichrist is likened to the ancient Assyrian Kings.
By the way, I think that Jesus is coming back when Turkey reaches northern Israel. I thought that you might want to know.

I wonder if Israel will ask Turkey for help to fight Syria in the Golan Heights?
I wonder if Israel will ask Turkey for help to fight Syria in the Golan Heights?
By Craig C. White
Things are heating up between Israel and Syrian forces. Several military strikes have been exchanged on the Golan Heights.
History may be repeating itself concerning Israel. Around 740 BC Syria made war against Israel’s southern kingdom of Judah. Ahaz the king of Judah asked Assyria for help. Assyria attacked Syria and conquered Damascus. A few years latter Assyria attacked northern Israel. All of this is recorded in 2Kings 16-17.
Here is a list of actors in this historic drama from the northern most kingdom southward. During this time the land of Israel was divided into two kingdoms; Israel to the north and Judah to the south.
Tiglathpileser king of Assyria
Rezin king of Syria
Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel
Ahaz king of Judah2Kings 16:5 Then Rezin king of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to war: and they besieged Ahaz, but could not overcome him.
2Kings 16:7 So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglathpileser king of Assyria, saying, I am thy servant and thy son: come up, and save me out of the hand of the king of Syria, and out of the hand of the king of Israel, which rise up against me.
2Kings 16:9 And the king of Assyria hearkened unto him: for the king of Assyria went up against Damascus, and took it, and carried the people of it captive to Kir, and slew Rezin.
Just a few years later Assyria attacked northern Israel. By this time Shalmaneser was king of Assyria.
2Kings 17:5 Then the king of Assyria came up throughout all the land, and went up to Samaria, and besieged it three years.
While 2Kings 16-17 are not viewed as prophetic verses, a similar scenario is presenting itself today. Today Syria and Israel are fighting in the Golan Heights. Could it be that Israel will ask another far northern kingdom for help against Syria?
Jeremiah 49:23-27 describes an end time invasion into Syria coming from the Turkish border. Afterwards Damascus is destroyed.
Ezekiel chapter 38 describes a Turkish led invasion into Israel that seems to parallel the Assyrian invasion into northern Israel in 734 BC. Every nation that is listed in Ezekiel chapter 38 is now fighting in Syria.
I wonder if Israel will ask Turkey for help to fight Syria in the Golan Heights? I am already certain that the Turkish Army will invade Syria in force and destroy Damascus. I am also certain that Turkey will lead an invasion into Israel. In the Bible the Antichrist is compared to the ancient Assyrian kings. That’s because the Antichrist will do the same things that the Assyrian kings did. He will invade Syria, conquer Damascus, and then invade northern Israel. That is only the beginning. I am convinced that Turkey President Erdogan is the modern day fulfillment of “the Assyrian”.

The beginning of sorrows happen during the first half of the 7 year Tribulation period
The beginning of sorrows happen during the first half of the 7 year Tribulation period
The beginning of sorrows are the signs of Israel’s Great Tribulation not signs of the Rapture.
Matthew 24
By Craig C. White
Many Bible teachers say that there will be earthquakes and wars before Jesus Christ returns for his Church. They say that these signs are the beginning of sorrows mentioned in Matthew 24:8. Well hold on just a minute. Are these signs meant for the Church or are these signs meant for the nation of Israel?
In Matthew 24 Jesus is asked the question “what shall be the sign of thy coming?” Which coming is he describing? Is he describing his coming to gather Church age believers, or is he describing the period before he comes to rescue the nation of Israel and set up his throne in Jerusalem?
Matthew 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
First it is important to understand who Jesus is talking to. He is talking to his disciples. It is important to note that they are all Jewish. They are all looking forward to God establishing his kingdom on earth. It is also important to note when the message was given. It was given by Jesus before his death, and before the gospel was preached to the gentile nations. This message was given before the Church was established.
Then it is important to carefully examine the message itself. Are there clues to which group of people Jesus is prophesying about? Yes, there are very clear indications that Jesus is prophesying about the trails of the Jewish people during the Tribulation period. As a matter of fact Matthew 24:21 is the verse where we get the term great tribulation. So Matthew 24 should not be used to illustrate the signs of the Rapture of the Church. Also Matthew 24 should not be used to prove that the Church will participate in the Tribulation period.
The gospels are very important since they record Jesus Christ’s genealogy, standards of righteousness, forgiveness of sin, miracles, fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy, and Christ’s death as payment for the worlds’ sin. The message of the four gospels is to be understood by Church age believers. We should also understand that most of Jesus’ teaching, parables, and prophecy are specifically directed to the nation of Israel. Jesus was sent especially to seek and to save the lost sheep of Israel.
Mat 10:5-6 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: 6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Mat 15:24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
It is sometimes difficult to know who is being addressed in the New Testament. Is Jesus talking about the nation of Israel or is he talking about the Church? A rule of thumb is that Jesus was sent to the Jews first and primarily. The gospel of the coming kingdom of God was preached first to the Jews and then to the Gentiles. Jesus primarily taught the nation of Israel. The four gospels were written about Jesus’ life and ministry. They primarily address the nation of Israel. Of course, there is plenty of teaching to be absorbed by Church age believers. The disciples taught the Jews first and then the other nations. The Gospels typically address Israel. The epistles (or letters) to the Churches were written specifically to Church age believers!
Act 26:20 But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.
Let’s take a quick look at Matthew 24. I know that preachers and prophecy buffs like to identify natural disasters as signs of Jesus’ return for his Church, but these signs were provided for the nation of Israel during the first half of the seven year Tribulation period. They are signs that happen before Israel’s time of trouble. They happen well before Jesus Christ’s second coming to defeat Israel’s enemies and to set up his throne in Jerusalem.
Matthew 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. 6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
So who is Jesus talking about? As we will see, “the beginning of sorrows” in verse 8 above are not signs that Church age believers should be on the lookout for, instead, they are events that will happen during the first half of the Tribulation period. Jesus is talking to and about the nation of Israel here. In verse 9 below, Jesus tells his Jewish disciples that “ye shall be hated of all nations”. The word translated “nations” is the Greek word “ethnos”. It is often translated as “gentile”. Ethnos refers to non-Jewish nations. It doesn’t refer to all nations in the world. It refers to all families or people groups. In practical terms it refers to the old world nations that came from specific families; like the Greeks, Turks, Egyptians, Syrians, Iranians, Saudis, Jordanians, and many more. So in verse 9 Jesus isn’t saying that Church members will be hated, but that the entire nation of Israel will be hated by all of the surrounding nations.
Matthew 24:9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake. 10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
In the verses below, Jesus isn’t addressing the Church, but he is warning Jews during the 7 year Tribulation period. Many Jews will disregard God and his promises to Israel. Many Jews will be killed. But those who trust God to the end will be saved. Please read my commentary titled “The Last Jews in Jerusalem” in my book “Israel’s Beacon of Hope”.
Matthew 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
In Matthew 24:14 below we can see that Jesus is talking about the Tribulation period. The Tribulation period is a seven year span designated for God to show his displeasure with Israel’s rejection of him. In Matthew 24:14 the gospel is preached in all the world. This happens during the Tribulation period as described in Revelation. So we can see that Jesus is addressing people that are living during the Tribulation period.
Rev 14:6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
The following verses are obviously addressed to Jews living around Jerusalem. The inhabitants of Judea (the region around Jerusalem) are called by name in verse 16. So it is very clear that Jesus is describing the coming trials of the nation of Israel, and not the signs of the rapture of his Church.
Matthew 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) 16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: 17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:
If that isn’t enough evidence that Jesus is describing Israel’s Great Tribulation, then look at Matthew 24:21 below. This is the verse that we get the term “Great Tribulation” from.
Matthew 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
Today the Church is suffering at the hands of the nations, but the nation of Israel is scheduled to suffer 7 years of tribulation. In Matthew 24 Jesus is explaining the trials that Israel will suffer during the Tribulation period. The beginning of sorrows in Matthew 24:8 are the events of the first part of the Tribulation. After the abomination of desolation in Matthew 24:15 the worst part of the Tribulation begins (Dan 9:27). It is called “great tribulation” in Matthew 24:21. The second part of the Tribulation lasts 3 ½ years or 42 months or 1260 days (Dan 7:25, Dan 12:7, Rev 11:2-3, Rev 12:6, Rev 12:14, Rev 13:5).
The Tribulation period is designated to exercise God’s indignation towards the nation of Israel, it is not meant not for trying the Church. The 7 year Tribulation period is the same as the seventieth week prophesied by Daniel (Dan 9:24). It is a 7 year period of trouble for the nation of Israel, not a time for trying the Church. Jeremiah calls the Tribulation “the time of Jacob’s trouble” not the time of the Church’s trouble. The seven year long Tribulation period is designated for Israel’s chastisement.
Jer 30:7 Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.
In 1 Thessalonians below, the dead in Christ are raised from the dead. Those “in Christ” are Church age believers. They are “caught up” or taken by force up into the sky. The gathering of Jews will happen differently as we will see. Please read my commentary titled “The Rapture Day!”
1Th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
The gathering of Jewish believers will happen differently. Below, the elect are God’s chosen people (Deu 7:6). They are the people of Israel that have been scattered throughout the world by every past world empire. The people of Israel will be raised from the dead at the end of the Tribulation period. They won’t be taken into the sky. They will walk back to the land of Israel on foot.
Matthew 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
Isa 11:11-12 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. 12 And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.
God will make a roadway for the Hebrews to return to Israel. In Isaiah 11:15-16 below, Jesus dries up the Gulf of Aqaba on the Red Sea (that is the tongue of the Egyptian sea)! He will also dry up the Nile, Euphrates, and Tigris Rivers in order to make a way for the resurrected Hebrews to cross over them! Please read my commentary titled “Aliyah Israel Arise Return” in my book “The Last Jews in Jerusalem”.
Isa 11:15-16 And the LORD shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty wind shall he shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over dryshod. 16 And there shall be an highway for the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.
OK we have looked at the signs that happen before Jesus comes back to gather Israel. So what are the signs that happen before of Jesus comes back to gather his Church? Well there isn’t one specific event that triggers the Rapture but we are instructed to understand Old Testament prophecy in order to recognize the Tribulation as it approaches! We will know that the Rapture is near because the Rapture will happen before the Tribulation.
In 2 Thessalonians below, Paul is addressing the Church in Greece. Paul calls them brethren in Christ. So Paul is describing the Rapture of the Church in verse 1. The believers in Thessalonica were worried that the Tribulation was beginning. They were worried that the Rapture had not yet happened! Paul told them that two Old Testament prophecies must take place before Jerusalem’s great tribulation began. Those two events were the falling of Satan from heaven to earth and the revealing of the Antichrist with signs and wonders. I think that these two events may happen before the seven year Tribulation period begins. Since they had not yet happened Paul was assuring the Thessalonians that the Tribulation had not yet begun. Paul was assuring the Thessalonians that when the time came they would escape the terrible time of trouble on earth. Please read my commentary titled “The Fall of Satan and Rise of the Antichrist” in my book of the same title.
2Th 2:1-3 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
In 2 Thessalonians 2:13-14 below, Paul says that the church members in Thessalonica will be saved from the coming tribulation. The word “salvation” in verse 13 isn’t describing deliverance from sin, but it is describing physical rescue from God’s wrath on earth during the Tribulation.
Here are two other verses that indicate that Church age believers will escape from the wrath of the Tribulation period. These people have already been saved from sin. The term salvation here is the rescue from physical harm during the Tribulation on Earth.
Rom 13:11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
Again physical rescue or “salvation” comes to people who already believe!
If you are still on earth when you see most of the old world nations at full scale war with each other and also hear of famines, and disease outbreaks, and earthquakes happening all over the world, then you are in trouble. You have entered the beginning stages of the Tribulation period. It is High Time to Awake!
